As expected, there will be a repeat of last year’s Tobago Intercol final, with defending champion Scarborough and runner-up Signal Hill Senior Comprehensive both winning their semifinal fixtures yesterday at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Bacelot.
In the first match of a double-header at the venue, five-time National Intercol winner, Signal Hill, overcame Mason Hall 3-2.
Anderson Taylor gave Signal Hill the lead two minutes before half-time. The lead was doubled just three minutes after the resumption, Diego Nicholson doing the scoring.
Ken Alleyne got Mason Hall back into the contest with his 54th minute strike, but Signal Hill’s two-goal cushion was restored in the 82nd when Ruell Waldrop found the net.
In time added on at the end of the 90 minutes, Travis Winchester made in 3-2, but no fairytale come-back was forthcoming for the minnows.
Antonio Balfon and Christopher Crosby were on target for Scarborough, as it beat Bishop’s 2-0 in the second match.
At the half, the teams were goalless. The score-line changed in the 48th minute however, with Balfon giving the league champion the lead. Crosby’s late item then capped off a commanding Scarborough performance.
The final is scheduled to come-off at 4 pm on Wednesday at the Dwight Yorke Stadium.
There will also be a repeat of last year’s Central final between Carapichaima and Presentation College Chaguanas.
“Caps”, the league winner and defending zonal Intercol king, crushed Chaguanas Senior Comprehensive 5-0 at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva.
Kareen Beckles got a double, while Bobby Sookraj, who scored the opener, Jevon Cornwall and Trent Lougheed notched one goal each.
Presentation earned its place in the final after defeating Marabella 4-2 in penalty shoot-out.
At the end of full-time and extra-time, the teams were tied 1-1. Tafari Smith gave Marabella a seventh minute lead, before Zerron Forte levelled for “Pres” in the 20th.
Forte, Anton Gill, Navin David and Terron Guy were the marksmen for Presentation in the shoot-out. “Pres” and “Caps” will meet on Thursday at the Couva stadium.
