Chelsea Reach Deal For Wright-Phillips
7/17/2005 7:53:00 PM

Chelsea have reached an agreement with Manchester City for Shaun Wright-Phillips after the winger revealed that he wanted to move to Stamford Bridge.
The Premiership champions had a £20m bid rejected on Friday, but are now believed to have had a £21m offer accepted by City.

"As a result of Shaun’s request to speak to Chelsea we have conducted a series of complex negotiations with Chelsea," said a City spokesman.

While Chelsea confirmed: "The transfer is now subject to the agreement of personal terms and the successful completion of a medical."

City boss Stuart Pearce, who on Saturday believed Wright-Phillips would be staying, said: "I’m disappointed he’s made this decision but I respect the wish to play where he feels there’s a great chance to further his career.

"It would be very difficult to sell the football club above what Chelsea can realise in the next 20 years."

Arsenal had been keen on signing the England international, who is the adopted son of former striker Ian Wright.

Damn good player, a right wing player to complement Duff and Robben and less injury prone as well...but 21m? City is really cashing in.
THE WARRIORS WILL NOT BE DENIED.

he might be playing as a right-wing back most of the time just to get into the side...Glen johnson and Ferreira not playing too great right now.

The manager did massive trimming when he first got there. Even players like Crespo was out (he now back), Veron, Mutu, Carlton Cole, Babayaro, Scott Parker and many more have been sent packing in his short stint already.
