Showtime in Barcelona

I guess winning the league early has benefits for us fans. Ronaldinho is putting on a show. No pressure to win the game, is a skills clinic.

No look passes?

MADRID, Spain (AP) -- FC Barcelona beat crosstown rival Espanyol 2-0 on Saturday in its first game at home since being proclaimed Spanish league champion for the second straight season.

An own-goal by Daniel Jarque and Ronaldinho's strike in front of 88,000 at the Camp Nou gave Barcelona its 25th win and extended its advantage over Valencia and Real Madrid to 13 points.

Frank Rijkaard's team was applauded onto the field by Espanyol's players, while supporters held blue, red and yellow cards aloft in a mosaic which spelt out "We are champions" in Catalan.

Barcelona captain Carlos Puyol, soaked in champagne, received the league trophy from Spanish soccer federation president Angel Maria Villar after the game and the team then went on a lap of honor.

The club will also parade the trophy around the city in an open-topped bus on Sunday, but celebrations have been toned down ahead of the team's Champions League final against Arsenal in Paris on May 17.

"We're here again celebrating a title. It's like a dream come true. But we still have to play in Paris. Yes, we're going to Paris," Rijkaard said in an address in Catalan to the crowd. "I'd like to thank you for your support. It's fundamental for the team."

Barcelona won its 18th title on Wednesday when Valencia lost to Mallorca. The players learned they were champions at halftime of their 1-0 victory over Celta Vigo.

That was ridiculous. The keeper was like lizard without legs beating up on the ground.
