Eastern Conference.

Eastern Conference leaders East/West Coaching School recovered from their first defeat, 1-0 to second-placed T&T Coast Guard on Tuesday, and went on a goal-scoring spree to win their round seven Emerald Apartments and Plaza League fixture against Club TSTT 8-3 at Five Rivers on Sunday.
Shurland David stood out with a hat-trick, Marlon Whitehall had two and a goal each from Jovon Critchlow, Zavier Laguerra and Leslie Holligan for Coaching School saw them to victory. TSTT had Kiev Vanloo, Dwight Crichlow and Don Endeavour to thank for their goals. In the Western Conference, Carib FC shot to the top of the nine team group with a 1-0 win over Curepe Progressive in St Joseph on Saturday, the lone goal of the match came from Christopher Harewood.

W Connection Under-10’s 2005 youth champs.

Neil Benjamin scored a hat-trick and Rahim Copper put in one as the W Connection Under-10 footballers earned their club its first piece of silverware for the 2005-2006 football season on Thursday as they beat Chaguanas RC 4-2 in the CFA’s 2005 Six-a-side Youth Competition at the Central Regional Sport Arena.
Earlier in the day Connection beat Cap Off Youths 3-1 on goals from Benjamin, and brothers Rahim Jaffet Cooper to advance and Chaguanas’ Dean O’Garro scored a double to see them past Flamingo 2-0 and into the final.
O’Garro was again on song and scored a double in the final against Connection but his efforts were not enough to earn them the title.
In the Under-13 age group Brilliant Bargain and Phase IV advanced to the group three final after beating Chaguanas United and Claxton Bay. They join Group One finalists St Mary’s and Las Lomas and Group Two finalists Tabaquite and W Connection in the finals on Thursday.

Fire, Cocorite in thrilling draw.

Sean Ja and Marvin Harper scored twice for Fire Service and Cocorite United respectively as the teams battled to a 3-3 draw in their NFA Premier Division League tie on Sunday, the second day of matches in the competition, at the St Francois Ground, Belmont.
Fire’s other scorer was Richard Arneau and Garfield Weekes’ goal was Cocorite’s third to make sure that both teams shared the spoils of war.
On Saturday, Medianet Orie beat Cosmos Eagles 2-0 on goals from Michael Charles and Garvin Gulston on Harvard ground, Serpentine Road. There were 20 goals in the league’s first six matches and this year’s competition promises to equal the excitement of previous years.

Fyzabad Community League kicks-off.

After a year’s hiatus, the Fyzabad Community Football League is back and this year’s ten-team competition got off to an exciting start at the Petrotrin Fyzabad Recreation Ground on Friday.
The ten teams Fyzo Ball Players, Avocat United, T&TEC F.C, Petrotrin New Comers, Standard S.C, Colley Street Strikers, Juventus, Dow United, Gons and Pepper Village Ball Players paraded to the sounds of the Petrotrin Cadet Corp.
Pepper Village was adjudged the best team on parade, dethroning previous champs Juventus, while Shelly Ann Cupid of Fyzo Ball Players was named the best queen on parade.
Defending champs Juventus won the opening day’s 7-a-side mini-tourney as they beat debutants Fyzo Ball Players 3-2 on penalties to claim the Victor Delwyn trophy.
Juventus showed that it had not developed any rust after the year’s respite as they trampled Dow United 5-0. Captain Shawn Williams notched a first-half hat-trick and goals from Kervin Fraser and Leon Baptiste completed the comfortable victory for the defending champs on Saturday. Matches continue at the Petrotrin Fyzabad Recreation Ground every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
