Miami-based sports apparel brand BOL unveils “steel tribe” kit designs for Trinidad and Tobago’s National Football Team

The new jerseys will tell the team’s fight-back story through ancient culture-inspired artwork

MIAMI (Friday, June 4, 2021) – BOL unveiled fresh kit designs for Trinidad and Tobago today as a part of the partnership between the Miami-based sports brand and the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) announced earlier this year.

The apparel brand released new home and away jerseys featuring unique steelpan and tribal artwork that represents the beauty, strength and resilience that is the team’s heritage.

Stripes of the red home jersey combine elements of football with distinctive patterns of Trinbagonian ceramics and silhouettes of the steelpan, the national instrument. The native figure portrayed on the away jersey, also wearing a steelpan earring, represents how the team unites the country and its people abroad as a tribe.

“Our brand finds inspiration to create its products from the stories and culture of the teams that we partner with,” said Tiago Pinto, co-founder of BOL. “It is an honor to be able to translate the vibrant culture and compelling story of the National Team into a jersey that represents the Trinbagonian people.”

BOL chose to introduce the new kits this week with the hope of inspiring the Trinidad and Tobago Men’s National Team ahead of crucial upcoming matches for the World Cup Qualifiers. The brand is on a mission to share the emotional journeys of men’s, women’s, and youth teams and is the first sports brand to give equal compensation for performance achievements.

Overcoming hardships along the way with the heartbreaking loss against Haiti in the 1974 World Cup and against the United States in 1989, Trinidad and Tobago’s MNT made it to the highest stage of football by qualifying for the World Cup in 2006.

“This is not just another red jersey,” said Robert Hadad, Chairman of the TTFA Normalisation Committee. “BOL is the brand that has captured the need for our team to fight back.”

Trinidad and Tobago’s MNT will wear the new kits for the World Cup Qualifiers against the Bahamas on Saturday, June 5th and again against Saint Kitts and Nevis on Tuesday, June 8th.

Game day, training, and goalkeeper jerseys will be available for purchase on BOL’s official site. For more information, visit bolfootball.com or follow @bolfootball on Twitter and @bol.football on Instagram.

Trinidad and Tobago culture in new BOL football kits
By Jelani Beckles (T&T Newsday)

FRESH kits for the national men’s football team were unveiled on Friday as a part of the partnership between the Miami-based sports brand BOL and the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA), which was announced earlier this year.

A media release by the TTFA on Friday said, “The apparel brand released new home and away jerseys featuring unique steel pan and tribal artwork that represents the beauty, strength and resilience that is the team’s heritage.

“Stripes of the red home jersey combine elements of football with distinctive patterns of Trinbagonian ceramics and silhouettes of the steel pan – the national instrument. The native figure portrayed on the away jersey, also wearing a steel pan earring, represents how the team unites the country and its people abroad, as a tribe.”

Tiago Pinto, co-founder of BOL, said the brand’s aim is to make the T&T uniforms one of a kind.

“Our brand finds inspiration to create its products from the stories and culture of the teams that we partner with,” Pinto said.

“It is an honour to be able to translate the vibrant culture and compelling story of the national team into a jersey that represents the Trinbagonian people.”

BOL chose to introduce the new kits this week with the hope of inspiring the men’s national team ahead of crucial upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.

T&T will play Bahamas on Saturday and St Kitts and Nevis on Tuesday.

The brand said it is on a mission to share the emotional journeys of men’s, women’s and youth teams.

“This is not just another red jersey,” said Robert Hadad, chairman of the FIFA-appointed normalisation committee. “BOL is the brand that has captured the need for our team to fight back.”

T&T will debut the new kits against Bahamas and St Kitts and Nevis.

Game day jerseys, training kits and goalkeeper jerseys will be available for purchase on BOL’s official site. For more information, visit bolfootball.com or follow @bolfootball on Twitter and @bol.football on Instagram.

At least one good thing from the NC - kits look good. Dunno if they're good to wear, but look good. Now we can fail against tiny nations in style, which is objectively better than failing in an off-the-rail training kit.

BOL Football unveils “Steel tribe” kit designed exclusively for the Trinidad and Tobago Women’s National Team.
TTFA Media.

BOL unveiled fresh kit designs for the Trinidad and Tobago Women’s National team today as a part of their partnership with the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA).

For BOL, a team is a communion of players, fans, a city, a country and beyond. It’s a common identity that defines the existence of men and women alike. Under their “ONE Football” philosophy, the Miami-based apparel brand released the new home and away women’s jerseys featuring the unique steelpan and tribal artwork that represents the beauty, strength and resilience that is the team’s heritage.

BOL designs performance products for each individual player, taking into consideration their best fit requirements to play the game at their best. Furthermore, the brand understands that identity and expression are just as important, so the designs are also done in a way for women to express who they are on pitch.

The traditional stripes of the red home jersey combine elements of football with distinctive patterns of Trinbagonian ceramics found in the National Museum and Art Gallery in Port of Spain, and silhouettes of the steelpan, the national instrument. The female celebratory figure portrayed on the new away jersey represents the twin island’s world renowned carnival, and how the team unites the country and its people abroad as a tribe: The Steel Tribe.

“For BOL, there is only ONE football, regardless of gender. Any game requires 90 minutes of commitment, team effort and offers tremendous satisfaction when you know you have left it all on the pitch. We thrive on creating equal performance products and incentives for all the players of the teams we partner with, both men and women,” said Tiago Pinto, co-founder of BOL. “As a brand, we are inspired to tell their stories through the designs of the jerseys they will wear to play their best, and represent their people.”

BOL is introducing the new kits this week as the team trains for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers. All jerseys will be available for purchase on BOL’s official site and in selected stores in Trinidad and Tobago including The Fan Club at Trincity Mall and other locations to be announced.

TTFA Media.

Capelli Sport is excited to announce a new partnership with the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA). This deal will see Capelli Sport becoming the official and exclusive supplier of sports apparel and equipment for all categories of the TTFA, including the national teams as they compete in Concacaf and FIFA events such as Nations League, Gold Cup, and World Cup qualifiers. The 2-year deal is set to begin effective immediately as the TTFA will compete in the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup in their new Capelli Sport gear.

Capelli Sport and the TTFA will work together to launch a custom kit design in the coming months.

From youth programs to international competition, the TTFA is committed to promoting fair play and ensuring a bright future for all of the nation’s homegrown talent.

Normalization Committee Chairman of TTFA, Robert Hadad said:

“We are really pleased to be able to partner with Capelli Sport. They have stepped forward, having stood out from the proposals we received, and provided the TTFA with a great opportunity as we continue to rebuild the Association. Continuing to capture the essence of Trinidad and Tobago in what we wear is key, and we believe that a partnership with Capelli Sport will allow us to showcase these aspects and the best that Trinidad and Tobago has to offer.”

President and CEO of Capelli Sport, George Altirs said:
