So how bad is Stern's knee injury?  Is it the same knee that was a problem before?

No goals, but thought I would point out dat Birchall had an assist on one of Coventry's goals, the other one was a tap-in when the goalkeeper failed to hold onto a long-range blaster from who else...Me Mum.

Latapy a man among boys as usual, enuff praise by commentators...except Falkirk gave up a late late goal.

Yorke was a general in midfield for Sunderland.

Carlos Edwards was one of the highest rated in the Luton game even though they lorse, he too had a long-range shot spilled. His workrate was at high peak till the end and was a constant factor in attack.

Here is de clip with Birchall's assists and long-range strike:

Article from de Falkirk game...the writer knows he beheld a BOSS:

KILMARNOCK 2 FALKIRK 1
By Neil Cameron

Scottish Daily Record

THERE are times when football is just brilliant and it's these occasions which remind us why we sit in the cold for two hours on a Saturday.

It's why you travel the length of the country to watch your team, who then lose. It's why you go again the next week even after a shocking game with no goals, no shots, nothing.

Saturday at Rugby Park was one of those brilliant occasions.

The players of Kilmarnock and Falkirk can take a bow because they combined to produce a fantastic game, full of skill, excitement and tension.

Killie won because they took their chance when they were on top.

Falkirk played some stunning passing football at times but the final ball wasn't quite as good and, at times, they just didn't get that bit of luck.

It's scant consolation for big John Hughes and his players but they are just so good to watch when things click for them.

And here is a personal and heartfelt appeal to Russell Latapy. Please don't retire at the end of this season.

You are a footballing genius and Scottish football needs you.

I'm going to take up smoking just to see if it makes me play like that brilliant little man.

On Saturday, in the pouring rain, there were times when it looked like the ball was stuck to his foot.

James Fowler is a top player for Killie but he didn't know how to handle his opponent.

Latapy's best moment came midway through the first half when he turned Fowler inside and out, feigned to shoot, then did a Ronaldinho as he looked one way before he slipped a pass to Alan Gow.  :o :challenge:

It was utterly mesmerising stuff.

But Killie were great as well and should have been three up early on.

Grant Murray crossed from the right, Danny Invincibile headed goalwards only for Jeroen Lambers to brilliantly save.

Then Garry Hay crossed, Allan Johnston headed towards goal but Falkirk's Dutch keeper saved again.

Falkirk went on the attack when the brilliant Anthony Stokes crossed for Stephen Thompson who missed with his header when he should have at least hit the target.

Next up it was Latapy who shot from outside the box but Graeme Smith was equal to it.

Then Peter Leven hit the post - and this was all in the first half-hour.

Falkirk opened the scoring just before half-time.

Stokes took possession outside the box with his back to goal, turned Gordon Greer and his shot, with the help of a deflection, found the back of the net.

The young Irishman is a star.

Years from now, Falkirk fans will be able to boast that Anthony Stokes once played for them.

At half-time, we caught sight of darts legend Bobby George, who had switched on the Christmas lights in Kilwinning.

I'm not making any of this up-the day just kept getting better.

And, thankfully, the second half was just as good.

Killie levelled just before the hour. Johnston swung in a corner which was touched to the edge of the box and Hay drilled a low shot through a dozen players and into the net.

The winner came in 67 minutes when Leven sent in a dangerous free-kick, Stephen O'Donnell tried to head it clear and succeeded only in scoring an own goal.

Falkirk threw everything at Killie in the last 20 minutes. Woodwork was hit, Smith made saves and chances were missed. You couldn't take your eyes off it.

Kilmarnock striker Colin Nish had been booked early in the game for a foul on Kenny Milne and received a second yellow card for diving in the box when he took the ball past Lambers.

Only the big striker will know whether he lost his footing or dived but it did look as if he took a tumble.

Referee Charlie Richmond was perhaps levelling things up after O'Donnell had also been booked for diving in the box when it looked as if he simply tripped over his feet.

Both managers were proud of their teams, as they should have been.

Killie boss Jim Jefferies said: "We could have been 3-0 up in the first 10 minutes and there was nothing wrong with the way we played in the first half.

"We knew Falkirk would have a lot of possession with the way they set up and Latapy doing so well.

"It was a great game and a real taster for the CIS Cup semi-final between the teams."

And Hughes said: "I enjoyed the game as well, it was endto- end stuff.

"But we need to be a bit more streetwise in matches. We're just disappointed we didn't put it into the net more often. It's as simple as that.

"Both teams had a real go and played some great stuff at times."

As Bobby himself would say, it was magic darts.

MAN OF THE MATCH  Russell Latapy (Falkirk)

MAN BY MAN:

FALKIRK

Jeroen Lambers: Made two brilliant saves early on. Top performance from the Dutchman. 7

Jack Ross: Mr Steady hardly puts a foot wrong these days. 6

Kenny Milne: Settled down after difficult first 20 minutes. 6

Darren Barr: The 18-year-old just goes from strength to strength. 7

Marc Twaddle: Hardly missed a tackle and played his part in attack. 6

Patrick Cregg: Possesses all the skill in the world but just needs to calm down a bit. 6

Steven Thomson: Should have scored with an early header but played well. 7

Stephen O'Donnell: Booked for diving and scored an own goal but he actually had a good game. 6

Russell Latapy: Afootballing god. It's as simple as that. 9

Alan Gow: Is doing everything right but just can't get a goal. 7

Anthony Stokes: Pure class. The on-loan Arsenal teenager is going all the way. 8

I am a man who don't like to criticize Bennie man. But all I have to say as a fan of T&T football is he really made a BAD move in depriving a nation and an individual (Latapy himself) of the special and unique phenomenon that he is to really shine on the world's greatest footballing stage. Before allyuh cuss meh, I am aware that hindsight is 20/20. All I am saying is I can feel the pain of LOSS in knowing what Latapy is capable of and that he was not utilized appropriately. . .
