October 15, 2006

Neaves and Devenish lead USF
A second-half goal by Jason Devenish (formerly of Queen's Royal College), his first of the season, and one in extra-time by Kevon Neaves (formerly of St. Anthony's College) guided the University of South Florida to a 2-1 victory over Syracuse University. Devenish's 46th minute strike was set up by Neaves who recorded his fourth assist of the season. Neaves' goal in the 106th minute was his second in as many games and it was also his second consecutive goal scored via a free-kick. Kevon buried a bending free-kick from 23 yards out into the near goal post.

Super sub Crosby
Sophomore Kedan Crosby (formerly of Fatima College) came ff the bench and capped of the scoring for the University of Rhode Island as they hammered Saint Joseph University 6-1. Kedan headed a volley from B.J. Kochis into the net with two and a half minutes remaining on the clock.



Clevon sparks comeback
Clevon George (formerly of St. Anthony's College) helped to end the University of Tampa's six-match losing streak by scoring the first of four unanswered goals in 4-1 victory over St. Thomas University. Clevon's goal was scored in the 19th minute.


October 14, 2006

Crooks records a hat-trick
Kevin Crooks (formerly of Signal Hill Senior Comprehensive) recorded a hat trick as Clayton State University dominated the second half in route to a 5-1 victory over Francis Marion University which puts them on a four-game winning streak. Crooks opened the scoring in the 23rd minute and then he put Clayton State ahead for good with a goal in the 59th minute. His hat-trick was completed in the 65th minute. Crooks has now scored five goals in the last two games.



Toby with a three pointer
Darren Toby’s (formerly of Signal Hill Senior Comprehensive) scored a goal in the 48th minute and had an assist in the 75th minute to pace the College of Charleston to a 3-2 victory over Elon University.



Farrier on the rebound
Ancil Farrier (formerly of Naparima College) scored the only goal of the game to give Southern Connecticut State University a 1-0 win over Bryant University. Farrier's penalty in the 52nd minute was initially saved by the goalkeeper, but Ancil had the presence of mind to knock in he rebound.

Lucky seven for Gilkes
Brandon Gilkes notched his team-leading seventh goal in the 85th minute to wrap up the scoring as SUNY Plattsburgh downed Oswego State University 4-1. Gilkes also had an assist in the opening goal of the game which was scored in the 3rd minute.


October 12, 2006

Neaves scores his first
Kevon Neaves (formerly of St. Anthony's College) open his scoring account in style with a 30 yard rocket in the 86th minute to propel the University of South Florida to a 3-1 win over Stetson University. Jason Devenish (formerly of Queen's Royal College) was credited with the assist, his first of the season.

Ryan Stewart got on the scoresheet in the 79th minute as Lindsey Wilson College blanked Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) University 3-0.

Crooks scores twice, including game-winner
Kevin Crooks (formerly of Signal Hill Senior Comprehensive) tallied a double for Clayton Stae University in a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Georgia Southwestern University. Crooks opened the scoring in the 6th minute and got the game-winner in the 104th minute.



Ayinde scores the game-winner
Ayinde George (formerly of San Juan Secondary) netted the game-winner in the 67th minute for Herkimer County Community College in a 2-1 win over Cayuga County Community College.



Delpino strikes again
Jeremy DelPino (formerly of St. Mary's College) flicked the ball into the corner of the net in the 30th minute to Radford University a commanding 2-0 lead over the University of Charleston, which stood until the end.



Theon Francis the provider
Trailing 3-1 at half-time, Lincoln University scored three times during a three-minute stretch early in the second half, two of them set up by Theon Francis (formerly of Queen's Royal College). Unfortunately, Lincoln University conceded an own goal in the 55th minute and lost 4-5 to Moravian College.

Farrier's penalty lifts Owls to 1-0 win
Ancil Farrier (formerly of Naparima College) scored the games only goal on a penalty kick in the second period of extra-time to lift Southern Connecticut State University over the University of New Haven 1-0. Farrier placed the ball into the upper right side of the goal for his third goal of the season.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (October 16, 2006) – University of South Florida sophomore Kevon Neaves has been named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 15, as announced by the league office today.

Neaves scored two goals and recorded one assist to help guide USF to a 2-0-0 record for the week. The Petit Valley, Trinidad, native notched the game-winning goal in the 106th minute during USF’s 2-1 double overtime victory over Syracuse on Sunday, Oct. 15. The win clinched a spot in the BIG EAST Championship and extended USF’s unbeaten streak to four games. The goal was a 23-yard free kick, which Neaves bent around the wall and towards the near post. He was also responsible for setting up USF’s first goal of the match, registering his fourth assist of the season. Earlier in the week, Neaves blasted his first goal of the season on a similar free kick during USF’s 3-1 win over Stetson (Oct. 12). Neaves’ insurance goal help lead the Bulls to their 22nd win all-time over the Hatters. On the year, the sophomore midfielder has record two goals and four assists for eight points.

This marks the first-career BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honor for Neaves and the first honor of the season for the second-year starter.

fellas watch out for crooks...that boy is trouble...skill, size and speed!!! if he can overcome his laziness he can be ah fixture for trinidad national teams for some time!!!

I saw him when he was on the U20 team a few years ago. He played a lot of toots back then.

Well, as of today, Kevin Crooks is the Peach Belt's player of the week. This makes two from TnT in a row with this honour. Wacey Benjamin and now Crooks.
