I heard both both Boys and Girls won medals at the Junior Commonwealth games. Girls got Gold and Boys Silver?

Special Olympian makes history with CYG gold-medal beach soccer team

http://teamtto.org/index.php/international-games/youth-commonwealth-games/6699-special-olympian-makes-history-with-cyg-gold-medal-beach-soccer-team

The Team TTO girls beach soccer team created double history when they claimed the gold medal at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Nassau , Bahamas Saturday night.
Not only did they become the first team sport to win a gold medal for this country, but they also included the first special needs athlete within their ranks to achieve the feat: Tamika Campbell.

Campbell is a higher functioning athlete with a slight learning disability who has represented the Special Olympics of Trinidad and Tobago (SOTT) at the Special Olympics World Games in California in 2015 and the Special Olympics Winter Games in Austria earlier this year.

Campbell was discovered at the SOTT Seaside Games at Maracas in October last year when the Beach Soccer Association of Trinidad and Tobago (BSATT) collaborated with the SOTT last year.

BSATT president Kyle Lequay said Campbell -she plays floor hockey, basketball and athletics as well- stood out while playing with the boys.

“We later held a coaching course for players with special needs at Saith Park and again she was impressive so when the TTOC gave the green light that there would be a TeamTTO girls beach soccer team at CYG, we invited her to trials,” said Lequay.

At the screening session in April, coach Chad Appoo recommended Campbell- described as an attacking and competitive player by both Lequay and SOTT president Candy Berment-Harper- be selected to the final Team TTO girls beach soccer team.

“ She is a nice , quiet girl whose personality really comes out when she interacts with her teammates Coach Appoo said she is very willing to learn and does whatever is demanded of her. We feel with a little more direction, she will develop into an even better player,”Lequay said.

“We are so happy and proud of her because it shows is with the inclusion of special needs kids not only can they participate at a high level but they can be successful once they have the ability and opportunity to work hard and push themselves. She created double history “

Berment -Harper was also gushing about her feelings about Campbell’s achievement.

“ We were so proud of her because people in Trinidad and Tobago, they still really don’t accept special needs children but with this feat by the girls beach football and Tamika being able to contribute to their success, it really made the SOTT fraternity proud,” she said about Campbell who attends the Lady Hochoy Home in Gasparillo.

“It could not have happened to a nicer person , she is so helpful, is a team player and always wants to win.l I really can only say complimentary things about her,”Berment-Harper stressed.

“ It is just great to see her crossing over and being part of a regular team and being successful.Hopefully she inspires more of our athletes to follow in her footsteps,” -Berment-Harper

Youth Beach Soccer Teams bring home Gold/Silver from Youth Commonwealth Games.
TTFA Media.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Under 19 Beach Soccer Men and Women team have completed their first international assignment with a satisfying level of success at the Youth Commonwealth Games in the Bahamas.

The Women captured Gold with a 6-5 victory over Jamaica in the final while the men settled for silver having suffered a 6-2 loss to St Lucia in their final on the weekend.

The women’s final took place first at the National Beach Soccer Arena at Malcolm Park a

Despite trailing their Jamaican counterparts 4-0 early in the second period, an Adana Phillip hat-trick – including a winner 14 seconds from time time – ensured Trinidad the title before the men’s final brought the beach soccer to a close.

It proved a more one-sided affair than the women’s finale as four goals from St Lucia’s Linus Clovis earned his side the win over T&T.

Both nations will now go down as the first beach soccer gold medal winners in the competition’s history while there were mixed fortunes for hosts The Bahamas in the third-place play-offs.

The countries that took part on the Beach Soccer included T&T, Jamaica, St Lucia, Turks and Caicos, Bahamas and Antigua/Barbuda.

T&T head coach, current Beach Soccer senior team player Chad Appoo was elated with the team’s successful run at the competition, particularly considering that it was both team’s first international assignment.

“Of course we are delighted the girls are returning with gold medals,” Appoo told TTFA Media.

”They showed great character throughout the tournament and especially in the final to come back after being three goals down. They deserve it and I hope it’s the start of things for ladies beach soccer in T&T. We don’t yet have a senior women’s team but I think naturally a lot of these girls can progress to that level,” Appoo continued.

“I think maybe the boys were a bit unlucky in the final but that’s the way the game goes sometimes. The sand is so unpredictable and if you don’t take your chances it comes back to haunt you but all congrats to St. Lucia. Most of these boys will go back to their grass football careers (most of them play school football/youth pro league) and that’s fine but I really believe in the next 2 years a couple of them can break in to the senior team.

“They’ve created history as the first team sport to medal at any international games for T&T but more importantly for both teams in that we keep them together going forward. Hopefully soon we will have an official beach soccer pitch/stadium to train on and develop even more players.”

Nia Honore – “The tournament was of great exposure for us and it was also a challenge that we looked forward to. We faced teams that were of high and average standards but each game had a different obstacle that we overcame and in the end we did what we came here to do which was to win gold.”

Jabari Gray – “The tournament has been a great experience for the team being our first time competing at such a level. I believe that each player gave more than 100% out on the sand but on the day that it mattered most, luck wasn’t on our side. I think everyone should expect great things from this team very soon once given the chance.

“I would like to thank the management and coaches of the team for the work they put into this, I would also like to thank the county for believing in us and mostly I would like to thank the TTOC for giving us this opportunity.”

Shoreline, AQ Lions cop Tobago Beach Soccer titles
T&T Guardian

AQ Travel Lions from Costa Rica and Shoreline Beach Soccer Club from the USA emerged as men’s and women’s champion teams of the 8th Annual BagoSports Tobago Beach Soccer Championships last weekend.

The event was held at its traditional venue at the Black Rock Heritage Park in Courland Bay, commonly also called Turtle Beach.

Given the them ‘Ground Zero’ severe budget cuts to this year’s event still saw it well subscribed by interested teams and saw six men’s teams as well as a record five women’s teams competing over a three-day period for top honours.

In Sunday’s women’s final, Shoreline women’s team, led by the free-scoring Englishwoman Gemma-Louise Hillier who scored four goals, comfortably defeated NorCal 7-3 with Hillier improving her tournament tally to 17. Their other goals in the final were scored by Katie James (2) and Anjuli Ladron (1).

Shoreline goalkeeper, Annelies Martijn of the Netherlands said that the tournament was a good one with a surprisingly high level of play while Hillier added she hoped to return to the Tobago tournament in future”It was amazing to get the opportunity to come to Tobago to play with an amazing team. Goals aren’t scored on your own, its a team game so I couldn’t have done it without these guys.”

AQ Lions had a stiffer challenge from BSC Hurricanes, a newly formed locally-based entity comprising of several national T&T players.

That experience was tested after Hurricanes fell behind early in the first period and had to rally back to level the scores and then take a 3-1 lead into the first interval however after that, AQ re-assumed total control to run away with a convincing 7-5 win.

Returning for a fourth time and lifting his third Tobago Beach Soccer title, Spanish national team player Enzo Gomez Leon, popular known as Llorenc called the event “unique, priceless” and one with a “good vibe”.

He said, “The atmosphere is incredible, you know it. This is my fourth time here and first time with Lions but we hope to come here again.”

T&T goalkeeper and captain of the BSC Hurricanes, Zane Coker although frustrated with the result was heartened by the continued improvements being made by local teams and said, “I think that what we have here in Tobago is spectacular. There is no doubt that the Caribbean and Trinidad and Tobago have the quality of players that can compete with the international teams.”

Sixteen Concacaf nations will participate with the best two teams advancing to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Paraguay 2019. “We’ve prepared with the intentions of going there to compete strongly and give it our best shot,” Augustine told TTFA Media.

“The introduction of the new pitch at the Home of Football has made a huge difference in our ability to thoroughly prepare for the competition. Simply having access to the right type of sand has allowed us the luxury to improve all technical facets of the game,” Augustine added.

Previously T&T would have trained on a sand pitch at Saith Park in Chaguanas.

T&T have won nine of sixteen qualifying matches over three qualifying campaigns. Mexico are the most successful nation with three titles. The United States have won two titles and, additionally, they won the 2007 joint event. Along with El Salvador and Costa Rica, this quartet have dominated the championship, finishing in the top four together in five of the seven tournaments.Panama are the current champions.

T&T Starts Beach Soccer qualifiers with 6-0 victory.
TTFA Media.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Men’s Beach Soccer team commenced their 2019 CONCACAF Beach soccer World Cup qualifying campaign with a comfortable 6-0 victory over Turks and Caicos Islands in Group B action in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico on Monday.

T&T got two goals from goalkeeper Zane Coker, another double from Kevin Woodley and one each from player/captain Ryan Augustine and Shane Hospedales.

T&T skipper Augustine said there was a positive feeling after the opening win.

“Today we had a very positive performance by the entire team. All the players really did their part and contributed to the overall effort. I think we weren’t the sharpest but we did stick to our game plan which proved to be effective and we are looking forward to the next game. The energy within the team is also pretty good right now given the win and the general confidence we have this time around,” Augustine told TTFA Media.

And Coker, who just like Augustine is a veteran of previous World Cup campaigns, added, “Today’s result was a pleasing one. The vibe of the whole team and the atmosphere is quite good. We went out there, kept our composure and we didn’t let any of our mistakes hamper us. We were able to regroup as a team and continue to push forward.

“We have a mission at hand right now which is to keep on performing, keep on playing and keep on winning. We will regroup as a team and go out there in the next game and look for another victory for Trinidad and Tobago,” Coker said.

T&T takes on US Virgin Islands on Tuesday. The championship acts as the qualification tournament for CONCACAF teams to the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay with the top two teams qualifying.

Woodley's hat-trick sends T&T to quarters.
By Walter Alibey (Guardian).

A hat-trick by prolific goal-scorer Kevon 'Showtime' Woodley and double strikes each from Jesse Bailey and Hakeem King guided T&T's beach soccer men to the quarterfinal round of the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with a comprehensive 7-2 triumph over the USVI on Tuesday.

The Beach Warriors need only to beat Panama in their next game tomorrow to top Group B of the play-off and determine whom they will face in the knock-out phase. T&T encountered early USVI resistance but broke free when Woodley, a scorer of two goals in the team's opening match against the Turks and Caicos Islands the day before, guided Shane Hospedales' left-side corner past goalkeeper Michael Vollmer in the 2nd minute.

However, Rakeem Joseph equalized a minute later from a defensive blunder by goalkeeper Zane Cooker. The T&T custodian, under pressure from Joseph, fumbled in the 3rd minute for the latter to fire the ball into an empty net. The Warriors, who hammered the Turks and Caicos 6-0 on Monday, went ahead for a second time in the game when Bailey found himself at the end of an acrobatic attempt from Woodley in the centre of the park. And with the goal at his mercy, Bailey placed his shot wide of a diving Vollmer in the 9th minute for a 2-1 advantage.

But after being hammered 8-0 by defending champions Panama in the first match two days ago, the USVI men did not give up, and Joseph Leto, drove his shot powerfully past Coker a few seconds later to level the scores at two-apiece.

The Warriors though would not be denied the lead for the third time. This time Woodley, on another telling run at the opposition's defence was brought down in the area with 2:48 seconds on the clock, forcing the referee to point to the penalty spot. King stepped up and placed the ball into the top left-hand corner for a 3-2 lead at the end of the first period.

At the resumption King got his second item of the game, benefitting from a neat lay-off from Woodley in the 17th minute to extend his team's advantage.

A minute later, T&T inspirational goalscorer Woodley found room in the centre of the park and fired a rasping shot that Vollmer could only parry into his own nets for a 5-2 lead. Woodley then completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot, placing his shot wide of the outstretched arms of the USVI goalkeeper.

In the third period, USVI was reduced to four when Troy Andrews was given marching orders for a foul on King. And from the free-kick Bailey fired a powerful grounder past Vollmer to complete the rout in the 30th minute.

Also yesterday Guadeloupe edged Belize 7-6, and in late matches on Monday, USA hammered Bonaire 14-1 and Mexico clobbered Guatemala 4-0.

The quarter-finals will take place on Friday, followed by the semi-finals on Saturday and the final, and third-place match, on Sunday.

The finalists will be the Concacaf representatives at the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

T&T go down 4-3 to Panama in Beach Soccer group decider.
TTFA Media.

Trinidad and Tobago will face Mexico in the quarter finals of the Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship after suffering a narrow 4-3 loss to reigning champions Panama on Thursday.

As the very last game of the group stages here in Puerto Vallarta, the winner of this tie would face Guatemala in the quarter-finals, while the loser would take on hosts, Mexico.

Trinidad and Tobago got off to a flying start when Bailey drove in from the ring wing to spin a low shot into the bottom corner and grabbing an initial lead.

They were only ahead for a minute though, as it didn’t take long for Maquensi to level the match up, setting himself up for a fine looping volley. Woodley retook the lead with a volley of his own, an unstoppable effort that left the keeper with no chance.

The second period began with Garcia nodding in an equalizer, showing that Panama had no intention of being left behind in this race for the top spot. Soon after, Woodley squeezed between two defenders to snatch the advantage for a third time with a fine finish, but just like clockwork the equalizer came again, with Maquensi bagging his second with an equally fine finish.

It was impossible to separate the sides as the match passed the halfway point and it looked as if extra time would be inevitable. But early in the third period, Eliecer Garcia was gifted too much time at the back post as he headed Panama into the lead for the first time in the match.

Enrique Shubert Perez’s men fought hard to hang onto this lead and see the game out, claiming three points and earning themselves a match against Guatemala in the quarter-finals, while Trinidad and Tobago are set to challenge Mexico.

Goals: 0-1: Bailey, min. 9 (1); 1-1: Maquensi, min. 8 (1); 1-2: Woodley, min. 3 (1); 2-2: Garcia, min. 11 (2); 2-3: Woodley, min. 9 (2); 3-3: Maquensi, min. 7 (2); 4-3: Garcia, min. 10 (3);

Battling Warriors bow out 4-5 to Mexico.
By Walter Alibey (Guardian).

A gutsy, but unlucky T&T performance against host Mexico in the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on Friday night, saw them bow out of the tournament 4-5.

The win means the Mexicans have advanced to meet Group A winners Panama in the semifinals today after the Panamanians pulled off a hard-fought 6-4 win over Guatemala in an earlier quarterfinal showdown.

Facing a team that defeated them 5-1 in the same round of the competition last year, T&T's Beach Soccer Warriors were expectedly nervous at the start and they paid dearly for it, as the Mexicans raced to a 2-0 lead in the opening five minutes of play. Abdiela Villa was first to a cross ball from the left, to head past Zane Coker in the 2nd minute.

And two minutes later Jose Hernandez with a rasping shot, flew past Coker for a 2-0 advantage in the first period.

Soon after T&T lost goalkeeper Coker who was forced into a rash challenge and had to be stretchered off with an injured right ankle that could see him miss the rest of the tournament. Coker was replaced by Jabari Gray, but before the match could be restarted, a swarm of bees hovered over the field and caused the referee to send the players for a short break.

However, the Warriors sprung to life in the second period of play that turned the match around. With less than a minute in the second period gone, Shallun Bobb got in between the Mexican defenders to head in for his team, reducing the score to 1-2.

And with Kevon 'Showtime' Woodley silent for most of the early moments, the T&T striker stormed down the right flank to centre perfectly for Shane Hospedales to turn nicely on his left foot and shot past the Mexican goalkeeper for the equalizer 2-2 in the 23rd minute.

At the start of the third period of play, T&T silenced the noisy Mexican crowd when Bobb blasted the ball past the Mexican custodian from the right side to give his team the lead for the first time.

T&T then got a golden chance to extend their advantage from the penalty spot when Jair Aleman encroached on Woodley's acrobatic attempt. However, Woodley fired his shot high over the bars.

Instead, Mexico's never-say-die attitude proved to be the deciding factor. Two goals by Mexico's Jose Vizcarra in the 31st and 32nd minute, and another by Villa in the 30th took the home team through to the semis, despite Woodley item in the 35th minute.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

Trinidad and Tobago sixth in Beach Games qualifiers
By Andrew Gioannetti (T&T Newsday)

T&T men's beach soccer team nearly executed a heroic come-back, but fell just short with a 8-7 loss to the Bahamas, which saw them finish in sixth place at the 2019 World Beach Games qualifying tournament in El Salvador yesterday.

It was somewhat of an anticlimactic end for a T&T team that lost two matches and won one over the course of the three-day elimination tournament, while scoring several stunning goals in between.

They began their challenge on Saturday with a 9-3 defeat to the United States, a flattering scoreline for the Americans who, despite a valiant effort from T&T’s beach soccer players, was overshadowed by a questionable refereeing decision to award the US a penalty for a hand-ball, which never was.

That result ruled the T&T out of contention for a place in the 2019 World Beach Games in Qatar.

A day later, T&T turned up the momentum and impressed the Salvadorian locals with a stylish display, resulting in a 6-4 victory over Guatemala, in the first match of the play-offs to determine the fifth to eighth place finishers.

Despite their victory over T&T, the US team failed to qualify for the final or the World Beach Games, finishing third with a victory over Panama.

Beach soccer is gaining momentum in China with the international tournament entertaining local fans in its third edition in Hebei province in 2018.

The “GoalFun” China-Latin America Beach Soccer Championship brought some of the world’s best beach soccer players from Chile, Mexico and Uruguay — three international powers in the sport — to compete against the host team in a two-day round-robin tournament on the Tangshan International Tourism Island.

Beating all three opponents in two days, Uruguay won the championship on Sunday while providing fans a demonstration of skill on the sand. Mexico and Chile finished second and third respectively, while the host finished last. But in the process, China had its young players tested in drills against the world’s best.

Apart from the action, fans attending the tournament also enjoyed soccer-related carnival activities on the island in the coastal region of Tangshan, where the tournament has been held for three consecutive years.

The tournament, jointly organized by the Chinese Football Association and Tangshan municipal government, was launched in 2016 as part of CFA’s efforts to grow the sport’s mass participation and promote soccer culture across China.

Beijing-based GoalFun Sports has been promoting and marketing the tournament as the official partner of CFA’s beach soccer program.

T&T lost its final game, 5-0 to El Salvador and secured one win in the tourney, defeating Denmark 3-2 in their fourth game on September 10th.

T&T were edged by hosts China 3-2 on September 7th, lost 6-1 to Bahamas a day later and were narrowly defeated in a highscoring affair, 7-6 to Uruguay on September 9th

The Danes managed to avoid sixth place with the 2-1 victory over their hosts, while Trinidad and Tobago suffered a heavy defeat to El Salvador to finish at the bottom of the table.

The Salvadorians netted five and, thanks to China losing to Denmark, retook second place to finish the competition as runners-up.

China’s Bai Fan claimed the MVP award, while teammate Zhang Xunwei bagged the prize for Best Goalkeeper.

Bahaman Lesly St. Fleur scored a total of eight goals across the five matches, enough to see him take home the Top Scorer award.

Just curious on an observation this weekend with the Beach football facility at the "home of football"

It was the first time I really took it in before heading to the game.

Is that field there the standard size beach soccer field?
It looked real small when driving pass, hopefully it was just the angle i was seeing it at.

Would hope the facility would be at the standard int'l size.

Portugal win second beach soccer world title
FIFA.com

Portugal are the world champions of beach soccer for the second time following their 6-4 victory over Italy in the final of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Paraguay 2019.

Emmanuele Zurlo opened the scoring with his tenth of the tournament. He’s scored in every knockout stage match.

Leo Martins equalised with a well-hit free-kick that found the bottom corner to bring the teams level at the first interval. Portugal took a two-goal lead heading into the second and final interval thanks to goals from Jordan and Andre Lourenco’s follow-up tap-in from Jordan’s long-distance free-kick.

Jordan and Leo Martins both scored early in the third to both grab braces on the evening, while goalkeeper Andrade did his part, too, most notably saving a penalty from the tournament’s top scorer Gabriele Gori. As they've shown all tournament, Italy fought back into the game and found two goals from Andrea Ramacciotti and Josep Junior Gentilin to come to within two goals of the Portuguese.

However, Jordan converted a late free-kick to complete his hat-trick and bring Portugal a deserved victory, leading them to their second Beach Soccer World Cup title following triumph on home soil in 2015.

Question concerning the beach football facility at the Home of Football

I've never been on a regulation sized field before, but is it me or is the beach football pitch @HOF REAL small compared to a regulation sized beach football field??
From passing it the last few times, it just looking small ---and if it is, that defeating the purpose of having that there no?
i mean they could still do good work there but shouldnt it at least have the correct dimensions available for them to train ?

Beach Soccer strikes me as an area in which the new federation admin could make an appreciable advance in the standing of the national team and in the delivery of the game within the country ... with a modest injection of financial support and the on-boarding of sponsors particularly interested in this niche sector.

Of the Top 50 teams in the world, only SIX are from CONCACAF. None are in the Top 10. Four are in the Top 25. There are TWENTY UEFA nations in the Top 50 and ALL of the 10 CONMEBOL nations are in the Top 50 (the lowest is Bolivia at 45)

Rankings in brackets

Mexico (11)
El Salvador (16). This represents a jump from 18 to 16.
USA (18)
Panama (24)
Bahamas (32)
Trinidad and Tobago (43)

It's notable that Jamaica is at (79) and Costa Rica at (72).

Meanwhile, Poor TF, might have to turn to Youtube and his scouts again. I guess the guys he training not getting any better. Maybe Ramiro could do something with them, but wait, TF don't need help, he only need players trained elsewhere.

With the way the TTFA does operate maybe some of these expertise could be on loan to the national team? I am sure we could use ah mental coach- all man book in fun therapy session- starting with head coach- next each player- I think there was a time when for a footballer growing up in TnT the biggest dream was to wear the national colours - to bleed red white and black- to take on any team - to represent - to hear - "forge from ....... in -
So yeah Leah we see how this one will play out- but the set up sounding like all in place.

Amarelle gets down to work with beach soccer men.
T&T Guardian Reports.

T&T men’s beach soccer coach Ramiro Amarelle has wasted little time in getting down to work with this country’s players having undergone his mandatory quarantine at the Home of Football in Balmain, Couva, recently.

Last month, the former Barcelona and Spanish beach football star Amarelle was appointed head coach of the national team and along with his assistant coach and analyst Jaime Paz and Maria Gordo, another assistant and mental coach.

The 43-year-old Amarelle was tasked with leading at the Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship which takes place in Alajuela, Costa Rica from May 17-23 where T&T will come up against USA, host Costa Rica and Turks and Caicos Islands in Group C of the 12-team competition.

T&T opens their campaign versus Costa Rica on May 17, before facing USA a day later and Turks and Caicos in their final match on May 19.

Group A comprises defending champions Mexico, Panama, Guadeloupe, and Belize while Group B consist of El Salvador, Bahamas, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic.

After round-robin pool play, the top two finishers in each group and the two best third-place teams will advance to the knockout stage at the Complejo Deportivo FEDEFUTBOL Plycem in Alajuela, Costa Rica.

The two semifinal winners will earn a spot in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Moscow Russia from August 19-29.

T&T has reached the quarterfinals of the Concacaf event three times, in 2015, 2017 and 2019 and for this year Amarelle says he is targeting this country to its best-ever finish.

Speaking with TTFA media, Amarelle who is also a FIFA instructor and advisor and holds a UEFA Pro License coaching badge noted that the first thing he along with his staff has been working on is getting to know the players.

He said, “First thing we need to do is to adapt to the players so that we can understand each other and know each other. We have to understand personal issues and model because we have to remember they are not professionals and they have a job, most of them while others are also students.

“Then we need to listen to them, their lives, there needs and their requirements and their normal lives because based on that we have to create our training plan individually and a collective one.”

Expressing the importance of understanding each other, Amarelle said: “We cannot go ahead without listening and meeting with them because our main job is to help the players to improve and increase their level and for that, they are not professionals and we need to listen to them and try to provide them with the right tools and right context to develop the quality and capabilities."

With regards to the facilities for training at Couva, Amarelle said the sand was amazing and the facilities are good. However, he had one wish though, that he had more time with the players.

“We cannot be close to all the players because all the players are from different parts of the country and it's normal that they will need some time to arrive here (training).

“This is the only thing we have to understand and also added it to the personal issues at the end of the day, we have to train on evenings adapted to the players' jobs. And also on the weekend, it is our worse part but we have to adapt to that otherwise.

“We have everything and we have to try and provide the players with the best facilities possible and with the best human resources and I am sure we will try and listen to the requirements while also trying to help them to improve their needs they have to improve our resources to help and support them and their process.

Looking at his immediate goal, the Spaniard said, “Some of the players I know from a few years ago, but not personally to work with and we will need to adapt to each other, to bind together our process as a team because some of them who will join the team are new and younger and we need lots of information in general.

"After regarding physical requirements we will then try to show them the specific information and the intensity and recovery time they need to apply during their daily routine and weekly routine to be more adapted or as best as possible to the requirements of official competitions of high level.

“We want to achieve our best performance. This is our goal,” said Amarelle.

The rest of the T&T beach soccer team’s technical staff comprises Ryan Augustine (player/assistant coach), Dr Jason Pilgrim (athletic trainer), Dr Oba Gulston (manager) and Yuri Chapman (assistant manager/kitman).

This is refreshing to read and to listen to the views and approach of this beach football coach - humility, understanding, empathy. How did the TTFA select and procured his services?

Could this be shared with our Men's national coach? Could. An arrangement be made to have TF sit observe and  learn from this coach?

Amarelle confident beach soccer team will do well
T&T Guardian Reports.

Despite challenges, T&T's Beach Soccer coach Ramiro Amarelle is confident the team can do well at the 2021 CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship in Costa Rica, next month.

The Spanish-born coach has been working hard with a talented bunch of players whom he described as experienced with a lot of quality, and possess a good attitude.

Amarelle has highlighted a number of areas that need work on ahead of the championship, such as communication and their style of play, which he said he could not elaborate on, as fans will see it during the competition.

T&T has been drawn in Group C of the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championships. T&T will face the USA, hosts Costa Rica and the Turks and Caicos Islands in the championships carded for Alajuela, Costa Rica from May 17-23. The USA made it to the finals of the 2019 tournament in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Group A is made up of defending champions Mexico, Panama, Guadeloupe, and Belize, while Group B comprises El Salvador, Bahamas, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic.

The top two teams from each group and the two best third-placed teams advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament. T&T must reach the finals of the tournament to qualify for the 2021 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Russia.

On Wednesday, Amarelle said his group of players has shown the ability and attitude to create a strong programme for the long term.

Amarelle has also seen welcomed improvement in communication, noting that once the communication area is worked out, then teammates will be able to talk to teammates during the game, teammates will be able to correct teammates and they can pass instructions during dead-ball or a wall situation.

With a team filled with players equipped with several years of experience, as well as some inexperienced ones, Amarelle said once they can get the younger players to produce, then he expects that his charges will do much better than they expected to do at the tournament.

He told TTFA Media that he is expecting no easy game at the tournament. He explained that his players will be going into the competition hoping to do the right thing and hoping to win every match that they play.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.
