Darrel Brown became only the third Trinidad and Tobago sprinter to lift the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Senior Championship men's 100 metres crown when he produced a sizzling 10.02 seconds run at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas, late last night.
Brown followed in the footsteps of 1975 champion Charlie Joseph and '77 gold medallist Hasely Crawford.
Brown's clocking, a new Championship record, earned him the narrowest of victories over his compatriot Marc Burns, who was also credited with a 10.02 run.
Just two-thousandths of a second separated the T&T sprinters (10.014 to 10.016) in the thrilling duel.
Churandy Martina of the Netherlands Antilles copped third spot in 10.10.
