National footballer Stern John is to appear in court on Monday after he was arrested and charged for breaching the 11pm to 4am curfew.

John at 10:50pm was spotted by E 999 patrol unit on the corner of Ariapita Avenue and French Street..
???

Anyway who would bust Stern?  I wonder if J.W. Alleyne is on E 999 patrol unit...it would explain Stern's friend's head.

Some perspective here......Stern was presenting trophies today at a Breat Cancer awareness womens football tournament at UWI. So, whatever his personal situation, he still maintained his professional commitment.

Stern John charged with breaking curfew

Stern John charged with breaking curfew
By Akile Simon (T&T Express)

Veteran Trinidad and Tobago national footballer Stern John and an attorney were among five people arrested by police in Woodbrook for an alleged breach of curfew.

John, 34, attorney Denisha Mayers, 35, Emmanuel Hyacinth, 27, Atersa Humphrey, 25, and his sister Terry Ann Humphrey, 31, were arrested by police at the corner of French Street and Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook around 11.30 p.m. on Saturday.

But there has been confusion among senior and junior police officers over the decision to charge John and the other four accused with the offence since they were reportedly in the yard of Motor One Insurance which is at the corner of French Street and Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook.

The Express was reliably informed that junior officers had contacted several First Division officers seeking advice on the matter after they were instructed by an Inspector to detain and charge the suspects.

A police source said the First Division officers advised that no charges should be pursued against those detained since, at the time of their arrest, they were in a compound which is secured by a wall and gate, but charges were still laid against the accused.

They were subsequently granted their own bail while in custody at the Woodbrook and Belmont police stations and told to appear in the Port of Spain Magistrates' Court at 9 a.m. today to answer the charge.

One of the accused was slapped with an additional charge of using obscene language.

The charges against John and the others were laid by a police officer assigned to the E-999 Patrol and Response Unit.

And ten other people, among them six women, are also expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate today charged with breach of the curfew.

The suspects were arrested by police in front of Four Roads Police Station late on Saturday night during a roadblock.

Officers said they realised there were several vehicles on the road after curfew hours and decided to conduct a roadblock when they held the suspects.

Appsaahhh....d man want to outdo Carlos or wha :rotfl:

But under seriousness...Motor One is a business place...is a insurance company actually, not a restaurant, bar, house etc. So unless one of the people with Stern working there. Police must find it suspicious that people in the yard...and the yard small too.

They lucky they ent get a tresspassing charge in they tail.

Further is 10:50 another report had...is level hotel and guest house and 1star in the area, it not hard for people to find a hole with 10min to go.

Also I am sure the junior officers know who he was and made the call to the senior ones just to clarify and the seniors pull rank and say yeah deal with him.

But yuh know what...the law is the law, so be it. Although I find the circumstances fishy in truth.

Just like Carlos, Stern musbe had an excuse to be where he was with the company he was in and a man had to go hospital. It would be nice to hear his side of the story.

If one's presence on property is privileged, no issue of trespass arises. Privilege could apply even beyond one of the parties being in an employer-employee relationship.

What is the point of this curfew really?  ???

Is Stern supposed to be a gang leader and a big fish now?!!

How much longer are people in T&T prepared to put up with this unnecessary dotishness by the government called a SOE?!   :-\

Motor One car park does be open after business hours for use by the casino next door not so? (Xante)

I doubting that 10:50 report, cause if that was true he coulda simply say he was going into the casino and base it there as they does be open all night during curfew hours.

TTPS probes Stern John's weekend bail
ctntworld.com

The Police Service has launched an investigation into the granting of bail to national footballer Stern John over the weekend.

John and three others were charged for breaching the curfew on Saturday night. However, he was granted bail the following day, even though he did not appear before Chief Magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar until Monday to answer the charge. All four were then granted an additional $1,000 bail each by Chief Magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar and ordered to reappear in court on December 14th.

Questioned on this at Tuesday's Police Press Briefing on the State of Emergency, Ms Sharon Lee Assang of the TTPS said, "Generally under the SoE you are supposed to go before a Magistrate and the Magistrate fixes bail. That is a question we would like to know so an investigation has been launched into that. It is receiving close attention."

All this is so stupid. It's high time they end this curfew.

I wouldn't be suprised if some Police man who was feeling special decided it would look sooo cool if he arrest Stern John. it probably wasn't even 11 yet as Stern said. So when they got to the station and his seniors realised the Police officer was an idiot they tried to cover thier tracks and let him out on bail.

And even if that is not the case, I don't care. Everyone knows he isn't any criminal. They can't even hold and keep the actual criminals... big fish and small fish alike. So what are they trying to prove by holding someone who has been awarded for thier sevice to the country and everyone know has a clean background.

Plus man (one of our football heroes btw) just lost his Mum & is trying to get over that!

This incident proves two things to me:-

1. Its way overdue for this senseless unnecessary curfew to end as no big fish who bring in the drugs and weapons and encouraging gang warfare getting hold anytime soon.

2. We have a lot of idiots in our T&T police force who on a power tripping thing but have little interest in actually catching real criminals (that is too much hard work for them posers).

If he really was breaking curfew, i dont see what the problem with him being arrested, i didn't know footballer exempt from the law. Police launch investigation on how he get bail and using the magistrates underground car park to get away from the media which is not for public. Rules of law cant be for certain people only.

Try to untangle yuhself by asking yourself this!

What is the purpose of this curfew?

If yuh can’t work out the answer then fear not because both you and the PP government are in the very same position!

What the purpose of the curfew have to do with anything? If the man was actually breaking curfew then he has to with the deal law. Let the courts decide that. What politics have to do with this? Im not hear to debate whether the curfew good or not.

You talking shit... police have discretion in enforcing the curfew.  This was supposedly an emergency where one of the group suffered a head wound. Police take the wounded man to the hospital and arrest the others in the group (based on reports) this makes sense to you?  There is recent precedent where people going to the hospital etc. were just warned and sent on their way or otherwise allowed to proceed. Like Socapro say, you getting bamboozled.
