I have heard it was by Bomber, also some say its by Sniper.

But looking at Gayelle today they reported it was composed and sung by a fella name Len Ward, aka. Pen-Man

As far as I know,  Penman (Len Ward) is de writer and Sniper (Mervyn Hodge) is de singer. De rumour dat it was written by Bomber (Clifton Ryan) has been going on for years but I eh tink it has ever been validated.

It always have some kinda controversy wit calypso. Up tuh dis day, nobody cyar say who write "Jean and Dinah". Some say is Sparrow (Slinger Francisco), some say is Blakie (Carlton Joseph) and some say is an unknown fella who sell it tuh Sparrow.

Jean & Dinah written by both Sparrow & Blakie while locked-up in prison for soliciting girls, hence the topic!

The agreement was whoever gets out first can claim and record it and as destiny had it Sparrow was the one who got out first so he recorded it and it it became his first hit to launch his career in Calypso.
