SWO Up for the month of May is the T&T National Women’s team for their drubbing of the opposition in the recent CFU first round phase of the CONCACAF Gold Cup Tournament, scoring 20 goals in their 3 games and conceding just 1.  Congrats to the ladies and coach Jamal Shabazz for their convincing and overwhelming display.

SWO Down for the month of May is the TTFF.  May 10th 2006 in a WC warm up match against Peru would mark the last time that Russell Latapy would ever don the red, white and black in front of the T&T public.  The TTFF did not even see it fit to present The Little Magician with so much as a mango in appreciation for all he has done for T&T football.  How much would it take to have a little half time presentation ceremony to thank Russell? 

In addition….the TTFF apparently gives scant support to our Women’s Football Team.  There are many women who play football outside of T&T wanting to play for T&T but the TTFF does nothing to even scout these players or help facilitate a tryout with the team for them.

EDIT: (June 1, 2006)
We have been informed by Shaun Fuentes that Latapy did in fact have a special press conference held in his honour when he was presented with tokens of appreciation and he also received a special presentation at the gala farewell dinner at the Centre of Excellence on May 12th.

That real sad.  A half time presentation is the simplest of things.  A real shame yes.

that would be impossible to organize, especially at this point...Latas might mean alot to us, but it would have taken some serious jockeying by JWarner to pull something like that off with FIFA and the German FA at any point during the WC organization.
But it would be a good idea for sw and wn members to give him some kind of gift.

I will also need 2 or 3 volunteer decoy stormers...

Yeah I was at the Peru game and yeah I could have sworn that at half time they would have had a presentation and I was also praying and hoping that some of his best goal for T&T would have been shown on the shitty Hasely Crawford screen!!

It was lame, not even nostalgic.

We really serious in dis country bout honoring our sporting heroes??? Its a dam shame, a dunno when we'll start to realise how important sports are to the development of a nation.

this is a major problem tnt athletes had,having and will have in de future.there is no support from de governing bodies and worst yet de government.they are taken for granted,there needs to be an infrastruture to promote as well as commemorate their achievements.we have alot of talent besides the ato,lara and yorke.if one didnt win medals at olympics and de other break de world record twice and de next was king in manchester for years,nothin would have been done for them.there is so much a fan can do or say,yuh will always need de leaders behind yuh.

yes morvant, i agree that e-man is a true boss.  the man does all this stuff for us plus he has to  raise twin daughters (those girls in the pics are his right fellas??)
