Dibble backing for Edwards

Former Luton goalkeeper Andy Dibble has tipped Carlos Edwards to shine for the Hatters next season.

Edwards is due to move to Kenilworth Road on 1 July after leaving Wrexham - where he played with Dibble last season - at the end of the 2004/05 campaign.

"Carlos is a very, very strong attacking player with a lot of pace and he can play in either wing-back position or further forwards," Dibble told Luton Today.

"He's versatile and also has a really decent strike on the ball and I've seen him score plenty of goals from outside the penalty area.

"He's an exciting player and I think the fans will only be impressed by what they see."

Lowe keen to keep young guns - Southampton

Kevin Phillips and Peter Crouch could make Southampton exits this summer - but Rupert Lowe is "not interested" in selling Saints' young guns.

Following last season's relegation from the Premiership, it remains to be seen whether the likes of Crouch and Phillips start the season at St Mary's, with a number of clubs thought to be tracking both players.

But Saints are eager to keep the likes of Dexter Blackstock, Yoann Folly, Leandre Griffit and Kenwyne Jones, a quartet of youngsters chairman Lowe considers the future of the club."We are not interested in selling any of our promising youngsters," said Lowe. "Several of them have already proved themselves in the Championship and we are looking for them to progress this season."

Jones had a spell last season with Stoke, who Saints believe are keen to have him back, while Blackstock went on loan to Plymouth in February.

On the recruitment front, Saints are continuing talks with former Millwall manager Dennis Wise over a move to St Mary's on a playing basis.

That's very good news for Kenwyne Jones. A long term stint in England will no doubt make him into a quality player. This augurs well for the National team as well.

either wing-back position?  Does he mean left side too?  Maybe we should try carlos on the left and birchall on the right?  theobald or spann as holding mid and whitely or yorke as attacking mid
