T&T, Jamaica schoolboys in friendly clash.
By: Mervyn Stewart (Trinidad Express).

TRINIDAD AND Tobago's Secondary Schools Under-20 footballers will faceĀ their Jamaican counterparts in an annual clash of regional Secondary Schools Football League's teams at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium this afternoon.
The first clash of the two-match series kicks off at 4.00 pm, while the second game is carded for Queens Royal College ground on Monday afternoon.
T&T have a contingent of 22 players in training under the watchful eyes of coach Leon Carpette and his assistant Trevor Spicer.
The local contingent include goalkeepers Gelnroy Samuel (San Juan Sec) and Jeremy Tenia (St Benedict's); defenders Cion Samuel (Naparima), Duane James (St Anthony's), Gyasi Joyce (St Agustine), Keion Goodridge (Mucurapo), Dwayne Nicome (Malick), Holland Joseph (St Augustine), Jerome Williams (Scarborough); midfielders Solomon Bereton (Moruga), Keston Smith (Naparima), Trevin Caesar (Scarborough), Keron Doldron (QRC), Yuwil Legendre Scott (Trinity), Anthony Guppy (San Juan), Elijah Manners (San Juan), Renato Ramcharan (Naparima), and strikers Nigel Wright (Naparima), Jonathan Glenn (St Anthony's), Kevon Piper (Mucurapo) and Ricardo Peltier (Mucurapo).
The Jamaican contingent are expected to field at least seven of their Under-20 players who suffered a 1-0 loss the T&T outfit in the recent CFU Under-20 qualifying series.
Jamaica won that series 2-1 on aggregrate after capturing the first encounter 2-0 and they will be full of confidence going into this afternoon's fixture.
The junior "Reggae Boyz" also won last year's edition of this series by capturing both legs on home soil.

No its a serious question. Was it an individual or a panel of coaches ? The report just gives a list of names.

I dont know thw reason why, but that is why men like Elton John, Khaleem Highland, Foncette,  and the guys from the u16 not there

btw--- did Leston Paul play any SSFL football this year ?? Or is he still injured??

This was discussed a long time ago in a different thread..No T&T national players were going to be selected to the Schoolboy team. THAT IS A GOOD THING. I think the more youths that get a little international/regional exposure, the better for our football. Even though the schoolboy team is not officially a national team, they are representing T&T, they will be seen by coaches of all levels and they are all Under 20 and Under 17. So you see, the national youth player pool just got larger by default, just by including a few new faces that otherwise would have been watching from the stands. It improves T&T's chances of unearthing some talent that didn't make the national team and may have just fallen by the wayside.

Jamaica's under 20 players who are still in school will play only because it makes complete sense logistically and economically. They are already in the country, so it costs less to bring the rest of the team to join them, than to fly them back and bring a whole new squad.

so what about strikers , Yohance Williams , Jevon Morris , Sherron Joseph, midfielders Kieran Marin , defender Elijah Belgrave
they not on any national team
Sherron Joseph top goal scorer for ssfl 14 goals (possibly just top in north zone not sure about the 12 and 13 goal wins for tobago)
Jevon Morris who scores almost every match 5 goals in intercol
Whats wrong with this picture?

It does not seem like the strongest team was selected.  It seems like they want to give players who are not on any of the national youth teams  some international exposure.  Some of the big guns from other top schools were left out as well.  I was really suprised about the exclusion of Fatima players.  The explanation above is the best that I can come up with because the Fatima players are clearly more talented than most of the players selected for the school boy squad.

Trying to explain what the football administrators are doing in T&T ? I wish you luck ....the coach is saying he didn't even know who he could have selected for this game !
