Nathaniel Garcia Thread.

Garcia aims to cement Senior Team selection.
TTFA Media.

Central FC midfielder Nathaniel Garcia is eager to make a strong impression in national colours as he attempts to show head coach Dennis Lawrence what he has to offer as the build up continues towards the September 1st World Cup qualifier against Honduras at the Ato Boldon Stadium.

So far, Garcia has done his part, completing a week of training and earning selection on the 19-man squad that will depart today (Monday) for Guayaquil to take on Ecuador in an international friendly on Wednesday. The team will arrive in Guayaquil on Monday night and will have one training session on Tuesday ahead of gameday.

“It’s been a good week of preparation for us,” Garcia told TTFA Media.. “The step up has been good. We’ve all worked hard and tried to follow the instructions of the coach. I’ve had a chance to be around the training before and now this is another opportunity for me to really make a good impression because I’d love to get a look for the World Cup qualifying games in September,” Garcia added.

“The current squad has a lot of local-based players so we are all trying to push for selection and take on board everything the coaches are passing on in the sessions. There’s a lot for us to absorb in these sessions and it’s really getting us in good shape for international football. The level is different,” Garcia noted.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

Gokulam Kerala sign Trinidad and Tobago international Nathaniel Garcia
By Abhishek Kundu (sportskeeda.com)

Bolstering their squad for the upcoming I-League 2019-20 season, Gokulam Kerala have signed Trinidad and Tobago international midfielder Nathaniel Garcia. The 26-year-old has three international caps to his name and is making the move from Point Fortin Civic FC, which finished eighth in the 2018 Trinidad and Tobago Pro League.

Nathaniel becomes the third player from the Carribean nation to sign for Gokulam Kerala following the footsteps of Andre Ettiene and Marcus Joseph Jr. Both the players featured in the 2019 Durand Cup title-winning squad with Marcus bagging the top goalscorer award after scoring 11 goals in 5 matches.

Nathaniel made his debut for Trinidad and Tobago national team last year coming off the bench in a friendly against Martinique. He was also a part of the national team squad which played two CONCACAF Nations League A matches against Martinique but remained as an unused substitute.

In his club career, Nathaniel played in the CONCACAF Champions League against MLS sides LA Galaxy, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and Sporting Kansas City. He also won three successive TT Pro League titles with Central FC.

Continuing their pre-season preparations after winning the Durand Cup, Gokulam Kerala will visit Maharashtra to play friendly against ISL side Mumbai City FC on Friday. They will take on Bengaluru FC next followed by Chennaiyin FC and Jamshedpur FC.

Despite losing some key Indian players in VP Suhair and Arjun Jayaraj, their foreigners are expected to light up this edition of the I-League. Alongside Marcus Joseph Jr, Andre Ettiene, and Nathaniel Garcia, they have former Delhi Dynamos and Chennaiyin FC midfielder Bruno Pelissari and former Mohun Bagan striker Henry Kisekka.

Indian players like Ubaid CK, Ashok Singh, Myron Mendes, Malemngamba Meetei, and Dharmaraj Ravanan will supplement the foreign signings for Gokulam Kerala in I-League this season.

Garcia joins Joseph, Ettiene in India.
T&T Guardian Reports.

T&T international midfielder, 26-year-old Nathaniel Garcia has signed with Indian I-League club Gokulam Kerala for the 2019-2020 season making the move from Pt Fortin Civic FC, which finished eighth in the 2018 T&T Pro League.

Nathaniel becomes the third player from the T&T to sign for Gokulam Kerala following the footsteps of Andre Ettiene and Marcus Joseph Jr, who both featured in the 2019 Durand Cup title-winning squad with the latter bagging the top goalscorer award after scoring 11 goals in five matches.

Garcia made his debut for T&T last year coming off the bench in a friendly against Martinique and was also a part of the national team squad which played two Concacaf Nations League A matches against Martinique but remained as an unused substitute.

So far in his club career, he has played in the CONCACAF Champions League against US Major League Soccer's LA Galaxy, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and Sporting Kansas City and won three successive T&T Pro League titles with Central FC.

Looking ahead to the new season, Joseph has set his eyes on the I-League.

"It was a good feeling to be the top scorer of Durand Cup. If you don't score goals, you don't win matches."

Joseph was the top goalscorer in the 2018 T&T Pro League, where he netted 18 goals for W Connection and helped them win the title and the 28-year-old hopes to replicate the same with Gokulam Kerala in the I-League this season.

He said, "Yes, I can become the top goalscorer in I-League. I always do my best to score goals and help my team. My goal is always to score goals and be the best player that I can be."

Reflecting on his display for T&T in the 1-1 draw against Martinique in CONCACAF Nations League encounter, Joseph said, "It is always a great feeling to play for your country. If you represent your country, it means you are one of the top players (in your country)."

Alongside Marcus, the other T&T players who featured in the squad were Garcia (Gokulam Kerala), Daneil Cyrus (Mohun Bagan), and Marvin Phillip (NEROCA).

The quintet of Radanfah Abu Bakr (Churchill Brothers), Robert Primus (Churchill Brothers), Taryk Sampson (NEROCA), Willis Plaza (Churchill Brothers), and Andre Ettiene (Gokulam Kerala) are some other players from the Caribbean nation who will also ply their trade in this season's I-League.

In terms of setting targets for the pre-season, Joseph said, "I don't have any target on the number of goals I wish to score in these pre-season games.

"Once I get a chance, I will score. If I get one chance, I will score one. If I get two, I will score two. If I get three, I will score three. This is how football is. You just take your chances. These are just warm-up games. You want to see how fit you are and at what level you are. All these teams are top teams. So, you have to give good performances against them," he signs off.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

Anytime Judah Garcia ends up in India or Indonesia or Malaysia or Thailand or Vietnam or the Phillipines or anywhere in the AFC bar the obvious places, he would be receiving BAD guidance laced with the seduction of a paycheck.

Gokulam Kerala's Nathaniel Garcia confident of I-League title win

Gokulam Kerala's Nathaniel Garcia confident of I-League title win
By Nisanth V Easwar (goal.com)

26-year-old Nathaniel Jude Garcia is the third player from Trinidad & Tobago to feature for I-League club Gokulam Kerala this season. The other two are star striker Marcus Joseph and towering centre-back Andre Etienne.

He has already made an impact for the Malabarians, scoring a goal against Bangladesh Premier League champions Bashundhara Kings in the Sheikh Kamal Cup 2019 last month. After spending several years in Trinidad and Tobago, Gokulam Kerala is a brave step for the forward.

"I wanted to know if the place (Kerala) is friendly and comfortable to play football. Marcus is a friend of mine from a very young age, he told me that I can do well at Gokulam and they needed me," he told Goal.

"This season is very important for me. Once I perform, my name goes back home. Once I start scoring goals, I may get a call to the national team again," Garcia, who has featured for his national team in friendlies, added.

The Malabarians have assembled a strong squad for the 2019-20 season of the I-League after a mediocre first two seasons. They have started strongly this time around, winning the Durand Cup and also reaching the semi-final of the Sheikh Kamal Cup.

"It has been a very good experience so far. I expected to win (Sheikh Kamal Cup) because we were the favourites but football is a funny game. We win some, you lose some.

"I really do believe we can win the title this season. But the game is played on the day. We are very confident, we are training really hard and the team has bonded and gelled well. Everyone understands each other," he said.

Garcia is expected to play a big part in the Malabarian journey to glory.

Probably, due to the higher quality coaches and the odd quality foreign player. When our Trini's go to India they tend to do very well, suggesting it's at best a level comparable to the Pro League

Quality is also a function of organization and commercialization. That being the case ...

However, some of the football is pedestrian.

I'm somewhat surprised that the prize $ in the I-League isn't more.  The winner takes less than $150,000 US and 2nd takes $80,000 US. That's about 300K for the Top 4 collectively. Noteworthy.
