Good game so far... two nice goals... Ox for the footwork and set up, Monreal for a beautiful composed finished... Di Maria with a beautiful pin point cross for Rooney to finish from the penalty spot with the header.

There was a time Micheal Oliver would've been fooled by dives like that. Credit to him.

Januszaj... what a disgraceful dive, rightfully punised by the ref.  Di Maria with a bit of the infamous 'red mist'... deserved second yellow and early shower.

The sad thing is, both of them had beat their man.  :-[

Watching it again now, Januszaj had lost the ball when he decided to go down.

United (apart from Young), almost never get pulled up for their diving. Rooney in particular because he's England's golden boy. Glad they got some payback tonight.

Hard fought win. Excellent first half and reliant on good defence and goalkeeping to hold on to the win. Team looked tired in the second half. Still 3 more points!

Great performance today by the boys! Beating Liverpool is almost as much fun as beating United.

Bellerin showed why he is the future of Arsenal, and then showed why he isn't the present.

I love to look at all the old posts about how Ozil is rubbish. I just love them.

We still cyah catch a break from United's opponents though. Need some distance, and then to beat them.

Looks like the top four more or less decided, now it's a matter of sorting out the order.

Not the most exciting game. Chances few and far between on both sides. Say what? When we win our game in hand we back up the table. Hope we win 3-0 though. Goal difference needed.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles: Arsenal ban player's mother after row
BBC Sport

Arsenal have banned the mother of young player Ainsley Maitland-Niles after she was involved in a training-ground dispute and threatened to withdraw the winger from an under-21 match.

Police were called and arrested Jule Niles after she confronted executive Dick Law and her son's agent.

No charges ensued but she has been subsequently issued with a warning.

Maitland-Niles, 17, has been at the club since he was nine and made his senior debut this season.

The teenager, who still lives at home, is highly rated by Arsenal officials and BBC Sport understands their biggest concern surrounds his focus following incidents of this nature.

Maitland-Niles made his first-team debut in a Champions League victory over Galatasaray in December, becoming the club's second-youngest player to feature in the competition.

He has also played as a substitute in Premier League and FA Cup games this season.

Niles arranged to meet Law, Arsenal's main contract and transfer negotiator, and her son's agent last month to ask about her son's progress at the club. It is understood a confrontation ensued, with Law and the agent suffering minor injuries.

Niles was banned from the training ground but managed to attend last week's under-21 game against Aston Villa, at which she is alleged to have shouted at coaching staff and threatened to withdraw her son.

Police were called again and, although no arrest was made, Niles was issued with a warning.

A police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 4.11pm on March 20 to the location to reports two people had allegedly been assaulted by a woman. They suffered superficial injuries.

"Officers attended and a 36-year-old woman from Watford was arrested on suspicion of assault. She has since been released with no further action to be taken against her.

"Police were called to the location on 24 April at 2.40pm to reports a woman was refusing to leave the premises.

"Officers attended and the woman was issued with a warning."

Arsenal declined to comment on the story.

Aliko Dangote, Africa's richest man, still plans to buy Arsenal
SOCCERNET.COM

Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote has told Bloomberg he still plans to buy Arsenal for the "right price" in the future.

Dangote was linked with making an approach to buy a stake in Arsenal in 2010, before he said he decided against the investment.

This week, however, Dangote has been quoted as saying: "I still hope, one day at the right price, that I'll buy the team.

"I might buy it, not at a ridiculous price but a price that the owners won't want to resist. I know my strategy."

Arsenal fan Dangote is Africa's richest man, according to Forbes, and is worth $15.7 billion, reports the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

American businessman Stan Kroenke currently holds a 67 percent stake in Arsenal, reports Bloomberg, while Red and White Holdings, backed by Russian magnate Alisher Usmanov, has 30 percent.

Kroenke also owns the NFL's St. Louis Rams, the NBA's Denver Nuggets, the NHL's Colorado Avalanche and MLS' Colorado Rapids.

Dangote said: "We have $16 billion-worth of investments in the next few years. Right now I want to take my own business to a certain level. Once I finish on that trajectory, then maybe" an offer will follow.

He added that Arsenal "need new direction" and manager Arsene Wenger "needs to change his style a bit."

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

He could well spend some of that money on Nigerian football.

Doh mind that guy. While Arsene has not delivered on trophies, he has more than make up for them where money is concern. Arsenal has been in CL for about 13 straight years. Correct me if I am wrong about that. If he has so much money to spend, form a Lagos Arsenal. Have a partnership with Arsenal and even the Emraties.

Arsenal way too one dimensional

Aresenal patterns it's game along the Barcelona model.....yet you don't see Barca so stunted and one dimensional in attack

While it's not easy to break down a team that parks the bus.....Barcelona does this practically every game.  Now...they have exceptional players....none of which Arsenal have (except for maybe Sanchez)....but still.....find another route to goal nah man.

When Barca get bogged down, Messi goes into the phonebooth to take off his glasses and work clothes and comes out to save the day. Last night Arsenal brought on Theo.

Can they sustain this 1-0 lead ... or will there be drama?
