The quarterfinal series of the 2007 CONCACAF Champions’ Cup™ are set to begin with the first-leg encounters on 13, 21-22 February and return matches from 28 February – 1 March. COMPLETE BRACKETS
Per the CONCACAF Champions’ Cup™ Rules and Regulations, all eight teams may register up to 30 players to the CONCACAF General Secretariat for participation in the tournament with a roster of 23 submitted to CONCACAF 48 hours before each of the team’s respective match. The players on this list must also be on the 30-player roster, as indictated above, and are the only ones from which the 18-player game Start List is selected.
The 2007 Champions’ Cup begins on Tuesday (13 February) with the Quarterfinal Series 3 as it features the Caribbean Champion, W Connection FC of Trinidad & Tobago, hosting the first CONCACAF Champions’ Cup™ winners, Mexico’s CD Guadalajara in the first-leg at Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella. The return-leg is scheduled for 15 days later at the Jalisco Stadium in Guadalajara.
Winner of the 2002 CONCACAF tournament, Pachuca CF of Mexico will meet Champions’ Cup rookie Guatemala’s Deportivo Marquense in the opening opening-leg of the Quarterfinal Series 1 at the Hidalgo Stadium in Pachuca on 22 February, while the second-leg is scheduled for six days later at the Marquesa de la Ensenada Stadium in San Marcos.
The Quarterfinal Series 2 has the Puntarenas FC of Costa Rica, who are making their debut at the Champions’ Cup, as the home team in the first match on 21 February, against the USA’s Houston Dynamo (formerly San Jose Earthquakes) at Puntarenas’ Miguel Lito Perez Stadium, while the second-leg is set for Aggie Soccer Complex in College Station, Texas on 1 March.
The first US club to win the Champions’ Cup, D.C. United, travel to face two-time champions CD Olimpia of Honduras in the opening match of the Quarterfinal Series 4 at the Tiburcio Carias Andino Stadium in Tegucigalpa on 21 February, while the second encounter is set for RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. on 1 March.
The quarterfinal winners will advance to the Champions’ Cup Semifinal Series scheduled for 13-15 March and 3-5 April.
The Semifinal Series victors will play for the 2007 CONCACAF Champions’ Cup™ on 17-19 & 24-26 April, with the winner also qualifying to the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2007. The Champions’ Cup Runner-up will be one of the three CONCACAF invitees to the 2007 Copa Nissan Sudamericana.
All the quarterfinal series encounters of the 2007 CONCACAF Champions’ Cup™ will be broadcast on television by the FoxSports International regional programming channels (Fox Soccer Channel – USA; FoxSports en Espańol – USA; Fox Sports Latin America Northern Cone – Caribbean, Central America & Mexico).
