Jack Warner on CNC 3 last night...
« on: January 03, 2007, 05:24:44 AM »
Watched the sports show on CNC 3 last night hosted by Roger Sant.
His guest was Jack Warner.
Some of the highlights of the interview were:

1) Jack has been paying the T&T technical staff salary since July 2006…still no official word from Govt on what they going to do. JW said after Jan 07, he will not continue this gesture.

2) Over the next 4 years, the TTFF will need ~$30million to adequately prepare teams for their respective tourneys (camps, friendlies, travel, fees, etc etc). Nothing has been heard from Govt yet on the matter, although the budget was submitted last July.

3) The players strike was the work of 2-3 players with agendas. Dwight Yorke was not the instigator, as JW said money is of little consequence to him. He went on to say that no other players in the history of T&T football history was treated as good as these players….. Time will tell on this situation, but it looks like he is a bit sad about the whole situation.

4) FINALLY, someone else besides me has come out and described T&T's qualification last year for Germany as a lucky hit! JW described it as a lucky abberation, and it will not happen again, we need to get our house in order from now. When we play Ja in a couple years time and if they beat us, let us not cry, cause they have a fixed program already, hired a US million dollar a year coach in Bora, while T&T still can't get any sponsors to help its team. What a shame for a team that participated in the WC 6 months ago.

5) For the U17 WC qualification in Ja in April, 3 of 5 competing teams will qialify, that very good odds. JW disclosed all the other teams are in camps/tours and training in prep..T&T's is waaaay behind on that isue.

6) T&T dropped the ball in terms of football development coming out after the WC.

7) JW was told to stay away from local cricket and planning.

8) JW has had some contact with beenhakker since the WC, but in terms of technical support - NIL, mainly because of lack of funding to make official proposals and draw up plans.

9) JW and Blazer begged for CONCACAF's 4th place team to remain playing Asia, as they all agreed that South America's 5th placed team will be much more difficult. FIFA used the argument that the long travel times was too much of a factor in CONCACAF-ASIA, with a huge disadvantage for the team playing away from home in the first leg.

10) JW approached a local TV station to convince them to bring more coverage of the pro-league games, to build up interest...they rejected it. Says Dexter Skeene is really trying hard, but cant do it by himself.

11) Says that Joe Public players may be getting discriminated against for national call ups, just because people might perceive it as jack's players walking onto national teams…case in point - dwarika, who is having a serious resurgence, but still no call up…Still has faith in the technical staff though.

12) JW lambasted the maintenance of the WC 2001 stadia, and the poor state of pitches now…

13) Praised Lincoln Phillips for the work he is doing at the grassroots level, but says that financing is making it very difficult for him to move mountains...

The general jist of the interview was Govt's lack of $$ support. If they don’t come on board now, private companies will be skeptical too.
I rememebr in the celebration rally after the WC, Manning said that 2010 was a national objective, and would spare no effort in helping T&T recognise this. It looks like politics all over again on this one. Jack was real worked up and passionate, he even a couple times say that he getting carried away and need to calm down..Roger Sant was ketching kicks on him a bit.

Will be nice to get a gov't respons to some of these issues...

What is our under 17 realy up to... Anton should focus on them instead of the senior team...

The Jamaican Under-17 football team is slated to face Mexico National U-17 team in a two leg friendly international series in preparation for the 2007 CONCACAF U-17. The first of the double leg series is scheduled for February 14, with the return leg being played three days later.

Hmmm. Didn't Jack vehemently state that he wasnt funding the team after world cup? How this happening now?

Quote
3) The players strike was the work of 2-3 players with agendas. Dwight Yorke was not the instigator, as JW said money is of little consequence to him. He went on to say that no other players in the history of T&T football history was treated as good as these players….. Time will tell on this situation, but it looks like he is a bit sad about the whole situation.

Is always somebody else with an agenda. Whas Jack agenda?? to rob people blind? I cant think of any other players on the world cup squad who were more heralded than yorke and latas...latas wasnt there....and as he said yorke wasnt the instigator. So who could it be? And what would be the purpose of this said agenda anyhow?
Quote
5) For the U17 WC qualification in Ja in April, 3 of 5 competing teams will qialify, that very good odds. JW disclosed all the other teams are in camps/tours and training in prep..T&T's is waaaay behind on that isue.

So who causing this delay? What holding the team back from preparation? Intercol?? ::) What stopping them from preparing?? If something is being done....it still better than doing nothing at all. what going on dey? what van deniesen and corneal doing?

Quote
7) JW was told to stay away from local cricket and planning.

Damn rite. De cricket board now return a million dollars in profit...yuh a benefactor of cricket now? Good lawd. Cricket at least have some sembalance of a youth system to ensure a somewhat continuous supply of players. Like yuh want to kill that too? I remember about 12 years ago this same Jack Warner was saying cricket is dead......now he want to jump on this?? Nah is aight.

Quote
11) Says that Joe Public players may be getting discriminated against for national call ups, just because people might perceive it as jack's players walking onto national teams…case in point - dwarika, who is having a serious resurgence, but still no call up…Still has faith in the technical staff though.

BY WHO?? WIM???  :rotfl: A few years back their players were really present on national teams...and those same players get de axe when they were part of the strike/walkout lead by sancho. Dem only now come back in PFL..and expect everybody to get a pick? If yuh good enough.....sooner or later yuh go get yuh chance!! Case in point...Jemmott.

Quote
13) Praised Lincoln Phillips for the work he is doing at the grassroots level, but says that financing is making it very difficult for him to move mountains...
:rotfl:
Quote
Lincoln Phillips has been confined to goalkeeping duties and has been relieved as technical director.
Bullshit. The man was trying hard and yuh pit of vipers cut him down....and fustrating him. He doing work cuz inspite of allyuh opposition he still making an effort but it could be MUCH easier on him. Allyuh doh want dat to happen. Allyuh rather have a passenger like camps running things rather than a man who doing something.

In short...Some of what Jack saying dey is complete folly and based in politics. De government is de same ting. Jack background of skullduggery and his current political links....(aye...notice..Jack is a high ranking member of two bodies that at the very least PERCIEVED to be corrupt..FIFA and UNC) and as such they have two reasons not to help out. With inept fools like this....really and truly our future looking real bleak. Why this has to happen?

Good Morning and Happy New Year,
Jack crying Crocodile tears. Joe Public being discriminated against? please! He may be right when he says that govt not in sync the the program for 2010. But I don't give Manning wrong. TTFF don't have any transparencies. Should the govt just give him 50 mill. How do we know he is putting the money in the interest of the people who needs it the most.

Just because they are treated better does not mean they are being treated fairly.  That is like saying well nowadays I does only beat my slaves I doh hang them, these slaves treated better than anyothers I have owned before.

Is this a quote from jack or the poster?

Wah he mean we waaay behind, he is the head of the TTFF, this is his responsiblilty, get to the job man!!!

6) T&T dropped the ball in terms of football development coming out after the WC.
see comment above!!!

so basically this interview was Jack talking about everybody else who not doing anything to help football?

Dawarika, that is your evidence of discrimination!!!  come with better ammo than that.

Quote
12) JW lambasted the maintenance of the WC 2001 stadia, and the poor state of pitches now…
who is resonsible for their upkeep?

How much of the World cup money did Jack keep back from the players saying it was being put towards SA2010, that alone should be the jumping off point for all of these things he claiming there is no funding for, give LP some of that money nah. Where it gone, he aint give it to the players.  Where all the Adidas money??

Amazing eh! FIFA does bawl that Gov't should not get involved with the running of National Football Associations yet he unhappy the Gov't not funding the whole show.

Though I dislike the fact that Manning and his boys did'nt live up to their promises...even in the short term. It is also difficult to accept that they would simply fork out millions of dollars to an organisation that is not noted for its professionalism and is fronted by a figurehead that is almost constantly in the news link with one dodgy deal after another.

I think if any of us were in Manning's posistion we also would be wary of simply handing money over.

Sport is suppose to be funded by the private sector as far as I am concern. Gov't role is to provide the infrastructure. All the private sector want is to make super abnormal profits and not invest in sport.

SPORTT has been giving money once you submit your plans/proposals etc. The only plan the TTFF have is to tief money and full Jack pocket.
