Two German clubs in dock over racist chants

BERLIN (AFP) - German first division clubs Alemannia Aachen and Borussia Monchengladbach face disciplinary proceedings over racial chanting from their supporters.
The German football federation (DFB) has opened an inquiry into a match between the rivals at the weekend where referee Michael Weiner threatened to cancel the encounter over the chants.
Home supporters targetted Monchengladbach's Brazilian forward Kahe, after which Weiner briefly stopped the game to ask for a public address to inform fans the game would be scrapped if the abuse continued.
However, the away fans, whose team lost 4-2, then started to dish out abuse to Aachen's Malian defender Moses Sichone.
This is not the first case of racial abuse to be dealt with by the DFB this season.
Last week Hansa Rostock were fined 20,000 euros after supporters from their reserve team abused Schalke 04's Ghanaian international Gerald Asamoah during a cup match.
Rostock's reserves must now also play a match behind closed doors.
