A BBC documentary this evening exposed Sam Allardyce as a very corrupt manager who accepts bungs (i.e. - bribes associated with transfer deals) on a regular basis.

Hidden camera footage with his son, best friend, agents....prices and players names called, the works.

I'd be shocked if he isn't forced to resign.

The documentary also hinted at the involvement of several other managers, but didnt call names for legal reasons.

edit: here's the story on ESPN Soccernet

Fellas, it was a hell of a documentary. I actually give up watching CSI: Crime to see it....dat says it all. ;D

The way how the documentary said it works is that Sam's son Craig would broker deals and he's the one who would take the "cut" out of the agent's fees for Bolton players. Sam was never outed as accepting bribes. And two deals in particular were mentioned. The deal with the Iceland guy from Bolton to Chelsea (cyah spell de name, but allyuh know who ah mean), and some arab kid. Apparently Craig brokered both deals, and was said to accept cuts both times, with the full knowledge of his father

The agent who they were tricking and doing the undercovering filming of, he said he pays the son, not Sam. But the son, on tape, said that his father is fully aware of all his dealings. Now he has retracted this saying that he was just mouthing off, trying to impress the"agent" (undercover guy - Knut). But this currupt agent, and two other black agents, have all said roughly the same thing on tape. They even had a drop off of £50k in a bag to give to a manager (name never called), but he got cold feet and backed out last minute. So they did not actually get him on tape. But this same manager had already accepted £50k as a down payment on this deal, and was vex that he didn't get the whole £100k one time.

Anyways, they followed this crooked agent around for months, with him showing the undercover guy the ropes of the business. One thing that was very bad was the blatant touting of a 15 year old England national player who is in the academy at Middlesborough to big name clubs...WITHOUT his club's knowledge. The crooked agent said he took the boy and his parents to dinner with the scouts of a couple clubs, discussing money and so on. At one point a club, LIVERPOOL, made an offer of £150k for de youth. De agent after leaving the meeting was incensed, saying that he thinks de boy is worth more, cause he have to get his cut out of it remember.

This same thing was done with Chelsea. BBC has scouts from both Chelsea and Liverpool on video brokering deals and discussing taking de youth, and comments were made about keeping it quiet from his club, Boro, cause he doesn't want them to know he's looking. Now this is the same ting dat cause de Ashley Cole dramas. This is known as tapping up. And the implication of the report is that Chelsea are making illegall approaches for other teams players a habit.

Then came the shocker. Harry Redknapp. Ah nearly dead. I like Harry. Didn't want him to be in this ting atall. But he is on tape discussing arranging scouting at the world cup, and appearing to accept luxury accomodation, etc. as part of the deal. Now, he never said anything out right, mostly shook his head alot, and used vague terms whenever he did speak. So you cannot accuse him in court.  But the killer was his assistant and right hand man of eight years, Kevin Bond, who was taped having a conversation discussing terms of a deal. Once again, vague terms and words, implications, nothing outright. But the "agent" was saying things outright, coming right out and talking about meeting to discuss amounts and terms of a deal. And Bond agreed with everything. If tings get bad, Harry can always say he knew nothing about this, Bond lose he wuk, and Harry safe. Very clever. Not sure if Sam can do the same. He definitely in hot water.

Anyways, the bung thing is quite common, and if the crooked agent is to be believed, is almost standard practice. Whether the managers actually know about what goes on behind the scenes is debatable. But the agent said, chief scouts were the number one "clients" for bungs, but also included were club chairmen, club board members, assitant coaches.

Very sad. No wonder Jackula in his element and can get away with all that he has.

just one amendment -- it was Chelsea that offered the 150,000 and this is serious because Chelsea had a suspended punishment of 3 points deduction after the Ashley Cole affair.

My bad. Was typing fast and trying to remember everything  ;D

But Chelsea playing up. Abramovich is a Russian. Ever hear about de Russian mafia? Self-made billionaire by his thirties? Hmmmm.........

I have always felt that Chelsea will prove to be the downfall of the EPL, and they look like they're on their way to proving me right. They've brought a whole new level and greed and "money first, football second" mentality to the EPL that wasn't there before, not even in Man U glory days. It is bad for the game and the league.
