Silvio re-joins W Connection.
T&T Newsday Reports.

Former W Connection and national midfielder Silvio Spann has returned to the T&T Pro League after a year abroad. Spann has decided to re-join W Connection, the club where he started his professional career. Club owner David John-Williams confirmed the development to ttproleague.com yesterday.
“Yes he is back and has already signed a contract with us (W Connection). Silvio’s last contract with us ended during his stint in Japan with Yokohama FC and from there on he was a free player. We have always had high regards for Silvio and we feel he has the ability to play at the international level,” John-Williams said yesterday.
“Silvio has always been a part of the W Connection family, having come through our youth system and he was our first Under-20 captain in 1999.
“Since his injury Silvio has been working on his own to regain fitness with a couple of trials and training with various clubs in England and now he is ready to come back with us,” said John-Williams. Spann last played for Trinidad and Tobago last May in the Soca Warriors’ farewell match before the World Cup.
However, he suffered a hamstring injury during a training camp in Manchester, preventing him from showing off his talents on the big stage in the 2006 World Cup in Germany. He spoke with ttproleague.com on his return to the Couva-based club. “I’m home to start over from scratch and if you look back at my football career, this is where I belong, W Connection is my home.
“Whenever I feel like I’m lost, the best thing to do is to come back home.
I thought after my stint in Japan and after the World Cup, I would have gotten a new contract in Europe, but things didn’t work out,” he said.
“I am back to full fitness now and making the national team is in my main focus. I have already spoken to the national coach (Wim Rijsbergen) and he is very interested in my progress.
“So for now, I’ll have to get some games under my belt with W Connection. Hopefully I will be able to make the team for the upcoming Digicel Cup and onwards,” said Spann.
“I also hope by early next year, January or February I will be able to obtain foreign interests and maybe a contract. If not, then I would have to continue to work on my game. But for now, I am committed to W Connection and enjoying the rest of the season,” he said. W Connection’s coach Stuart Charles-Fervier also welcomed Spann back into the fold.
“We are happy to have Silvio back with us, he is a product of W Connection and will always be. We had a big part to play in his football education and he has developed well under us.
“He has always been great with his teammates and club management, so I see him falling into place easily,” said Charles-Fevrier.

Now... none of us really expected him to stay a free agent FOREVER
