A fashionista's take on all the kits
KITS AND MISSES
GERMANY 2006
(Mirror)
The united colours of football line up in Germany this summer Our footie fashion guru's guide to the World Cup shirts to be seen in.. and those to avoid
NOT long ago, football kit was seen exclusively on the terraces and the pitch. Now, footy shirts ar designed to go just as well with a jeans as they do with shorts, socks and boots - and we'll all be wearing one this summer.
England's hopes have been rocked by Wayne Rooney's injury. Still, at least and the new red away kit looks the part. But what do the fashionistas think? We asked Mirror fashion writer ZEBA LOWE to rate all 32 of this summer's shirts. Thanks to our friends at Kitbag.com, who sell them all.
Germany Typical German fashion is a combo of Birkenstock sandals and towelling socks but this shirt is one of the best
Costa Rica Paulo Wanchope's boys have scored a definite own goal with this 1980's style bleacheffect blunder
Poland Made out of a weird, paperlike fabric, this won't keep any Poles warm or stop BBO (Beer Body Odour).
Ecuador Bad in the fashion stakes - and what are those stripes all about? But might just blind their opponents on the pitch
Paraguay Nobody is going to look intimidating in this Sunderland-style two-tone Blackpool stick of rock
Trinidad & Tobago Love the neck. But this shirt might be as good as it gets for another of England's Group B opponents
Sweden Nicely cut and bound to look good on Freddie Ljungberg. But reminds you of a marketstall =knock-off Brazil shirt
Argentina This baby blue number is perfect for the team who are always throwing their toys out of the pram
Ivory Coast Eye-popping African number that's harder to ignore than a Didier Drogba dive. Love that elephant!
Serbia/Montenegro Nice kit - but is anyone really going to succeed in the World Cup when they look like Scotland in disguise?
Holland Nicely retro with big collars. But, as with all Dutch kits, the words '"you've been Tangoed'" spring to mind
Mexico The preppy look is big for summer, so fashion-conscious fans will look extra hot in this college-style number
Iran Classic white in soft fabric, but the fabric's pebble-dash effect is - ahem - one for the true fans only
Brazil Simple, classic and likely to be the non- England shirt you see most often in pubs and clubs this summer. Definitely better looking than Ronaldinho
Angola Be prepared to be noticed in this show-stopping red and black combination. Bit too loud to wear off the pitch
England Be prepared to be noticed in this show-stopping red and black combination. Bit too loud to wear off the pitch With its echoes of 1966, England's red away kit is sure to be a massive seller this summer. Let's hope we're wearing it all the way to Berlin
Portugal Good-looking and simple - a bit like their flying winger, Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo then
Italy Their figure-hugging winner from the last World Cup has given way to this polyester poor show. =Pasta joke
Ghana This sassy monochrome top is very basic but very classy. A good start for the World Cup newcomers
United States Ironically for the OTT Yanks, this dull design is the most boring of the bunch. A far cry from =classy NBA/NFL kits
Czech Republic Not even Petr Cech could save this one. I love the badge but the rest of the shirt is a 0-0 draw
Croatia This recycled chequered flag/tablecloth would make just about any fan feel more than a little square
Australia Subtle and chic, this is what all the best-dressed bar staff in London will be wearing this summer
Japan The land of the rising sun - and the falling sense of style. Dull, dull, dull where you would expect innovation
France Probably the best of the bunch, reflecting the effortless Gallic cool. "Bon chemise", as they say in Paree
Switzerland Nice retro badge, but the rest of the strip - with scary big overprint - is as interesting as the country itself
South Korea Nothing to like about about this pinkish pullover. A total dog's breakfast from the Koreans (insert own joke here)
Togo Big Bird would be proud of this creation. Let's face it, he's got as much chance of winning the Cup as these lot
Spain Good news for those who like their Sangria... the vertical stripes on this strip, will help slim down your beer belly
Ukraine It takes something special to make Andriy Shevchenko look dodgy. This garish number, with bizarre slashes, does it
Tunisia The African outsiders have been caught massively offside with this crunchy-feeling off-white graffiti style top
Saudi Arabia A surprise. Great quality fabric in crisp white, great badge. There's nothing sad about the Saudis
