A man on Vessigny Beach casually changes his clothes.......and reveals ladies’ underwearSwim trunks on and it’s off to the beach!By Zen Dionne Jarrette (Trinidad Guardian)Is fetishism on the rise in T&T? After a man was spotted on Vessigny Beach last weekend wearing two pairs of women’s undergarments to go for a swim, it prompted the Guardian to ask questions.
Why do men wear women’s underwear?
Local sexologist Giriraj Ramnanan says men in T&T have always worn women’s underwear, but it does not necessarily have any homosexual connotations.
“Some men just like the feel of silk or nylon against their scrotums,” he says, “A lot of them used to play “dress-up” when they were small.”
Most men keep women’s underwear as their secret preference, wearing it under their work clothes as they go about a normal day.
Ramnanan says that from his research, a lot of men borrow female underwear from their wives or girlfriends when they are not at home. Other men go to lingerie shops to buy frilly delicates, saying it is for their female partners when really it is for their personal enjoyment.
“It is very delicate and personal to the individual,” Ramnanan explains.
But for all the diehard “jockeyshorts” men out there, worry not: this sort of behaviour will not become mainstream any time soon.
“While it has been going on in the country for quite a while, it is not something that will be accepted by the mainstream,” says Ramnanan.
“There are not enough people in the population who do it.”
