Please forgive me here but can you enlighten me as to where else this occurs? ---- where an organization/entity owns more than 1 team in the same league like with our leagues

thanks

Easy, Pachuca and Leon (Mexico) would be an example.

Ah doh know what the factual arrangements are, but in my view the more interesting observation is what was stated previously:  it can happen where it is not stated it cyah happen.

asylum is correct. Got this from Wiki.

Interestingly, the Cornish are credited for bringing soccer (futbol) to Mexico. In 2012, billionaire Carlos Slim purchased a 30% stake in Grupo Pachuca, which owns Pachuca and Leon. Since getting promoted to the Primera Division in 1998, Pachuca has been one of the most successful clubs in Mexico.

La Horquetta Rangers edge St Vincent and the Grenadines
T&T Express

ISAIAH LEE netted the only goal as T&T professional club Terminix La Horquetta Rangers opened the St Vincent and the Grenadines leg of their Caribbean tour with a closely-fought 1-0 win over the “Vincey Heat” at Victoria Park in Kingstown, Wednesday night.

Rangers are on a pre-season tour, prior to competing in the TT Premier Football League. They have already played three matches in Grenada, winning 2-0 over St Lucia, losing 3-2 to the Grenada men’s national team and also drawing a return match against the Spice Boys 1-1 . Rangers will end the Caribbean series with a second match against SVG tomorrow from 3 p.m.

Wednesday night, Rangers found SVG their equal during a goalless first half, but were ahead just seven minutes into the second period through Lee. The young striker, a member of Trinidad and Tobago’s 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup squad, beat Josh Stowe, with a powerful, diagonal shot, the ball going low and past the dive of the Grenada goalkeeper.

Also going close were Rangers captain Tyrone Charles, who only just failed to connect with Ataullah Guerra’s dangerous pass at the far post, while Guerra screwed a shot wide when free and with plenty of time from just on top of the penalty area.

The match was a fast-paced affair in which Rangers head coach Dave Quamina gave a couple of other players a first start, among them midfielder Josiah Edwards and the defensive pair of Akim Andrew and Emmanuel Thomas.

Striker Cleon Westfield came close to getting a goal for the Vincey Heat early in the second half, his shot from the left flank bringing a good save out of goalkeeper Jabari Brice, who has started the last two matches for Rangers after Jabari St Hillare began the first two against St Lucia and Grenada. However, Kevin Francis went even closer and almost brought SVG level in added-on time, his shot from 35-metres beating keeper Brice but rebounding off an upright.

I appreciate the corroboration, Deeks. Now I'll add that it's not unique to Grupo Pachuca. For instance, both Santos Laguna and Atlas are owned by another entity. Eyebrow-raising but that's the reality.

By the way, Victoria Swift was at Leon with Marta Cox. Cox was moved to Pachuca to reinforce that squad, while Swift didn't continue with Leon.

Rangers boss not sending players to train with T&T.
By Ian Prescott (T&T Express).

Defiant Ferguson

A DEFIANT Richard Ferguson, managing director of local professional football club Terminix La Horquetta Rangers, insists that while he will make his players available for national selection on FIFA match days, he will not release them otherwise to train with the national team.

Ferguson was responding to a Trinidad Express enquiry, after national coach Angus Eve hinted that Rangers was among the local clubs not looking at the “bigger picture” when it came to developing the national squad.

Speaking via Zoom, Eve hinted that he had not selected players from local clubs Rangers and Point Fortin Civic for upcoming CONCACAF Nations League matches, because they had not been part of recent national team preparations.

Eve is the third T&T coach who has expressed difficulty getting Rangers footballers released for national team preparations, following similar complaints by former head coaches Dennis Lawrence and Terry Fenwick.

Ferguson was appointed managing director of Rangers after Terminix Trinidad Limited purchased St Ann’s Rangers FC in June, 2018, moved the club to the La Horquetta community and changed its name to Terminix La Horquetta Rangers FC.

Ferguson a Trinidad and Tobago Football Association presidential aspirant, insisted that he is within his rights to withhold his players outside of official FIFA match-day windows.

“When there is a FIFA window we have to release the players. But if is he’s asking for them to go and train.... nah. That isn’t happening,” stated Ferguson.

“We does train harder than them,” he declared.

“I am not sending no players to train,” Ferguson insisted. “We training three times a week, eight hours a day. To send them to train other than that, they will get injured. I does pay my players. He (Eve) does not pay them.”

Ferguson supported his argument that Rangers had not boycotted the national team by pointing out that Real Gill had scored a goal for T&T against St Martin on January 29, and defender Russ Russell Jr also came on as a substitute.

Ferguson was reminded that while dominating the local professional league, teams such as Defence Force and W Connection had in the past always released their top players to train with the national team.

W Connection at one point played a national final with youth players such as then 15-year-old Mark Ramdeen included.

“That is W Connection. We are Rangers, a different club,” Ferguson insisted.

“We does ask him (Eve) to play us a game and he never does. He will play Army three times a week. He will play Police. He will play Club Sando. But he will never play Rangers.”

Rangers recently played five international games in ten days on a successful Caribbean tour, which ended with Saturday’s 1-1 draw with the senior national team of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

Ballpest doubles in Central FC's comback win vs Jabloteh.
By Sherdon Pierre (T&T Newsday).

CENTRAL FC player Keron "Ballpest" Cummings scored two goals to record a 3-2 comeback victory over a determined San Juan Jabloteh on Saturday at the Phase Two La Horquetta Recreation Grounds, La Horquetta.

Keron "Ballpest" Cummings gave Central the early scoring from the penalty spot in the third minute. Cummings calmly placed the ball to the right of the diving goalkeeper Jesse Peters.

Ten minutes later, Dantaye Gilbert tapped in close range in the 13th minute to score Jabloteh's first goal of the campaign and tie the match 1-1.

Jabloteh's Trevis Byron gave his team the 2-1 lead with a scorching long-range shot from distance in the 36th minute catching goalie Hakeem Lucas off guard. His terrific goal is in the lead for goal of the tournament.

Central flipped the script in the second half and applied pressure to the young Jabloteh team. Maurice Dick levelled the score in the 51st and former national midfielder and skipper Cummings completed his double in the 81st to seal the victory for his team.

Central FC move on to ten points at the top of the table.

In another match, W Connection and Morvant Caledonia United played to a goalless draw at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium on Saturday.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

According to him, Rangers "does train harder" than the national team. They are currently in 7th spot out of 12 teams the TT PFL.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement of a better training system.

Maybe he is trying to make a point about the haphazard approach of the national governing body.

Zandolie, Rangers have only played one or two games so far. They have games in hand because they were on tour up the islands.

It would be good if this fella was vindicated by having an outstanding season. But other local players have been doing well under national team training.

The proof will be in the pudding.

I hope is not that petty. I agreed with him to a point. He looked after his players during the covid. In addition, many players have been injured on national duty. And have had real issues with health bills. He don't want that for his players. But from now on I do hope he release his players. I was told that there are other players from other clubs who could have mad the team. But were not selected.

Rangers highest local club in Concacaf rankings, TT Pro League ranked 13th.
By Nigel Simon (T&T Guardian).

La Horquetta Rangers is the highest-ranked T&T Premier Football League on a list of 184 clubs issued by CONCACAF following the launch of an innovative new ranking system for clubs and leagues in the region on Monday.

According to the CONCACAF, the new club ranking is based on the performances of individual clubs in official international and domestic competitions, while the league ranking only considers international matches.

As a starting point for the new club ranking, the region’s men’s clubs have been ranked based on their results since 2017 in the following official international and domestic club competitions: Concacaf Champions League, Concacaf Regional Cups (Leagues Cup, Central American Cup, and Caribbean Cup), Domestic first division professional league, Member Association Cups (which qualify for Concacaf competitions), and FIFA Club World Cup

According to CONCACAF performances in these competitions this season (2023), and going forward in the coming years, will continue to be used to determine the new club ranking.

The CONCACAF release added: The new rankings will be an important part of the Confederation’s revamped club ecosystem and will be key a factor in determining draw seedings for official Concacaf club competitions beginning with the new 2023 Central American and Caribbean Cups and onwards, and next year’s eagerly anticipated expanded CONCACAF Champions League.

Formally known as Superstar Rangers Football Club and St. Ann’s Rangers Football Club, the club now owned by businessman Richard Ferguson and fourth on the current T&TPFL table has a ranking of 104th with 1,027 points to be the highest of the 12 T&T professional clubs, and fourth best among Caribbean Football Union representatives behind Haiti’s Violette ( (71st/1,076 points), Dominican Republic’s Cibao FC (84th/1,058), and Haiti’s Arcahaie FC (103rd/1,032 points).

Rangers, who won their own Ascension Football Tournament last year, one year after Defence Force captured the title has been in existence for over forty-eight (48) years and operating under Superstar Rangers FC for over thirty-five (35) years. Nine years ago, we changed the club’s name to St. Ann’s Rangers Football Club to reflect the location of the club was that of the community of St. Ann’s.

The club was then purchased by Terminix Trinidad Limited in 2018 and from January 2019 the club was moved to the community of La Horquetta hence the club’s name was changed again to reflect this move, to Terminix La Horquetta Rangers FC.

New rankings system launched
T&T Express Reports.

CONCACAF launched yesterday an innovative, new ranking system for clubs and leagues in the confederation that will help determine draw seedings for its Champions League and other new tournaments.

The new rankings will be an important part of revamped club ecosystem in CONCACAF and will come into effect from the start of the new Central American and Caribbean Cup tournaments and onwards, and the expanded Champions League next year.

According to a CONCACAF news release: “The new dynamic rankings will be regularly updated following international club competitions, domestic league, and cup matches. They will be publicly available on [the CONCACAF website.

“In addition to determining draw seedings for CONCACAF club competitions, the ranking system will also provide fans with an engaging way to track the progress of their favourite club and league week after week, as they compete with the very best in the confederation.”

The news release indicated that the men’s clubs in the confederation have been ranked based on their results in a slew of official international and domestic club competitions over the past six years as a starting point for the new rankings.

The competitions include the Champions League, as well as the Leagues Cup, Central American Cup, and Caribbean Cup, domestic top division professional leagues, member association cup tournaments, and the FIFA Club World Cup.

The CONCACAF news release added: “Performances in these competitions from this season and going forward will continue to be used to determine the new club ranking.

“The competitions are weighted in terms of the ranking points available in every match, with international matches awarding more ranking points than domestic top division league and cup matches.”

The news release stated: “The calculating formula has been developed in a way that allows clubs to know ahead of each match how many ranking points they can gain or lose depending on the result (win, draw, or loss). Clubs gain more ranking points for defeating a higher-ranked opponent and lose more ranking points should they be defeated by a lower-ranked opponent. Home-field advantage is also a factor.”

In addition to an individual club ranking, CONCACAF is launching a league ranking index to determine the strength of domestic professional leagues based on the performances of their clubs in international competitions.

For the League ranking, only international matches will be considered and matches from the CONCACAF Champions League will award twice the points in comparison to Leagues Cup, Central American Cup, and Caribbean Cup.
