Barça Hammer Bayern In Gamper
FC Barcelona continued their emphatic pre-season form as they put on a show against Bayern Munich to defeat the German champions 4-0 in the Gamper Trophy on Tuesday evening.
Ronaldinho used the annual event in Camp Nou to put another sparkling performance for the fans as he produced more moments of brilliance, including the opening goal.
In the opening half, new signing Gianluca Zambrotta proved what a fine addition he will be to the Champions League winners with some powerful runs and crosses down the right.
Just like last summer, when Barça played Juventus, Leo Messi stood out as he skipped past players and was at the centre of the majority of the home team's attacking moves.
Bayern honoured the occasion by fielding a very strong side, despite the Bundesliga season already having started.
The scoring began in the 29th minute when Ronaldinho lined up a free-kick on the right of the area and curled the ball over the wall and into the top corner of the net as the stationary Oliver Kahn looked on.
Within three minutes Barça had doubled their lead as Deco's cross fell to Ronaldinho who saw his first time shot parried by the Germans' keeper, but Samuel Eto'o was on hand to tuck home the rebound.
The game was over as a contest nine minutes before the break as Eto'o, who had made his peace with the club after leaving the stadium at half-time in Sunday's victory against Espanyol, raced onto a loose ball and flicked it over Kahn and into the net with his knee.
Frank Rijkaard had one eye on Friday's European Super Cup clash with Sevilla in Monaco as he replaced the entire starting team at half-time.
The home side still dominated proceedings and were able to add a fourth as Ludovic Giuly beat Kahn to the ball and clipped it back for Javier Saviola to net his third pre-season goal.
