Sheva linked with San Siro loan

www.soccernet.com

Chelsea's £30million striker Andriy Shevchenko could be sent out on loan to former club AC Milan in the January transfer window.

The Ukranian striker signed from the Rossoneri in the summer, but has thus far failed to make a significant impact at Stamford Bridge.

And according to reports on Wednesday, Blues boss Jose Mourinho has lost patience with the forward after scoring just three goals so far this season.

However they claim he would only be allowed to return to Italy on a six-month loan deal for 'personal problems', as Shevchenko's wife is struggling to settle.

Mourinho would only sanction a move when a replacement is signed, and reports on Tuesday claimed the Premiership champions were lining up a bid for Valencia's David Villa.

Valencia president Juan Soler claimed that no approach had been made by Chelsea, but any buyer would have to pay Villa's buy-out clause, which currently stands at £100million.

I maintain that only a truly GREAT player can dominate in whatever league he plays in.

Sheva's body of work thus far has proven that he is a very good striker, but not in the class of greats as he has struggled in England.

The man now reach England horse? allyuh quick quick to judge men eh. Same thing allyuh was sayin bout Drogba 2 years ago.  So in your estimation, Henry can't be called a "great" striker either then?

Drogba didn't come with the same reputation.  Sheva has been called one of the game's most lethal strikers by many people.  Did Drogba get those props (before this year)?

both Drogba and Henry struggled to score goals when they joined the EPL

Shevchenko IS a class player, he isn't some youngster with potential. With Kiev and Milan he has already proved his class. Give him the same amount of time to adapt to the EPL as Drogba and Henry had, and the goals will flow once again

form is temporary, class is permanant
Son, there's only two things that matter in this life. Family and Football. Everything else is bullshit

Meh point is, yuh can't judge the man so quick, especially on a move to the rough and tumble Prem.  last week Tevez say that the defenders in the Prem are "Like Animals."  Give the man at least a year to proove heself nah man.

I agree... I was one of those disappointed with Drogba, now the man playing like a beast...Sheva is a damn good striker and will prove himself... If Mourinho stuck with Drogba, I find it hard to believe he fed up already of Sheva....

:rotfl:   :rotfl:   I could definitely relate to dat!! but I eh tink he go keep on playin bad.  De man nearly score a wicked bullet but jaaskelainen pull off one of the saves of the season to deny him.  It's not the first time this season i have seen him denied by brilliant goalkeeping, either.  Patience, fellas, he will come through sooner or later.

Milan deny holding Shevchenko talks with Chelsea

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has denied holding talks with Chelsea about a possible return to the San Siro for Andriy Shevchenko.

The Ukraine striker has been linked with a move back to Milan in the January transfer market, after struggling to make an impact with the Blues this season.

Shevchenko moved to London from Milan this summer for £30million but has managed only three league goals and has failed to find the target in the Champions League this term.

'At this time there have not been any negotiations with Chelsea, regarding Andriy Shevchenko's return to our club,' Galliani told his club's official website.

Shevchenko insists he is keen to stay at Stamford Bridge and is eager to become a success.

Shevchenko told the club's official website: 'I give 100% all the time and I am committed and hungry for success with Chelsea.

'I have total respect for the Chelsea club and fans as well as for football in England and the culture of the country.

'There are always good and not so good moments in sport, that's normal. If that means there is opinion and criticism I respect that.'

Even if Shevchenko wanted to return to the San Siro, Italian rules on non-EU signings are likely to stand in his way.

In order to sign him, Milan would have to sell another non-EU player to make way - something they appear unwilling to do.

Also this as well...

Maaaaaaan, from the time that shot left Shevchenko foot, it had GOAL!! written all over it, but Jaaskelainen pulled off a brilliant, brilliant save.  (the ball had serious pace and was dipping slightly away from the 'keeper) FSC did no justice by excluding it from the highlights last night, but is sure to be on "Saves of The Week" next week.  Sheva had a better game against Bolton than he did against Manu.......so did Ballack, of course, but I think the man is feeling pressure and it is showing in his game.  I guarantee allyuh, the manu and ass-n'-all fans that calling him a flop are crossing their fingers and holding their breath when they doing that.

Sorry, but that is an indefensible statement since no great player has ever proven himself in every tough league in the world. What leagues did Pele dominate? Baresi? Van Basten? Romario?...how did they do in the EPL? Ronaldinho was a bust in France. Berkamp didn't cut it at Inter. Even if you don't agree that these players are great..surely you get my point. The idea you put forth is a romantic theory that is unprovable. Of course many will not find Sheva that great, but it should not be because he is not firing on all cylinders in the EPL.

Personally I think Sheva is a great player for what he did with Dinamo Kiev and Milan. He also lead a mediocre Ukraine to the quarters of the WC in their first try, and he was heavily marked. His CL scoring record is remarkable showing that he could terrorize any defense in Europe. The man is class. Don't get tie up with Sheva contribution for Chelsea either...Drogba has scored more goals in the EP and CL this season already than he did all last year...and that is in part down to finally having a mobile strike partner who could drop deep and run at defenses, instead of having to lead the line alone, or sharing it with a penalty box specialist like Crespo. The goals may never come like they did at Milan becasue he is playing a lot deeper..but I think he will still score more regularly than he is now with a little more time
