Police go under to the Defence Force.
ttproleague.com.

For the first 10 minutes of the game, both teams matched each other strength to strength. The Defence Force began to create opportunities on the right hand side with Terran Winner (right winger) giving Police defenders a tough time due to his nippy footwork and enticing crossing. The Police defenders seemed to have a hard time challenging the pressure of their competition in the first half of the game.

The newly implemented rule of water breaks to ensure hydration was maintained was called at 2.20pm. After the break, Defence Force came from the resumption within minutes as Jakeem Mc Neil took his team ahead with a cool finish after dribbling around the police defenders and leaving the police goalkeeper no chance as his shot buried neatly into the net.

Police would then respond with a cross from the left side from Jananee Ramsaran which was totally misjudged by the Defence Force goalkeeper. As the ball fell into the back of the net, one could notice the police players raise in spirit, but only to see eight minutes before the half time a magnificent pass from Defence Force -Chileon Phillip to put Michel Poon-Angeron one on one with police custodian as he dribbled the on rushing goalkeeper and rolled the ball in to the back of the net.

The second half started of brightly for police, as their striker smothered his shot straight into the hands of the Defence Force’s goalkeeper, Jordan Bidaaisee, which ended in a missed opportunity. Defence force showing their brilliance in front of goal once again, leading up from a cross from the right hand side of the field saw Kalev Keil converting his shot effortlessly with the cross ball beating everyone but him.

Police did not give up neither did Jordan Bidaaisee and his team mates after a stunning save which kept out Jerome Mason’s free kick which came curling to the top left hand corner.

Police did not relent in search of another goal and created two delicious chances which saw Elijah Williams heading wide in the six yards box and his other attempt gracefully going wide off the upright. And so the game would end with Defence Force coming out victorious three goals to one (3-1).

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

Nicholas Dillon hat-trick gives Central Reserves comfortable win over Connection.
ttproleague.com.

Nicholas Dillon scored three goals on Wednesday to help Central FC to a comfortable 4-1 win over W Connection in a rescheduled Round One Match Day Two game of the Under-18/Reserve division of the 2016 Youth Pro League.

The win push Central three spots up to occupy the summit of U18/Reserve standings with 6 points—two points ahead of Club Sando, Defence Force and North East Stars—after two games.

Dillion, who turns 19 on March 25 and is a “Couva Sharks” senior team forward, opened the scoring in as early as the 2nd minute at the Ato Boldon Stadium.

Dillon, who usually occupies the substitutes’ bench for the senior team and has just one goal this season in the top flight in a 1-0 win over Point Fortin Civic last October, doubled Central’s advantage on the 54 minute before Connection’s Ruel Tyson reduced the deficit in the 86th minute.

But Isaiah Lopez responded a minute later to restore Central’s two-goal advantage before Dillion, a Trinidad and Tobago Under-20 forward and former trialist at MLS club Portland Timbers, made it 4-1 in stoppage-time by completing his hat-trick—taking his tally to 5 goals from two games in the U18/Reserve league.

Results

W Connection 1 (Ruel Tyson 86’) vs Central FC 4 (Nicholas Dillon 2’, 54’, 90’+, Isaiah Lopez 87’)

Tyrique Sutherland double keeps Jabloteh U14s perfect.
ttproleague.com.

Tyrique Sutherland scored twice in the first half to give San Juan Jabloteh a 2-0 win over hosts Point Fortin Civic in their Under-14 clash of the 2016 Youth Pro League last Sunday.

Jabloteh, last season’s treble (U13, U15 & U17) winners, were also in winners’ row in the Under-16 and Under-18/Reserve divisions at the Mahaica Oval in Point Fortin to stand the only club with a perfect run in Round One Match Day Three.

Sutherland scored in the 7th and 31st minutes to push the Anthony “Dada” Wickham coached-Jabloteh up a spot to lead the U14 standings with maximum 9 points—three points ahead of Defence Force who have a game in hand against Club Sando in all three divisions on March 30.

In the U16 division, Jabloteh kept their place at the top of the standings with maximum 9 points—two points ahead of Morvant Caledonia United and North East Stars—with a goal each from Kisane Lewis (35th minute), Haile Farrell (47th minute) and Nickel Orr (54th minute) for a 3-0 win against Civic.

While in the U18/Reserve division, a second half double through Dareem Daniel (47th & 66th minutes) earned Jabloteh a 2-0 win over Civic.

Central FC (7 points) maintains their place at the top of the U18/Reserve standings but only ahead of North East Stars by goal difference, while Jabloteh are one point behind in third.

Central U18/Reserve players were held to a 2-2 draw by Caledonia at Frederick Settlement Ground in Caroni after the younger “Couva Sharks” went under 3-1 and 4-0 in the U14 and U16 divisions, respectively.

Meanwhile North East Stars were 2-0 winners over W Connection in the U18/Reserve division after edging the “Savonetta Boys” 4-3 in the U16 division and playing to a goalless draw in the U14 division.

Historic Flow Y League is here.
ttproleague.com.

Trinidad and Tobago Pro League Chief Executive Officer Dexter Skeene says the rebranded Y League will transform football in Trinidad and Tobago.

The TT Pro League and Flow Trinidad today announced a three-year partnership that includes the first ever TV rights deal in the history of the League.

The $900,000 deal involves Flow investing TT$300,000 for each of the next three seasons, beginning with the 2016 edition, as well as having naming rights to the competition which will now be known as the Flow Y League (Flow Youth Pro League).

The Flow Y League has three divisions: Under-14, Under-16 and under-18/Reserve.

“Youth football will be on your television screens weekly developing personalities and creating stars of the future,” said an elated TT Pro League CEO Dexter Skeene during the launch of the partnership on Thursday morning at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port-of-Spain.

The Pro League CEO explained, “This partnership is unprecedented because Flow is paying for the broadcast rights for the Youth League. It is the first time in the history of the Pro League that the League has negotiated a six-figure broadcast rights fee. This to my mind is a huge game-changer. It is innovative, imaginative and historic.

“This is a much needed intervention. Hold on to your seats lets go on this ride together to make this even more historic.”

Skeene said the Flow Y League will transform youth football in Trinidad and Tobago “and it is only fitting because the TT Pro League is the highest level in the football pyramid in T&T.”

Skeene lamented that according to economic experts, T&T is facing a difficult guava season – doom and gloom. He said that it has also been well-publicised that Pro League clubs are facing stress and strain [financially], but reminded that every single citizen, entity and organisation, public or private sector, profit or non-profit are also affected.

Skeene added, “What to my mind is most important is that the development of the youth of the country and the development of the people can never be in recession. This morning we are gathered here in my view to affirm that the Pro League has unwavering faith in the talent and potential of the youth of the nation.”

Cindy Ann Gatt, director of marketing at Flow Trinidad, said the partnership emphasises Flow’s commitment to the development of sports in Trinidad and Tobago.

“If you have been paying even a little bit of attention to the initiatives that Flow has been supporting in the past couple of years, it’s easy to recognise that we have increased our commitment to projects that impact our communities.

“Our increased support for sports is two-fold. Yes we do gain visibility as a sponsor and for that we are thankful. But even more important to us, is the chance to make a difference. Our partnerships contribute to give our athletes the opportunity to play, to win, and to live their dreams. This partnership with the TT Youth Pro League is no different.”

Skeene reminded all that the Flow Y League is an important aspect of the TT Pro League achieving its medium and long term sustainability objectives. He said having quality coaching and high quality youth programs are essential components for a high quality TT Pro League.

Flow, the internet, cable and landline provider, recently launched its very own sports channel Flow Sports 95 but will initially air highlights of the Youth Pro League on its local network channel WISports before switching to Flow Sports for local and regional viewership.

T&T Express Reports.

RICHARD ROY scored a double in a losing attempt, as Defence Force had a near perfect comeback before falling 4-3 to Point Fortin Civic in the Flow Youth Pro League on Sunday at Mahaica Oval, Point Fortin.

The action took place in the Under-18/Reserve Division that caters for players over age 17, including older players of any age not getting regular play for their Pro League team, recovering from injury or just needing a “run” to build fitness.

Roy, a member of the Army’s Pro League team, scored twice early in the first half as Defence Force looked to stage a miracle comeback, after trailing the home team civic by a 4-0 margin. Nion Lammy scored twice, including an 11th minute penalty, following a very early Jeremiah Kesar goal, to see Civic in control at 3-0 when the half ended.

Kesar got his second goal of the match in the 57th as Civic went further ahead at 4-0, but the tide turned when the Army footballers netted three goals within an 11-minute period. Roy got two and Tevin Lessey the other in the 61st minute.

The Defence Force had half an hour to get an equaliser, but failed. Victory moved Civic to second on the standings, a point behind leaders San Juan Jabloteh, who dismantled second-from-bottom St Ann’s Rangers 6-2.

Lawrence urges youngsters at Flow Youth Pro League 2017 launch to be ambitious.
ttproleague.com.

Dennis Lawrence, unknown to many, had walked in the shoes of those considered not good enough for the game.

Now, following an extensive playing career that took him all over the world; a FIFA World Cup, the professional leagues of England and Wales, then coaching at England's Premier League and winning the English FA Trophy as an assistant coach at Everton, to now back in his homeland as coach of the Trinidad and Tobago national team head coach following his most recent coaching stint abroad on the staff of the Belgium national team.

From a pint-sized youngster to 6-foot-eight-inches of a legend, the Morvant-born Dennis “Tallman” Lawrence, to put it short, went from being not good enough to enjoying a lengthy career as a player, now coach of his country's national team.

His headed goal against Bahrain propelled T&T to a historic berth at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. T&T becoming the smallest nation to qualify for a Men’s FIFA World Cup.

“I was told a million times ‘you would not make it’,” said the 42-year-old Lawrence, as he addressed a gathering including age-group players at the launch of the Flow Youth Pro League 2017 on Friday at the VIP Lounge of the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port-of-Spain. “But I had belief in myself, I had belief in the people around me.”

Lawrence was the feature speaker at the launch of the new Flow YPL season which kicks off on Sunday with a slate of matches across Trinidad—kick off times 10am, 2pm and 4pm in the Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17 divisions respectively.

Youth powerhouse Jabloteh, champions of all three divisions in the last two seasons, will kick off their "triple double" defence against Club Sando at the San Juan North Secondary school ground.

Elsewhere, W Connection will host Central FC at Gilbert Park, Morvant Caledonia United are at home to Point Fortin Civic at Mahaica Oval, and St. Ann's Rangers host Defence Force at Trinity College ground Moka.

This is where stars are truly born. Before representing their schools at InterCol, or donning Trinidad and Tobago national kits at various youth levels, top young footballers represent their respective clubs at the junior level of this country’s top tier league, the TT Pro League, putting their practice to the test.

Isaiah Garcia, the current T&T Under-20 captain, comes to mind as a good example. The W Connection teenager has been with the club since Under-10 and had progressed through the youth ranks long before becoming a Shiva Boys College star and T&T youth standout.

TT Pro League Chief Executive Officer Dexter Skeene, in his opening remarks on Friday during the YPL 2017 launch, said, “This year we continue to position this sport property the Flow Youth Pro League or the Flow Y League, as I like to call it, to become the best youth league in the region.”

Skeene explained the YPL, which runs between March to July, is strategically positioned and provides a platform for development of the youth of Trinidad and Tobago.

“From my perspective, it is the most critical property and brand extension in the TT Pro League’s arsenal,” added the Pro League boss who went into detail. “The Flow YPL is important because it is the place where the young footballers hone their skills on the way to playing at the senior level, to becoming professionals, to representing their country. It is where they will learn the rudiments of the game and the tricks of the trade, while being inculcated with the work ethic necessary to make their dreams a reality.

“It is here they receive the exposure necessary and competition against the best talent in their respective age groups throughout the country. It is the one league that has the quality and concentration of players on display, gathered together within several specific age groups.

“It allows true development to take place as games are played once per week on Sundays so that teams, coaches and players have six days to prepare, improve and plan for the following weekend’s games without interruption. Coaches have the opportunity to work on technique and tactics while the trainers and psychologists work on the physical and psychological aspects of the game respectively. It will afford longer recuperation times for players to recover physically from injuries from the previous games, which will increase playing time, the number of games played and ultimately game experience.”

Cindy-Ann Gatt, Director of Marketing at Flow, said her company, now in their second term of a three-season partnership worth $900,000 with the League, is looking forward to another exciting season. Gatt also said that Flow will reward the efforts of players with the introduction of the Player of the Month and Team of the Month in each division.

Gatt said Trinidad and Tobago football heroes such as Shaka Hislop and Dennis Lawrence had different paths to success, “but it all began with an innate love for the beautiful game.

“As the sponsor of the Youth Pro League it is that instinctive passion for the game that each footballer possesses that we are here to support. That spark that you know resides in you--that fuels your desire to excel in this sport, is what we are on board to nurture. So that spark becomes your success in whatever form it takes in the long run, from player to legend—Trinbagonian legend or an English or European legend, or a World Cup legend, anything that comes after. That is our reason for joining you in the Youth Pro League.”

Lawrence, who represented Caledonia AIA, now Morvant Caledonia United, and Defence Force before his move to the United Kingdom, said that coaches and young players are given a fantastic opportunity in the Flow Youth Pro League.

“You [must] have a dream—an ambition,” said the former Wrexham and Swansea City defender. “Enjoy… enjoy, but it is a part of your development, because one day, just like what happened to me, some guy from the UK could be standing in that stand and he could walk over to you and [ask]: ‘what is your name? I would like to speak to you in regards to taking you abroad’. Do not let the opportunity pass, please apply yourself the right way, conduct your work in a professional manner and the sky is the limit for you.”

Less than two months ago Lawrence quit his position as Belgium national senior team scout to take up the post of T&T national team coach.

Lawrence had served under Italian Roberto Martinez for the better part of six years as an assistant coach at Wigan Athletic and Everton and in the English Premier League before following Martinez, who took charge of Belgium.

“What I think is important for the coaches and the players to understand, is that you have to believe in your dream [and that] development is a process,” said Lawrence who recalled his years employed at a grocery for just TT$125 per week.

“(…) what I would like to say to the coaches is please do not allow the result to [negatively] affect the development of the young players. Players are the product. As a young coach trying to develop young talent, your success, from my point of view, should be one day be able to see your players go on to represent the national team, to go abroad and obtain contracts. The immediate result, for me, is irrelevant. What is important is that we understand and recognise the importance of the product—the young players.”

W Connection, Jabloteh, Police FC sweep FYPL age-groups clashes.
T&T Guardian Reports.

W Connection, San Juan Jabloteh and Police FC all came away with 100 per cent winning records from their three age-groups encounters when the 2017 Flow Youth Pro League kicked off on Sunday across Trinidad.

However, while Jabloteh’s players were actually involved in action for all three scheduled matches with Club Sando at San Juan North Secondary, Bourg Mulatresse, San Juan; W Connection only faced rivals Central FC at Gilbert Park, California twice while Police players won without breaking a sweat as Ma Pau Stars failed to show at the St James Police Barracks, Training Ground, Long Circular, St James.

In the Under-13 age-group, Molik Khan netted a hat-trick in the tenth, 16th and 44th minutes to lead W Connection to a comfortable 7-1 bashing of Central FC.

In the Under-15 match-up W Connection got a double from Adica Ash in the 17th and 70th to blank Central 2-0, while in the Under-17 Division, W Connection won by default.

At San Juan, Kanye Baker netted a 14th minute penalty while Jaheim Faustin (27th), the son of former “Strike Squad” utility player Marvin Faustin, and Kosi Charles (70th) were all on target in Jabloteh’s 3-1 whipping of Club Sando which got its lone reply from Joshua Kesney in their Under-13 clash.

Jabloteh also took their Under-15 duel by a two-goals margin with Nickell Alexander and Jerry Morrris the scorers, while in the Under-17s, the trio of Kidane Lewis, Nickell Orr and Terrel Roberts each scored in a 3-0 Jabloteh triumph.

The only other hat-trick scorer on the day was national Under-17 midfielder, Che Benny in St Ann’s Rangers 7-0 mauling of Defence Force at Trinity College Ground, Moka, Maraval.

Club Sando defeated defending champions San Juan Jabloteh in the Under-13 category but the reigning champs managed a victory in their Under-15 and Under-17 matches when the Flow Youth Pro League kicked off Sunday.

Jabloteh, who swept all categories last year, suffered defeat in the Under-13 category, going down 1-3 to Club Sando through goals from Sando's Kanye Baker (14th minute penalty), Jaheim Fustin (27th) and Kosi Charles (70th).

Jabloteh's consolation came from the boot of Joshua Kesney.

In the Under-15 encounter, Jabloteh shut out Sando 2-0 thanks to goals from Nickell Alexander (13th) and Jerry Morris (18th).

And in the Under-17 division, Jabloteh stamped their authority on Sando with a 3-0 shutout. Kidane Lewis (28th), Nickel Orr (50th) and Terrel Roberts (67th) got the goals for Jabloteh.

W Connection registered wins in all their matches against Central FC, including a 6-1 result among the Under-13s; 2-0 in the Under-15s; and a default 3-0 win in the Under-17s.

Molik Khan's hat-trick (10th, 16th 44th,) powered Connection to a comfortable Under-13 victory with Jaden Grant (31st), Levi Jones (49th) and Shakeem Williams (59th) adding one item each. Abdul-Qudoos Hypolite (30th) notched Central's lone goal.

Adica Ash (17th & 70th) grabbed a double for the 2-0 win in the Under-15 match.

Meanwhile, St Ann's Rangers delivered a brutal 7-0 win over the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) in the Under-17 category with St Anthony's College's Che Benny leading the way with a hat-trick (15th, 27th 54th) while teammates Jesse Williams (3rd), Emmanuel Cumberbatch (18th), Nkosi Salandy (37th) and Kesean St Rose (90+) chipping in with one goal apiece.

But Rangers lost by default among the Under-13s and the TTDF eked out a 2-1 win in the Under-15 game when Justin Araujo-Wilson (40th) and Marc Wharfe (61st) found the net, while Jaden Mc Kree scored an own goal.

Elsewhere, Police FC won all three matches by default over Ma Pau Stars.

Point Fortin Civic Centre also claimed a default win over Morvant/Caledonia AIA while splitting results in the Under-15 and Under-17 encounters.

Che Benny bags three in 7-0 win for Rangers U17s over D/Force.

Trinidad and Tobago youth midfielder Che Benny struck twice in the first half before completing his hat-trick after the break to help St. Ann’s Rangers Under-17s to a convincing 7-0 win over Defence Force counterparts on Sunday—the opening day of the Flow Youth Pro League 2017.

Jesse Williams provided Rangers U17's opening item after just three minutes at Trinity College ground, Moka. And, by the half-time whistle Rangers were five-nil ahead after Benny found the back of the net in the 15th and 27th minutes, interrupted by teammate Emmanuel Cumberbatch's 18th-minute item, before Nkosi Salandy got on the scoresheet in the 37th minute.

Benny, who proved an exciting prospect for Rangers first team near the end of the just concluded top flight Pro League, completed his hat-trick nine minutes after the break before Kesean St Rose completed the 7-0 rout on 90 minutes.

It was sweet revenge for Rangers who had earlier--at the same venue--surrendered full points by default in the Under-13 division and lost 2-1 against their Defence Force counterparts in the Under-15 age-group.

Down at the Mahaica Oval, hosts Point Fortin Civic celebrated an earlier 7-0 win over Morvant Caledonia United in the Under-15 division.

Kistoff Bartholomew and Ezekiel Kesar both netted twice for Civic who also had a goal each from Moredecai Brown, Gesiah Bishop and Thaj Neptune against Morvant Caledonia, who, earlier on the day, lost by default in the U-13s division against the southerners.

However the visitors had the last say, defeating Civic 2-1 in the U17s. Jaleni Augustus and Dwight Yorke scored late in the first half to cushion Morvant Caledonia against Civic who grabbed a consolation item near the end through Nkosi Charles.

Elsewhere San Juan Jabloteh, two-time reigning champions of all divisions in the last two seasons, W Connection and Police FC enjoyed clean sweeps in all divisions on Sunday.

Jabloteh defeated Club Sando 3-1, 2-0 and 3-0 in the U13, U15 and U17 divisions respectively at the San Juan North Secondary ground, while Connection, 6-1 winners over Central in the U13s, went on to defeat their Couva rivals 2-0 in the U15s before winning by default in the U17 division.

Police, meanwhile, racked up full points in all three divisions without kicking a ball as North East Stars lost by default.

Police returns against Defence Force on Sunday 12 March for Round One Match Day Two in all three divisions at Trinity East ground. Also, Central FC will host Morvant Caledonia United at St. Augustine Secondary school ground, while Club Sando face St. Ann’s Rangers at Manny Ramjohn Stadium.

Santana Smith hits four for Sando U13s in 14-0 win over Rangers.
ttproleague.com.

Goals rained at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium training field on Sunday morning when hosts Club Sando defeated St. Ann’s Rangers 14-0 in the Under-13 division for their first win in two attempts in the Flow 2017 Youth Pro League.

Santana Smith bagged a beaver-trick, netting in the 20th, 25th, 35th and 45th minutes for the Sando U13s, who were defeated 3-1 by San Juan Jabloteh in their opening game of the YPL season a week ago.

The Sando U13 team’s rebound, which moved them three spots up into third on the standings, also included two hat-tricks and a double under the morning sunshine, but narrowly won their Under-17 clash 2-1 against the St. Ann’s club later in the afternoon after losing by the same score in the Under-15 division.

Anthony Williams, with goals in the 4th, 9th and 39th minutes, and Jeremiah Ottway, finding the back of the Rangers net in the 11th, 59th and 63rd minutes, both ended with three goals each to their names for the Sando U13’s.

Tyrique Lucas started the Sando onslaught with the opening goal in the 2nd minute and got to his double ten minutes later. Llon Hospedales and Joshua Kesney chipped in with a goal each in the 6th and 61th minutes, respectively, to contribute to the biggest result of the new YPL season thus far.

Point Fortin Civic, however, leads the U13 standings with maximum 6 points without kicking a ball, having won their opening fixtures against Morvant Caledonia United and North East Stars by default.

Civic, who also picked up full points by default from North East Stars in the Under-15 and Under-17 divisions on Sunday, also leads the U-15 standings with maximum points but sits fifth on the U17 standings having lost their opening game in that division 2-1 against Morvant Caledonia.

Police FC were unbeatable on Sunday, the little Lawmen defeating hosts Defence Force 3-1 in both the U13 and U15 division before a goalless draw in the U17’s saw both sides walk away with a point which put Police at the top in that division.

Josiah Wilson first half double, netting in the 9th and 11th minutes, set the tone for Police U13’s in the morning period. Defence Force’s Jerrell Gibboms pulled a goal back on 24 minutes but Justin Lewis restored Police’s two-goal advantage three minutes later.

Later on the day, Malachi King (9th minute), Matthias Hinkson (12th minute) and Jaden Andrews (67th minute) each scored for the Blues in the U15 division while Aiden Marcano’s 63rd-minute strike stood the only item for Defence Force.

Central FC’s Round One Match Day Two fixtures against Morvant Caledonia United, meanwhile, are to be rescheduled to another date, a request by the Couva Sharks after the death 19-year-old Nikela John, the daughter of senior team assistant coach Stern John, last Thursday.

San Juan Jabloteh, winners of all three youth divisions in the previous two seasons, also had their YPL fixtures rescheduled due to club’s management staff trip to St. Vincent for Group E play in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championship—the qualifier tournament to the newly re-formatted CONCACAF expanded competitions.

So the Youth Pro League finally changed the age group categories? However, there should still be an age group positioned between the U17s and the Reserves. Is there?

Joshua Mason bags five as D/Force take basket of goals against Morv’t Caledonia in U13 clash
ttproleague.com

Joshua Mason broke into the Flow Youth Pro League 2017 scoring chart with a handful of goals last Sunday as Defence Force Under-13s registered a lopsided 12-0 win over their Morvant Caledonia United counterparts at Trinity East ground in Trincity.

The triumph snapped a two-game winless spell for the Defence Force U13s, who now have a record of 2W-1D-L, and, perhaps, inspired a 9-0 win for their Under-15s over Morvant Caledonia.

But both victories weren’t enough to spur on the Defence Force Under-17s who later fell 6-2 against the visitors despite second half goals from Joshua Ashton and Joshua Evans.

Ackeem Mason and Trevis Byron had given Morvant Caledonia U17s a two-goal cushion in the first half, netting a minute apart, before a second-half double by Dwight Yorke—his second from the penalty spot—followed by a goal each from Malik Mieres and Ethan Bonaparte quelled the hosts attempt of a comeback.

Defence Force remains without a win after four games in the U17 division and just one point, while Morvant Caledonia have six points from three games.

Morvant Caledonia, however, have lost all three outings in the U13 and U15 age groups with last Sunday being another struggle at the park and Defence Force showing no mercy against their counterparts.

Terral Gibson, who ended with a hat-trick for the Defence Force U13s, scored in the first minute of play before wrapping up the scoring with two late goals.

But Joshua Mason, with his goals in the 4th, 18th, 30th, 43rd and 50th minutes, was the star of the morning while team-mates Christopher Brooks, Jaden Seifert, Ethan Marquez and Jaheim O’Brady had a goal each.

Justin Araujo Wilson later led the Defence Force U15s with a first-half hat-trick, taking his tally this season to six goals in four games. Marc Wharfe also grabbed a hat-trick and Aiden Marcano a double before Nicholas Smith capped the 9-0 victory.

Elsewhere last Sunday, San Juan Jabloteh, champions of all divisions in the last two seasons, defeated St. Ann’s Rangers 4-0 and 3-1 in the U13 and U15 divisions, respectively, at San Juan North Secondary. But the young “San Juan Kings” dropped points for the first time this season after they were held to agoalless stalemate against the visitors in the U17 division.

North East Stars snatched full points in all divisions by default over hosts Central FC, while W Connection defeated Police FC 1-0 and 2-0 in the U15 and U17 divisions, respectively, at Gilbert Park after losing 3-0 against the U13 leaders—Police.

Club Sando hosted Point Fortin Civic at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium training field and enjoyed a 4-0 win over the visitors in the U13 division, but were defeated 4-1 in the U15s before both sides played to a 3-3 draw in the U17s.

Jabloteh undefeated run snapped by Police FC.
ttproleague.com.

Jayden Moore struck the winner on Sunday to give Flow Youth Pro League 2017 Under-13 leaders Police FC a 3-2 win over Jabloteh, ending the San Juan side’s undefeated run while maintaining their perfectness at the top after five games.

Nathaniel James equalised twice in the first half for Jabloteh at St. James Barracks outside field after Nathaniel Carim twice put the hosts in the lead.

But Moore, with his first goal of the season, grabbed a late Police winner to keep his side on top with 15 points, while Jabloteh slipped into fourth, although tied on 10 points with Sunday winners Defence Force and W Connection.

Police went on to record another win, defeating Jabloteh 2-0 in the Under-15 age group courtesy second-half strikes from Jaden Andrews and Jamali Nichols.

Jabloteh, however, rebounded with a 1-0 win over the hosts in the Under-17 division to maintain their lead on the standings with 13 points thanks to Kyle Thomas netting the decisive item eight minutes from time.

Point Fortin Civic moved into the U-15 standings lead with 12 points after edging visitors W Connection 1-0 through Mordecai Brown’s early item, but are only ahead of Defence Force and Jabloteh by a better goal-difference.

Defence Force, cushioned by a first-half Justin Araujo Wilson double at the Arima Velodrome, defeated host team North East Stars 3-1 in the U15s after a Joshua Mason double inspired a 2-1 win Defence Force in the U13 division.

But North East Stars stormed back in the U17 division to whip the visitors 5-2. Jaydon Prowell, Elisha Garcia, Kobe Douglas, John-Paul Rochford and Jeremiah Jobe all got on the score sheet for North East Stars while Alexi George and Jakeem Mc Neil were the scorers for Defence Force.

Elsewhere St. Ann’s Rangers defeated Central FC 5-1 and 4-0 in the U15 and U17 divisions, respectively, after losing 5-1 to the little Sharks in the U13 division.

In other U13 results, W Connection defeated Civic 2-0 and Club Sando handed Morvant Caledonia United their fifth straight loss with an 8-0 hammering.

Morvant Caledonia, though, held Sando to a 3-3 draw in the U15 division before finishing with a 5-1 win in the U17s.

Justin Araujo Wilson hat-trick propel Defence Force U15s top in Flow YPL.
ttproleague.com.

Justin Araujo Wilson banged in second hat-trick of the 2017 Flow Youth Pro League (YPL) last Sunday to put Defence Force at the top of the Under-15 standings with a 3-0 win over Central FC ahead of the Easter break.

Wilson, last season’s runaway YPL top-scorer, scored his 9th, 10th and 11th goals of this season in the 2nd, 29th and 54th minutes against the visiting Central at Trinity East to lead the overall scorers’ list for 2017.

The Defence Force U15s, however, are tied on 15 points with second-place Jabloteh after the San Juan club edged previous leaders Point Fortin Civic 1-0 at San Juan North Secondary courtesy a second-minute Micai Peters strike.

Jabloteh were big winners in the Under-13 division with a 10-0 romp over Civic, and completed the trifecta against the southerners with a 2-0 win in the Under-17 division.

Nathaniel James and Kanye Baker each bagged a hat-trick while Jaheim Faustin ended with a double and Nkosi Ambrose and Israel Joseph with a goal each for the Jabloteh U13s.

The impressive scoreline moved Jabloteh up two spots into second behind leaders Police and ahead of third-place W Connection by goal-difference.

Jodel Brown and Kyle Thomas both scored for Jabloteh U17s as the hosts maintained their grip of top spot in the division three points ahead of second-place W Connection who edged Morvant Caledonia United 1-0.

Connection, like Jabloteh, ended the day on a clean sweep after defeating Morvant Caledonia 4-0 and 2-1 in the U13 and U15 divisions, respectively.

Defence Force, however, didn’t enjoy such success after they were defeated 3-2 by Central in the U13 division. Central also ended with triumph in the U17 division edging Defence Force 2-1 for their first win of the season.

YPL action resumes on Sunday April 23 following the Easter break.

Jabloteh U13s crush cellar-placed Morv’t Caledonia 12-0 but Police maintain five-point lead
ttproleague.com.

San Juan Jabloteh resumed play in the Flow Youth Pro League 2017 with a 12-0 hammering of cellar-placed Morvant Caledonia United in the Under-13 division last Sunday.

Jabloteh, pushing for a “triple treble” this season having won all three divisions in the past two seasons, also defeated Morvant Caledonia 3-0 and 1-0 in the Under-15 and Under-17 divisions, respectively.

Nathaniel James led the visitors’ U13 scoring with five goals to his name, first converting a penalty in the third minute at the Maracas St. Joseph Recreation Ground. James, possibly recharged by the Easter break, also found the back of the net in the 9th, 22nd, 35th and 70th minutes, putting his tally at 11 goals this season to lead the U13 scorers’ list.

Teammates Israel Joseph (64th and 68th minutes) and Nkosi Ambrose (34th and 35th minutes) each grabbed a double while Lindell Sween (10th minute), Jaheim Faustin (17th minute) and Ezekiel Stapleton (63rd minute) also capitalised on the goal-feast as the hosts remain slumped at the bottom of the U13 standings without a point after seven games.

Jabloteh (16 points), though, remain second behind runaway leaders Police FC (21 points), who defeated Central FC 4-2 for a seventh straight win in as many matches.

Police, like Jabloteh, enjoyed a trifecta on the day, by also winning against Central 2-0 and 4-1 in the U15 and U17 divisions, respectively, at St. James Barracks outside field.

Club Sando (13 points) moved up a spot into third on the U13 standings with a 2-1 win over mid-table Defence Force, hurdling W Connection by goal-difference after the young “Savonetta Boys” were edged 3-2 by North East Stars.

In the U15 division, Sherwin Mulzac, Jael Mason, Terrell Wiley each had a goal in the first half to earn Jabloteh victory over Morvant Caledonia, to keep the San Juan side within striking distance of U15 leaders Defence Force, who defeated Club Sando by the same score-line.

Both teams are tied on 18 points with Defence Force only ahead of Jabloteh by goal-difference. Point Fortin Civic and Police follow in third and fourth place, respectively, tied on 15 points.

Jabloteh, however, are five points clear at the top of the U17 standings thanks to Rivaldo Coryat’s late strike against Morvant Caledonia.

Coryat, with his first goal of the season, snatched the winner with two minutes left as Jabloteh (19 points) extended their gap on rivals W Connection (14 points), who were held to a goalless draw by North East Stars.

It was another disappointing result for Connection, who surrendered a two-goal cushion, courtesy a Jaden Grant first-half double, to lose 3-2 in the U13 division against the hosts North East Stars at the Arima Velodrome.

However the visitors, Connection, were winners in the U15 division, rebounding from a deficit three minutes into the game to edge North East Stars 2-1 through second-half strikes from Nicholas Dyett and Jamal Lewis.

Police U13s rain goals on Morvant Caledonia Utd in sunny Maracas.
ttproleague.com.

Police FC Under-13 players struck a pot of goals under the sunshine of last Sunday when they whipped Morvant Caledonia United 11-0 at the Maracas Recreation Ground in the final match-day of Round One in the 2017 Flow Youth Pro League.

Nathaniel Carrim ended with a second-half hat-trick, taking his tally to nine goals in as many matches for the Blues, while team-mates Jayden Moore, Jaron Pascall and Tyreke Harding each had a double, and Fabien Ayres and Imani Lewis one each in the comfortable Police U13s win.

It wasn’t, however, the heaviest defeat suffered by the table-propping Morvant Caledonia U13s who remain without a point and a game in hand against another side without a point, St. Ann’s Rangers.

Morvant Caledonia who were twice defeated 12-0 this season (against Defence Force on 26 March and San Juan Jabloteh on 23 April), suffered the worst loss in all divisions this season, 13-0 in a rescheduled clash against Central FC on 30 March.

The latest double-figure, however, kept Police (27 points) at the summit of the U13 standings, five points clear of closest challengers San Juan Jabloteh, who leads the Under-15 and Under-17 standings.

Nathaniel James scored his 13th, 14th and 15th goals of the season to steer Jabloteh U13s to a 4-2 win over Defence Force at Trinity East in Trincity.

Jabloteh also defeated the hosts 1-0 and 2-0 in the U15 and U17 divisions, respectively, to complete the trifecta as did Police against their Morvant Caledonia U15 and U17 counterparts.

Matthias Hinkson, Ajay Ward and Jardel Joslyn, with his first Police goal this season, each scored against Morvant Caledonia U15s for a 3-1 victory. Jardell Mitchell scored the lone Morvant Caledonia U15 goal which turned out the only item for the hosts last Sunday after the U17s outfit fell 3-0 against Police.

Zion Mc Leod, Romario Burke and Kareem Grant were the latest heroes for Police, who occupy fifth position on the U17 standings, and will next travel to Ojoe Road Recreation Ground in Sangre Grande against North East Stars on Sunday 13 May.

Darius Douglas trick not enough as Rangers U15s edged by Defence Force counterparts in Flow YPL
ttproleague.com.

Darius Douglas scored his second hat-trick of the season last Saturday but it wasn’t enough as the attacking midfielder and his St. Ann’s Rangers Under-15 team-mates were edged 4-3 by Defence Force in Round Two Match Day One of the Flow Youth Pro League 2017.

Douglas, now with 9 league goals this season, scored in the 51st, 55th and 57th minutes to overturn a two-goal first half deficit after hosts Defence Force took into the break a two nil lead courtesy a Joshua Samuel double (37th & 39th minutes).

But unlike his hat-trick in a 5-1 win against Central FC on 2 April, Douglas’ latest exploit came in a losing result at Trinity College East in Trincity.

Defence Force had struck back twice within a space of three minutes, grabbing the equaliser through Jeremiah Williams in the 78th minute, and the winner from Marc Wharfe ten minutes from time to maintain second spot on the U15 standings with 22 points.

San Juan Jabloteh (27 points) maintained their five-point lead at the top of the U15 standings with a 2-0 win over Club Sando thanks to a Micai Peters double, separated by the half.

Third-place Police FC (20 points) were slowed by North East Stars, who held the Blues to a 1-1 draw. W Connection (19 points) meanwhile, hurdled Point Fortin Civic (17 points) for third.

Adica Ash’s late item earned Connection a narrow 1-0 win over Central at the D’Abadie Recreation Ground in Arima, while Civic were held to a 2-2 draw by Morvant Caledonia United at Maracas Recreation Ground in St. Joseph.

Morvant Caledonia, who lost 3-1 in the Under-13 division against the visiting Civic, later handed over all three points by default in the Under-17 division.

Defence Force U13s were the biggest winners of last Saturday, ending a four-game losing streak with a 7-2 win over Rangers.

Joshua Mason scored a beaver-trick, finding the back of the visitors’ net in the 13th, 18th, 30th and 66th minutes, for the Defence Force U13s, who also had a double from Terrell Gibson and an item from Christopher Brooks.

Defence Force moved up two spots into fifth with 13 points on the U13 standings, but are still a long way from leaders Police FC (30 points), who, perfect at the top with maximum points after ten games, got their latest victory by edging North East Stars 2-1.

Rangers, though, remain anchored at the bottom and without a point as Morvant Caledonia.

Rangers, however, stormed back in the U17 division to defeat Defence Force 4-0 and hurdle North East Stars (18 points) by goal-difference for third spot, one point behind W Connection but five points adrift of leaders Jabloteh, who were held to a 2-2 draw by Club Sando.

Naphtali Carrington opened the scoring for Rangers U17s after just three minutes, but it was not until in the last 17 minutes of the game that the St. Ann’s side ran away with the comfortable result.

Che Benny, the winner of the Flow Ultimate Football Experience 2017, notched his sixth goal of the season ahead of his VIP experience at Manchester United later this week. Nkosi Salandy scored Rangers’ third item on 82 minutes and Kesean St. Rose made it 4-0 in the 90th-minute.

Stars revel in Point, Police U13s held while W Connection and Jabloteh share spoils in Claxton Bay
ttproleague.com.

Police FC Under-13’s ten-game winning stretch came to a halt last Sunday when they were held to a 2-2 draw by visiting Defence Force at the St. James Barracks outside field in Round Two Match Day Two action of the Flow Youth Pro League 2017.

Double-scorer Nathaniel Carrim rescued a point for the little Blues, who remained unbeaten at the summit of the U13 standings with 31 points, but only three points ahead of second-place San Juan Jabloteh who edged W Connection 1-0 courtesy a 65th-minute Nathaniel James strike—his sixteenth goal of the season.

Carrim had given Police a 17th-minute lead which was overturned by Defence Force through a double from Darion Marfan, who netted in the 18th and 38th minutes. But Carrim had the last say pulling Police level in the 61st minute.

Police also had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Defence Force in the Under-15 division. Mathias Hinkson’s 72nd-minute item levelled the game after Defence Force’s Jasiel Edwards had the visitors ahead on 33 minutes.

Defence Force weren’t done there. Their Under-17 side also grabbed a point on the day, only their second of the season and remains bottom of the table, by holding Police to a 2-2 draw.

Ojorie Kanneth had Defence Force ahead in the first minute of play, but his side needed a Shaquem Bleasdell equaliser 20 minutes from time to avoid a tenth defeat of the season after Jabari Boyce (34th minute) had levelled Police and Zion Mc Leod (51st minute) put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot.

Also in the U17 category, W Connection held leaders San Juan Jabloteh to a 2-2 draw on Saturday but had to settle for slipping into third after North East Stars wrapped up their Sunday visit at the Mahaica Oval in Point Fortin with a 4-0 win over hosts Point Fortin Civic.

Jaydon Prowell scored twice for the North East Stars U17s while Keyon Boney and John-Paul Rochford had a goal each to complete the trifecta for North East Stars who earlier defeated Civic 3-0 and 1-0 in the U13 and U15 divisions.

Elsewhere, Kesean St. Rose scored on the hour mark to give St. Ann’s Rangers a narrow 1-0 win over Club Sando in the U17 division at St. Augustine Secondary School.

Rangers had also defeated Club Sando 4-0 in the U15 division with a hat-trick from Keron Manswell and an opening item from Darius Douglas.

Sando, though, had the first victory of the day, defeating Rangers 2-0 with a double from Darion Marfan.

‘King’ James hit six for Jabloteh U-13s, taking tally to 22 in 12.
ttproleague.com.

Nathaniel James continued his brilliant scoring form this season a week ago, netting six goals in a 7-1 San Juan Jabloteh win over Central FC in the Under-13 division of the Flow 2017 Youth Pro League last Sunday.

Jaheim Faustin opened the scoring in the second minute for Jabloteh before James, who took his tally to 22 goals after twelve games this season, stole the show at the D’Abadie Recreation Ground in Arima with goals in the 9th, 20th, 33rd, 54th, 65th and 70th minutes to give the San Juan side a seventh straight win.

Jabloteh (31 points) maintained their place in second on the U13 standings, three points adrift of leaders Police FC (34 points), who had simultaneously held off Club Sando 2-0 at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium training field with a goal each from Nathaniel Carrim and Isaiah Joseph on either side of the break.

Third-place W Connection (25 points) kept up their chase on the leaders with a 6-0 win over visiting St. Ann’s Rangers at Union Recreation Ground in Claxton Bay, while North East Stars (19 points) and Defence Force (17 points), in fourth and fifth respectively, were also in winners’ row.

Nathaniel James double lifts Jabloteh U13s over Police; San Juan Kings leads all in 2017 Flow YPL
ttproleague.com

San Juan Jabloteh, for the first time this season, are holding the lead in all three divisions in the 2017 Flow Youth Pro League.

Jabloteh, champions of all divisions in the previous two seasons, have held top spots in this season’s Under-17 and Under-15 divisions since March 19 and April 30, respectively. But the defending champions have been trailing Police FC in the Under-13 division since April 9.

That’s until last Sunday though.

The little San Juan Kings, lifted by a double from leading scorer Nathaniel James, registered a 4-1 win over their Police U13 counterparts at San Juan North Secondary school ground in Bourg Mulatresse to hurdle the visitors for top spot on the standings, albeit separated only by a monstrous goal-difference (+60/+32).

James notched his 26th and 27th items of the season by hitting the back of the Police net in the 4th and 18th minutes, respectively, for the Jabloteh U13s.

Jaheim Faustin had made it two-nil on 6 minutes with his tenth goal of the season before Police’s Jaheim Manswell sliced the hosts’ lead in the 10th-minute.

But after James’ second item and Deshawn Brown making it 4-1 two minutes before the break, and a scoreless second half, both teams are now tied on 37 points.

Defence Force, the only other side to take points from Police U13s this season with a 2-2 draw on May 21, were held to a 3-3 draw by visiting North East Stars at Trinity College East on Sunday.

Later on the day Nicholas Smith snatched the winner as Defence Force U15s edged the Stars 2-1 after an own goal by the hosts had levelled a second-half item by Trinidad and Tobago U15 forward Justin Araujo-Wilson.

Stars, however, stormed back in the U17 division thump the cellar-placed Defence Force 6-0.

T&T U17 player Kishawn Hackshaw provided a second-half double for the Stars while national teammate John-Paul Rochford, Jorel Grant, Jonathan Glodon, and Keon Boney, who debuted for the Stars top-flight Pro League team in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Point Fortin Civic, each had a goal.

The victory kept the Stars three points adrift of U17 leaders Jabloteh (33 points), who edged Police 1-0 courtesy a 74th-minute Rivaldo Coryat strike, while W Connection (26 points) hurdled St. Ann’s Rangers for third.

Connection, who started the day with 5-0 win over visiting Civic in the U13 division, ended the day at Union Recreation Ground in similar fashion by defeating the Point Fortin side 5-0 in the U17 category.

Jevaughn Humphrey, who scored four goals a week ago in Connection’s 5-4 win over Police, grabbed a doubled against Civic while team-mates Caleb Gasper, Denilson Benjamin and Tyrike Andrews each had a goal.

Civic, though, didn’t return home empty-handed. A second-half converted penalty by Ezekiel Kezar had earned them a narrow 1-0 win over Connection in the U15 division.

Civic moved up a spot into fourth, but are 13 points away from U15 leaders Jabloteh (36 points).

A double from Micai Peters separated by a strike from team-mate Tyrese Pierre earned Jabloteh a 3-1 win over Police to stretch their lead to nine points.

Play in the Flow YPL continues on Thursday with Point Fortin Civic hosting Central FC in rescheduled U13, U15 and U17 fixtures at Mahaica Oval.

Also on Thursday, St. Ann’s Rangers will host Morvant Caledonia United from 10am at St. Augustine Secondary ground in a rescheduled U13 fixture.

On Saturday all teams will return to action in Round Two Match Day Six at venues across Trinidad. Defence Force will host Central at Trinity College East; North East Stars will welcome Club Sando at Ojoe Road Recreation Ground in Sangre Grande; San Juan Jabloteh travels to Mahaica Oval against Civic; St. Ann’s Rangers will visit neighbours Police FC at St. James Barracks, and Morvant Caledonia United are hosts to W Connection.

Jabloteh U-13s spank Police for lead
By Nigel Simon, Guardian.

Nathaniel James scored a first-half brace to lead San Juan Jabloteh to a convincing 4-1 whipping of previous leaders Police FC in the Under-13 Division of the Flow Youth Pro League last Sunday.

James opened the scoring as early as the fourth minute at the San Juan North Secondary Ground, Bourg Mulatresse, San Juan and two minutes later Jaheim Faustin, the son of former national midfielder Marvin Faustin made it 2-0.

However, Police, which entered the match unbeaten in its previous 13 matches, pulled a goal back in the tenth, only for James to get his second for Jabloteh while Deshawn Brown added another in the 33rd for a 4-1 at the half-time lead which it held until the final whistle in the 70th minute.

With the win, Jabloteh joined Police on 37 points from 14 matches, but with a superior goal-difference of plus 60 to the letters’ plus-32 while third placed W Connection has 28 points after its 5-0 blow out of Pt Fortin Civic at Union Recreation Grounds.

It would be a brave and erroneous decision to send Police FC to Mexico for the U-13 tournament after the result of the head to head battle between the teams.

Also note:

Quote
With the win, Jabloteh joined Police on 37 points from 14 matches, but with a superior goal-difference of plus 60 to the letters’ (sic) plus-32 while third placed W Connection has 28 points after its 5-0 blow out of Pt Fortin Civic at Union Recreation Grounds.

It was a great weekend for the Jabloteh youth teams as their Under-15 and Under-17 also won their respective matches to stay top of their respective divisions.

Let's see how this plays out. Less than 8 weeks to go before that tourney kicks off.

Nathaniel James adds beaver in latest Jabloteh U13s exploit; Police slam Rangers U13s 10-0 to keep chase.
ttproleague.com.

Nathaniel James scored his first beaver-trick of the Flow Youth Pro League 2017 season last Saturday to lead San Juan Jabloteh Under-13s to a 5-1 away win at Point Fortin Civic while putting his tally to an incredible 31 goals this term.

However it wasn’t James’ best scoring feat in a game this season, having scored a six goals in a 7-1 win over Central FC on May 28 and five against Morvant Caledonia United in a 12-0 win on April 23.

But James’ latest exploit made sure the Under-13 leaders Jabloteh (40 points), with their tenth straight win, remain ahead of Police FC, albeit only goal difference (+64/+42).

Police, ambitious of returning to the top of the standings, had slammed cellar-placed St. Ann’s Rangers 10-0 at the St. James Barracks outside field to keep on the heels of Jabloteh.

Nathaniel Carrim finished with a hat-trick for the little Blues while Jaheim Marshall, Tyreke Harding and Josiah Wilson each scored a double and Isaiah Thomas had one to his name.

On the opposite end of the country, leading scorer Nathaniel James, who also have three hat-tricks this season, was celebrating his 28th, 29th, 30th, 31st goals of the 2017 FYPL with strikes in the 15th, 17th, 31st and 57th minutes against Civic at Mahaica Oval.

Kyle Dwarika also got on the score sheet for Jabloteh before Kanye Francis netted a consolation item for Civic near the end.

W Connection, nine points behind in third, kept their chase on the leaders with a 6-1 win over Morvant Caledonia at San Juan North Secondary school ground with Molik Khan, Dereem Hamilton, Dantaye Gilbert, Jordel Francois, Chaz Forde and Jkwon Bailey all on the score sheet.

Connection also defeated Morvant Caledonia 4-1 and 5-1 in the Under-15 and Under-17 divisions for a clean sweep which included a hat-trick from in-form U17 attacker Jevaughn Humphrey.

Jabloteh, though, continues to also lead both U15 and U17 divisions although failing to register a perfect day at Mahaica Oval.

Tyrese Riley, for his first Jabloteh goal this season, levelled the visitors for a 1-1 finish in the U15 division after Ezekeil Kezar had put Civic in front in the second half.

But goals by Nickell Orr, Lukman Brooks and Kidane Lewis completed Jabloteh’s visit with victory in the U17s.

Elsewhere Defence Force and Central played to a 1-1 draw in the U15 division before the Couva Sharks ended the day with a 5-2 win over the Army in a bottom-of-the-table U17 clash.

Play in the U15s and U17s between North East Stars and Club Sando, and Police FC and St. Ann’s Rangers were postponed due to heavy afternoon rainfall at the D’Abadie Recreation Ground and St. James Barracks outside field.

FYPL action resumes on Sunday in north, central and south Trinidad.

Jabloteh wins U15 crown while U13 and U17 teams run riot on Morv't Caledonia 17-0 and 11-0 respectively.
ttproleague.com.

San Juan Jabloteh are the champions of the 2017 Flow Youth Pro League Under-15 division, completing a three-peat in the middle division with two games to spare.

Tyrese Pierre, with only his second goal of the season, earned the eventual champions, Jabloteh, a 1-0 win over tail-enders Morvant Caledonia United last Sunday at the San Juan North Secondary School ground.

Jabloteh, champions of all divisions in the previous two seasons, have amounted an unassailable 40 points in the U15 division, leaving Point Fortin Civic (30 points), Police FC (30 points and a game in hand) and W Connection (29 points) in a tight race for second.

Jabloteh’s Under-13 and Under-17 sides are also hoping to complete the three-peat this season, and maintained their places at the top of the respective standings with impressive score-lines against their neighbours.

Jabloteh U13s, led by a handful from goal-machine Nathaniel James, trashed Morvant Caledonia 17-0—the biggest win of the season—in the first game of the day at the Bourg Malatrese venue.

James, who scored his first beaver-trick a week ago, went one better by scoring five times—his new personal best of a game in the FYPL—to put his tally at 36 goals this season, while teammates Jaheim Faustin and Trevlon Weekes scored a hat-trick and double respectively.

Lindell Sween, Kanye Baker, Kyle Dwarika, Nkosi Ambrose, Hakim Lord, Israel Joseph chipped in with a goal each for Jabloteh, and an own goal on the hour mark also contributed to the heavy Morvant Caledonia U13s defeat.

Jabloteh (43 points) though, are only ahead of Police FC on the U13 standings by a superior goal-difference and must face North East Stars and Defence Force in remaining matches this season.

Police, meanwhile, kept level on points in the two-team U-13 title chase with a 3-1 win over Central FC and are against Point Fortin Civic and Morvant Caledonia in their remaining matches.

Jaheim Marshall scored a first-half double at the D'Abadie Recreation Ground for the little Blues and Nathaniel Carrim made it three nil in the second half before Kyle Ramdoo grabbed a consolation item for the Couva Sharks who went on to lose 2-1 in the U15s, but held Police to a 2-2 draw in the U17s.

Jabloteh U17s however, moved closer to the divisions crown with an 11-0 mauling of Morvant Caledonia, who conceded four from the penalty spot.

Eight points clear at the top of the U17 standings with two games left, Jabloteh (39 points) got goals Nickel Orr, who ended with a hat-trick, a double from Jodel Brown, and a goal each from Lukman Brooks, Tyrese Bailey, Emmanuel John, Kidane Lewis, Roshawn Laidow and Trevin Thomas.

Second-placed North East Stars (31 points and a game in hand) are the only team with a mathematical chance at upsetting Jabloteh to the U17 crown, but dropped vital points in a 2-2 draw against third-placed W Connection (30 points).

Jabloteh U17s are FYPL 2017 champions, while U13s maintain course for record-breaking third consecutive clean sweep
ttproleague.com.

Record-smashing San Juan Jabloteh are one Under-13-win away from completing a historic "triple triple" in the (Flow) Youth Pro League.

Jabloteh, who became the first club to successfully defend all divisions in the Youth Pro League last season, completed the three-peat in the mid-division by becoming FYPL 2017 Under-15 champions a week ago, and yesterday celebrated a parallel feat in the Under-17 division after earning a valuable point in a 2-2 draw against North East Stars on the penultimate day.

First-half goals by Jodel Brown -- from the penalty spot -- and Sownde Preito in the 5th and 23rd minutes respectively, at George Boyce Recreation Ground in Arima, eventually put coach Gilbert Bateau’s side’s tally at an unassailable 40 points ahead of their final game against Defence Force next Sunday at San Juan North Secondary ground.

North East Stars were level courtesy a Jonathan Glodon strike in the 12th minute, then for a second time through Trinidad and Tobago U17 attacker, Keshawn Hackshaw, who converted from the penalty spot eight minutes from time.

However the point earned wasn't enough to keep alive the Stars’ mathematical chance at upstaging the eventual U17 champions, San Juan Jabloteh—a side that has contributed heavily to the current T&T national U17 player pool.

Instead, North East Stars (32 points), with a game in hand and left in a battle for second, slipped a spot into third, hurdled by W Connection (33 points), who had defeated Defence Force 2-0 at Trinity College East ground in Trincity.

Bateau, who serves as Jabloteh’s head coach of the club’s youth system, but more specifically the U17 team, said accomplishments of recent years are evidence of the work done by him and other coaches at the club.

He said, however, “It’s still a work in progress. It’s no secret what we are helping these kids to understand what it takes to play at a higher level abroad while trying to complement what the national setup is doing under (Trinidad and Tobago senior team head coach) Dennis Lawrence.”

Bateau, whose focus is on improving the speed of play in a holistic approach, also serves the club’s professional team as assistant coach to technical director/head coach Keith Jeffrey and had served various national men’s and women’s teams as physical trainer.

Bateau, the father of professional footballers Sheldon and Sean Bateau, said he is driven daily by his promise to try and improve the life of youths through sport.

“We don’t take away joy of playing the football at Jabloteh, to be able to play to the best of your ability,” he explained. “We don’t focus on winning first, and maybe we did it right, playing with so much intensity that it becomes an almost given that the wins will happen.”

Jabloteh had kicked off yesterday’s play with an important 5-0 win over North East Stars in the Under-13 division—a result that kept the San Juan Kings atop the division’s standings, but only ahead of Police FC on a superior goal-difference, ahead of their final game next Sunday against Defence Force and Morvant Caledonia United respectively.

Jabloteh’s goal-machine, Nathaniel James, bagged a hat-trick for the U13s, before putting his tally this term to a record-smashing 40 goals with a goal for the U15 champions in a 3-1 win over North East Stars, while U13 teammate Jaheim Faustin had a double.

Nathaniel Carrim, simultaneously, scored his 18th goal of the season in a 7-0 Police U13 win over hosts Point Fortin Civic at Mahaica Oval.

Jaheim Marshall scored a hat-trick and Josiah Wilson a double, while Jarron Pascall was also on the scoresheet in the first half as little Blues made light work of Civic to keep their alive their shot at the U13 title till the final day.

W Connection, who already secured the third-place finish in the U13s, were held to a 2-2 draw by Defence Force before defeating the hosts 4-2 and 2-0 in the U15 and U17 divisions respectively.

Connection moved two spots up the U15 standings into second, and like on the U17 ladder, the Savonetta Boys are left in a battle for runners-up behind FYPL U15 champions San Juan Jabloteh.

Triple three-peat San Juan Kings: Jabloteh complete Flow YPL 2017 clean sweep with U13, U15, U17 titles
ttproleague.com.

San Juan Jabloteh finished champions of the Flow 2017 Youth Pro League Under-13 division on the final day, yesterday, becoming the first club in the history of the league to win all divisions of the YPL three times in a row.

The history rewriting 'triple triple' champion club won Under-15 division, with two games to spare, on June 25, and a week later (July 2), secured the Under-17 crown on the penultimate day.

And yesterday, the final day of the 2017 campaign, the San Juan Kings U13s, with a 2-0 win over Defence Force, were celebrating as champions too, securing another historic moment for a club that have lifted the bar once more.

Jabloteh U13s, a side on 12 straight wins, needed nothing less than another victory after Police FC, the only side with a shot at upstaging them for the title, went ahead by three points before kick-off with a win by default over Morvant Caledonia United at St. James Barracks.

But with a helping leg, Jabloteh went ahead in just the second minute against Defence Force though an own goal by defender Brendon Ramjattan, who inadvertently put an attempted clearance into his own net at the San Juan North Secondary School ground.

Half hour later, Tyrell Inniss, with his first goal of the season, cushioned the eventual champions 2-0—a result they took to the final whistle. Jabloteh (49 points) finishing ahead of Police on a superior goal difference (+88/+54).

Police, creditably, had given a superb run this season, but when the dust settled yesterday, only one champion team stood tallest. Ironically, Jabloteh, led by a double from this season’s record-smashing scorer Nathaniel James (40 goals in all competitions), had defeated Police 4-1 on June 11, overtaking the Blues for top spot and held on till the end.

Yesterday, Jabloteh U15 and U17 champion sides also ended the season with wins, defeating Defence Force 2-0 and by default respectively.

San Juan Jabloteh technical director and senior team head coach Keith Jeffrey praised the work of Dave Weeks (Under-13), Andre Morales and Junior Neptune (Under-15), and Gilbert Bateau (Under-17) and for believing in the club’s philosophy.

“For a long time people will continue being envious of what we have achieved as a club,” Jeffrey said of Jabloteh, who won all divisions in 2015, then raised the bar by successfully defending all age groups in 2016, now doing so again 2017.

"As the technical director I have set certain standards that we are to work by in keeping with the Jabloteh philosophy," continued Jeffrey. "And its also great to see that even the new coaches (Andre Morales and Junior Neptune) have bought into the Jabloteh way, and together with the players we are celebrating an incredible achievement."

All winning teams of 2017, will be honoured at Thursday’s FYPL awards ceremony which would also reveal individual top performers. But for the near two hundred plus youngsters that make up the San Juan Jabloteh youth programme, nothing can beat the new ‘triple triple’ record they have achieved.

Predictably, history-rewriting San Juan Jabloteh, Nathaniel James, Justin Araujo-Wilson, Jevaughn Humphrey top Flow Youth Pro League 2017 awards.
ttproleague.com.

San Juan Jabloteh scooped twelve of the twenty-five top gongs, including the Club of the Year honour, when the Flow Youth Pro League hosted its 2017 awards at the VIP Lounge of the Hasely Crawford Stadium on Thursday.

The San Juan Kings rewrote the history books, yet again, in the just concluded FYPL #wherestarsareborn by becoming champions of all three (Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17) divisions for a third consecutive time #tripletriplechampions and it didn’t come a surprise the club topped the awards ceremony.

Nathaniel James, Jabloteh’s U13 star striker, led with the division’s MVP, Most Outstanding Forward and Most Goals awards. Jabloteh’s Tyrell Wiley and Emmanuel John received the awards for Most Outstanding U15 Midfielder and Most Outstanding U17 Goalkeeper respectively.

Nathaniel James’ 40 goals in all divisions (39 for the U13s and 1 for the U15s) in 2017 also stands a new YPL record, smashing the amounts achieved previously by players such as current Honduras-based forward Jerrel Britto a decade ago, and 2016 U13 top-scorer, Justin Araujo-Wilson.

Araujo-Wilson, of SKHY FC—the adopted youth club of Defence Force, was also a standout among those honoured on Thursday. The now, almost-6-foot, Under-15 forward received the division’s MVP, Most Outstanding Forward and Most Goals (14) awards while W Connection’s Jevaughn Humphrey got the awards for Most Outstanding Forward and Most Goals in the Under-17s.

Che Benny, who is currently away on trial at Sweden’s Allmänna Idrottsklubben (AIK), was named the U17 MVP.

“It’s a great feeling to motivate you to work harder each year and become the best that you can be, so that you can try to do better the next season and the season after that,” said Araujo-Wilson on receiving another top-scorer award.

“I’m working on becoming a professional player,” continued the Fatima College and Trinidad and Tobago Under-15 footballer. “…that’s my dream, and I won’t stop until it happens. It’s just to keep on working and keep on doing my thing.”

Winning another Most Goals award, however, came a shock to the talented forward, who missed more than half his team’s outings due to training and competition with the national U15 team.

“…to put the ball in the back of the net is (always) a good feeling in your heart and your soul, to know that you have contributed to the team,” Araujo-Wilson added. “This season I was actually surprised. I came out with 14 goals and (…) a good goal to game ratio to be proud of. I am truly blessed to get these awards.”

Araujo-Wilson also praised the achievement of new record scorer of a season, Nathan James, saying, “Nathaniel is an amazing young player, scoring 40 goals this season, and I can tell he has a great future in the Pro League and international football also.”

The pint-sized Nathaniel had a hard time balancing three awards during photocalls, perhaps far a contrast in the ease he had in banging in the goals all season. His warm smile, humility, and of course his ability on the pitch, however, could only mean more proud moments for parents Dahlia Pierre-James and Mark James.

An aspiring professional international footballer, Nathaniel already has a blueprint of his immediate, midterm and long-term goals. “Make the national U15 team then upwards. Attain eight CSEC passes. Play professionally abroad,” said the La Horquetta-born Queen’s Royal College student.

“I enjoyed (the) season,” he said of his successful debut season in the FYPL. “I enjoyed having the experience of the Pro League team; training three days a week and game on a Sunday. I enjoyed the experience of playing amongst many talented players.

“(Now) I feel proud of myself although I didn’t expect I would score many goals.”

Jabloteh secured the 2017 U15 crown, with two games to spare, on June 25, and a week later (July 2), secured the U17 title on the penultimate day. And on the final day, last Sunday, held off a sterling challenge by Police FC to record a staggering triple three-peat.

Pro League CEO Dexter Skeene applauded Jabloteh on “possibly (an) unassailable achievement”. The former Trinidad and Tobago footballer and coach told the players present, “…even though some of you don’t receive awards, you are all winners just by participating and making a decision to improve yourself.”

“I knew this FYPL was going to be a thrilling season,” said Cindy-Ann Gatt, director of marketing at Flow. “We have some of our best, most talented young players in a competition that is our version of the international FA Cup – spirited, determined young players, giving their all in every match. It goes to show that the Trinidad and Tobago football legacy is far from over.”

Gatt, who said her company wants to play its part in seeing T&T qualify for other FIFA World Cups, reminded players that there are a lot of lessons to be learnt on the field that would only make them better, stronger footballers.

She added, “When Flow signed up to be become a partner with the Youth Pro League we didn't anticipate just how rewarding this would be. As a partner, the YPL has elevated Flow not just from the perspective of brand visibility, but the partnership has reinforced our passion for sport and youth and the development of both areas. We are also extremely satisfied to be in a partnership which promotes the development of young men in sport; particularly when we are hearing disturbing stories about young men in our country. We hope we have been able to help you go in the right direction of self-determination and self-respect.”

Dave Weeks, Andre Morales and Gilbert Bateau, all of San Juan Jabloteh, received the FYPL Coach of the Year awards for U13, U15 and U17 respectively.

Weekes, who has served Jabloteh for almost two decades, and Bateau were also recognized for their contribution to football youth football along with club chairman Jerry Hospedales and team administrator Phillip Fraser. W Connection longstanding U13 coach and former national footballer, Leonson Lewis, was also recognised for his contribution to youth football while team administrator Debbie-Ann Harewood received the FYPL Administrator of the Year award.
