Stern John makes comeback with Solihull Moors
nonleague.pitchero.com

Moors have given former Trinidad & Tobago international striker Stern John a chance to make a comeback after a year out of the game. John made his international debut for Trinidad in February 1995 against Finland and represented his country on 114 occasions scoring seventy goals.

He is the fourth highest international goalscorer behind Pelé, Ferenc Puskás and Ali Daei.

He started his soccer career in the USA playing for Columbus Crew in Ohio and New Orleans Riverboat Gamblers and moved to Nottingham Forest in 1999.

He remains a legend at Birmingham City and Coventry City and also played for Southampton and Crystal Palace.

During his professional career he has played 467 league games and scored 163 goals.

Moors have also signed midfielder Reece Fleet.

Fleet started his career in the youth academy at Birmingham City. He was released at the close of the 2010/11 season, but as the son of ex-Oxford City keeper Colin Fleet, it was no surprise that he joined City for the start of last season when they won promotion to the Conference North.

He also turned out for Hungerford Town towards the end of the last campaign.

Met alot of people last couple of years especially this July and August but I'll just post the Trinibago ones since it makes no sense posting the other since it's not Stern John or TNT related. I know that these people are just people you guys know to most of you lot. Bit different to an outsider like me and a Football, Soca and T&FNut (The latter is an obsession lol)

Second time I've met RT.

Stern John will know his fate in December

Stern John will know his fate in December
By Anna-Lisa Paul (T&T Guardian)

Soca Warriors striker Stern John and three others, who were charged for breach of curfew last year, will have to wait until December to know their fate. The former international footballer, along with sisters Theresa and Terry Ann Humphrey and Denisha Mayers reappeared before Chief Magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar in the Port-of-Spain Eighth Court yesterday. The four are charged with a breach of curfew last October after they were held at the corner of French Street and Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook.

During the state of emergency, which began on August 22 and ended on November 6, citizens were warned against being out-of-doors during the limited 9 pm to 5 am curfew. When the four appeared in court on October 17, they pleaded not guilty to the offence and were granted $1,000 bail each. They are represented by Keith Scotland and Asha Watkins, while George Busby is prosecuting.

Standing before Ayers-Caesar yesterday, Busby apologised for being unable to proceed as he said he had only received crucial evidence last Thursday and was yet to disclose the material to the defence. Saying he had received CCTV footage and was still awaiting other evidence, Busby requested a short adjournment as it would take more than two days to fully disclose all the items.

Referring to “a straightforward matter which has now become complicated,” Scotland requested a date in December, to allow the defence team to thoroughly analyse the evidence. Ayers-Caesar later adjourned the matter to December 11.

Stern John expects player ‘shake up’

Stern John expects player ‘shake up’
By Jensen LaVende (Express).

VETERAN footballer and former striker of the Trinidad and Tobago senior team Stern John said that the time has come for players to prove themselves.

John made the comment yesterday during an interview with the Express. John said the hiring of new coach Stephen Hart would mean that the players would experience a “shake up”. John said the time has come for the players to stand and be counted, and place the country back on the football map.

“Right now we need leaders. The players need to step up and be counted. No one respects us right now; We need to get the respect on a world stage,” John said.

John added that it does not matter whether the coach is local or foreign. He added that former national coach Leo Beenhakker, who led the “Soca Warriors” to World Cup in 2006, made the team buy into his dream.

It is unlikely that we will see an international player score 100 goals for his country for a long time. The closest that any player in recent times has come in Trinidadian, Stern John, who managed to put the ball away 70 times in 115 games.  Even the greatest goalscorer of modern day football, Mr. Messi has only managed to score 35 goals in 82 games for Argentina.

Stern John concerned about testing.
« Reply #1678 on: October 11, 2013, 02:00:06 AM »
Stern John concerned about testing.
T&T Express Reports.

Former national player Stern John has raised some concerns about the testing methods Trinidad and Tobago defender Akeem Adams might have undergone at his Hungarian Club Ferencvaros prior to having a heart attack on September 25.

John was speaking on Wednesday at the Eddie Hart Ground in Tacarigua, where he was one of several former national players giving their views on development work to be done at the Tacarigua Recreation Ground..

The former T&T captain, who has played for international clubs such as Sunderland and Southampton, is questioning whether Adams’ Hungarian club did a proper analysis of his physical condition before he got the heart attack.

All indications from Adams’ Hungarian club are that proper methods were  followed and that the player showed no sign of heart disease. Also, Adams had played two junior FIFA World Cups with T&T, during which time he was tested and given a clean prognosis by Dr Terrence Babwah.

John’ s concern is that Adams might be the latest local player to suffer mistreatment and poor treatment in the international arena. With the situation as it is, John said it is unfortunate Adams got the heart attack so early in his international career.

Meanwhile, John is among several football personalities who are supporting plans by the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SPORTT) to build a modern sporting facility at the Eddie Hart Ground. Others backing the move are former PNM MP Eddie Hart, who has successfully run the Eddie Hart Football League for 47 years at the venue, former national team manager Sam Phillip, and ex-national youth player Kevin Jeffrey.

The Eddie Hart Ground, soon to be renamed the Eddie Hart Regional Sport Complex, will be getting a $190 million face-lift. The new venue is expected to be fitted with a 900-seat covered pavilion, an athletics track, and a multipurpose court for other sporting disciplines. There has been an argument from some quarters for the venue to remain a green space, but Hart is among those who feels that development is a proper step.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.
