The club has signed the biggest sponsor and kit deals in it's history and is is coming off a profitable season so they don't have a pressing need to sell him.
The club is also trying to build a team to challenge the big 3 so selling your best players in not the way to do that. Furthermore Martin Jol has stated publicly that doesn't want to lose him.
The only way this deals goes through is if Carrick wants to go....which is a distinct possibility unfortunately.
