Entertaining so far.
Both teams trying to win it. too many long range shots though.
Frings trying to make up for his suspension.

2-0 Schweinsteiger had a hand in both.
the first one was a bullet that knuckle and fool the keeper. The ball eng up passing between his hands. He was going left and the ball swerve back.

The 2nd was a nice own goal. not as sweet as Italy vs us, but a nice touch nonethless.
Free kick,Schweinsteiger put the ball into the mixer, watch the defenter place it past the keeper...

Kahn Again!
The old men going out on top in this World Cup.
Schweinsteiger will get Man of the match, but Khan have a strong argument.

Schweinsteiger taking care of business today. Those are kind of goals I like to see. Just bring it in when the chance is there - forget all the setting up and passing around and finding the center - if you have the momentum go for it.

Kahn showed he still has it after finishing up the season with Bayern Munich a little shaky.

Awesome diving header consolation goal for Portugal - perfect placement by Figo. I was starting to wonder if he would add anything for a while after being substituted in - but then - bamm!

For a big player, why does Pauleta under-perform in all the big tournaments? I know he scored a hattrick against Poland in WC 2002, but even so he has not looked good in 2 WCs and one European Cup, and he starting right through. Poor Nuno Gomes...he mash up Euro 2000 (when Pauleta was injured), managed to outscore Pauleta (with 1 goal no less) and only started one game in Euro2004, and score the same number of goals as Pauleta this WC with 2 corbeaux sweat. Yeah, it ain't that simple, and I feel Pauleta better is generally the better player, but he should have been replaced by either Postiga or Nuno Gomes, or joined up front by one of them after it was clear he was not going to score goals this WC again....Portugal's failure is lack of fire power up top.

Sweinsteiger finally break out of his slump. Germany has a big team for the future...you see how many 21 year olds was playing today? Having been in Germany and felt the love they give T&T and everyone else...this was the least they deserved. They hosted a tip top WC. Well done to Klinsmann too. I always love a redemption story..Let all them loud mouth critics eat their words.

I hope C Ronaldo could take the mantle from Figo and be the talisman on that side, he is a boss and I hope he learn from this.
It eh easy to win on the big stage doh care wha yuh do football could be a cruel sport.

Glad I get to see Figo one more time was meh favourite for some time now.

C Ronaldo need to leave ManUre for a big side and tear up the worldl. The brother maturing like fine wine with every touch.

For a big player, why does Pauleta under-perform in all the big tournaments?

Easy question.  He is their Stern John.  He is there more for reputation than current form.  He is what yuh call ah sentimental starter.  I've been complaining about why Scolari have Nuno Gomes on de bench and den saying de team have trouble scoring goals.

Pauleta now retire from international ball. Hard luck, he had a great career for Portugal in general and broke Eusebio's national scoring record...but never lived up to expectations on the big stage.
