How many play for T&T before they play for Jabloteh? Quite a few on my count!

Name 8 out of that entire list.. because if you name 8, de list still very large. And even if they didn't come out of the Jabloteh youth system, they were either given a foreign contract or called for national duty because they play for a top T&T club.

Look at the current under 17 team for example and see how many Jabloteh players on it. I could count 12...

Terry Fenwick is a boss... and the TTFF dont like him because he wants them to be more professional.

Jabloteh slow on releasing Antiguan players

Jabloteh slow on releasing Antiguan players
By Neto Baptiste (Antigua Sun)

Playing for Canada’s Montreal Impact may take a bit longer than expected for Antiguan strikers Peter “Big Pete” Byers and Gayson “Bubbler” Gregory, as their former Trinidad club, Jabloteh, has seemingly put the brakes to the issuing of the player’s international transfers.

This is according to sources close to the players who have indicated that up to late Saturday evening, the players' agent and lawyer, Joyce Kentish, had not received word from Jabloteh regarding the required transfers.

In an e-mail sent to the Trinidad & Tobago Football Federation (TTFF), Kentish outlined a number of her concerns with the delay of the transfer and questioned the TTFF on whether or not Jabloteh was in breach of some rules and regulations in not obtaining work permits for the players while they were playing in the TT Pro League.

“It is disappointing to know that you did not return a call as promised to indicate whether or not you were able to speak with Mr. Groden after I had highlighted what I considered to be salient issues, for the consideration of the TTFF when making its decision whether to issue the International Transfer Certificate requested by the Canadian Football Federation,” the email read.

“It is regrettable yet evident that no consideration was given to the fact that Jabloteh was in breach of the laws of T&T in not obtaining a work permit for the players and have their passports stamped accordingly – a certain indication that Jabloteh had breached the rules and regulations of the TTFF,” Kentish added.

“It is regrettable that Jabloteh could so flagrantly breach the league rules for qualifying overseas players to play in your ProLeague and still have the power to arrest the future of Peter Byers and Gayson Gregory on a claim that there is an appeal process afoot. It is more so regrettable that Jabloteh could put Peter and Gayson on the street without accommodation; bend the TTFF Rules and with impunity, PLAY FOUL and be crowned the champion of the TT ProLeague. Something is wrong with this picture,” the players’ agent went on to add.

“Given the evaporating international transfer windows, I am forced in the interest of the Peter and Gayson to pose questions to CONCACAF and FIFA for a greater clarification of the rights of these Players,” the email ended.

Last week, the players both signed one year deals with the Montreal Impact Football Club in Canada. The signing, which comes just weeks after the players were forced to return to Antigua following a rent dispute with their former Trinidad Club, Jabloteh FC, was orchestrated by Kentish, and will last until the end of the USL First Division season with the players being offered an optional resigning for 2009. The optional resigning would however have to be completed by the end of October.

NOTE: The duo have since received international clearance.
The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.

Jabloteh march on.
Stars go fourth in T&T Pro League.
By: Lasana Liburd (Express).

Bmobile Joe Public, who were in CONCACAF Champions' League action last night against Honduran club CD Olimpia, are the T&T Pro League's international representatives at present.

But defending champions, CLICO San Juan Jabloteh, remain the top dogs on the domestic front and underlined their title credentials with a 3-1 win over third-placed Neal and Massy Caledonia AIA on Tuesday evening.

Jabloteh stretched their advantage over Caledonia to 12 points, while second placed W. Connection, who played a game less, trail the leaders by seven points. Fourth-placed Economy North East Stars were moving in the right direction, too, with a 4-1 win over cellar-placed Ma Pau FC.

Tricky striker Sean Cooper became the third player to score a hat-trick in the 2008 domestic competition, while defender John Stewart chipped in as well for the Stars, who are already on their third coach this season, with Miguel Hackett now in the hot seat.

Josimar Belgrave, who captains fifth-placed St Ann's Rangers, scored four times in a league match against Tobago in May, while Joe Public striker Gregory Richardson notched a Champions League treble against New England Revolution and repeated the trick in their FCB Cup quarterfinal win over United Petrotrin.

Petrotrin, who occupy sixth place, are also under new management and got the first point of the Leon Carpette era with a goalless draw against eighth-placed Defence Force at the Palo Seco Recreation Ground on Tuesday evening.

There might be shuffling for positions in the mid and lower regions of the Pro League table but the leaders have remained constant since June 24.

Caledonia would have hoped to prompt a stutter on Tuesday, although they started without 2006 World Cup midfielder Densill Theobald, Guyanese international defender Howard Lowe and holding midfielder Stephen David.

The "Eastern Stallions" did have inspirational St Lucian defender Sheldon Emmanuel, though, who made his debut for Caledonia this season after an ill-fated attempt to join Jabloteh.

Jabloteh have the services of 2007 Pro League MVP and ex-Caledonia star Marvin Oliver, who they signed in the pre-season, and Caledonia supporters might have snickered as, 12 minutes into the encounter, an Oliver error helped his former employers go ahead.

The beanpole playmaker was caught in possession by Caledonia 's teenaged midfielder Akim Armstrong and quickly brought down the player, 25 yards from the Jabloteh goal.

Jabloteh goalkeeper Cleon John could only fend the resulting free kick from Charles Pollard into the path of his Caledonia teammate Kendall Velox, who gleefully converted his tenth league goal this season-the fourth highest aggregate in the competition.

Oliver needed just five minutes to respond, though. Trent Noel miscued his volley from a Lester Peltier cross but, when Noel Williams played the loose ball into Oliver's path, the Rastafarian attacked with a ferocious drive from 22 yards for the equaliser.

And, ten minutes before the interval, Jabloteh went ahead through mid-season signing Jerol Forbes. It was Forbes' fourth league goal in three matches since his move from Petrotrin as the San Juan club make light of Antiguan hitman Peter Byers' departure to Montreal Impact.

Peltier again produced an incisive early cross from the right flank and, this time, Oliver dummied the ball for Forbes, who held off a defender to fire home.

Caledonia still threatened and striker Nigel Codrington was thwarted by a last-ditch tackle from Jabloteh and Trinidad and Tobago full back Cyd Gray, while a Walter Moore item was disallowed for offside before the break.

But the Stallions did not get as close in the second half as Jabloteh defended resolutely and always looked capable of an insurance goal on the counter.

It eventually came, nine minutes from time, courtesy another mid-season capture. When Jabloteh coach Terry Fenwick heads into the transfer market, he probably first checks the whereabouts of striker Cornell Glen.

The Englishman signed the Trinidad and Tobago international for the third time this week and was repaid within seconds of his introduction.

Glen, whose traditional number 13 jersey now belongs to Jason Marcano, sported the number 23 shirt as he replaced Peltier in the 79th minute and, two minutes later, steered a left side Noel cross past Caledonia goalkeeper Glenroy Samuel with his first touch. There was no catching Jabloteh then. It has been that sort of season for them thus far.

Tuesday's T&T Pro League Results:

San Juan Jabloteh 3 (Marvin Oliver 18th, Jerol Forbes 36th, Cornell Glen 81st) v Caledonia 1 (Kendall Velox 13th)

United Petrotrin 0 v Defence Force 0

NE Stars 4 (Sean Cooper 6th, 60th, 87th, John Stewart 44th) v Ma Pau 1 (Lorne Joseph 63rd pen)

Rangers stun Jabloteh.

Rangers stun Jabloteh.
By: Lasana Liburd (Express).

St Ann's Rangers spectacularly clicked back into gear on Tuesday night with a 3-0 triumph over Pro League leaders and defending champions, Clico San Juan Jabloteh, at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar.

The win pushed Rangers to sixth place and boosted their chances of a Lucozade Big Six spot although United Petrotrin are just one point behind and Defence Force, who are five points adrift, still have a shot with two regular season games left.

Today's round of Pro League matches are crucial, particularly in Malabar where Rangers play Neal & Massy Caledonia AIA from 5 pm while Petrotrin tackle Economy North East Stars at 7 pm.

A Rangers victory coupled with a draw or defeat from Petrotrin would guarantee the former team's participation in the post-season competition. While a loss for Bmobile Joe Public, Caledonia or North East Stars would ensure closing day drama on the weekend. The frontrunners, Jabloteh and W. Connection, are in their own race and have daylight space from the pack.

Jabloteh have led the Pro League since June 24 but Tuesday's loss saw Connection pull within three points and the southern outfit have a game in hand against Public. Jabloteh coach Terry Fenwick was almost certainly blindsided in Malabar.

Rangers lost their four last outings before Tuesday while they conceded 12 goals in their last two matches against W. Connection and Joe Public respectively. Seventeen weeks had passed before coach Anthony Streete's men had kept a clean sheet-they managed a 2-0 shut-out against Tobago United on the same ground in July.

But they were back to their best on Tuesday with a exciting display of counter-attacking football.

Jabloteh's central defender Karlon Murray was on national duty with the "Soca Warriors" for the past week although he did not feature in the Digicel Caribbean Cup qualifying series. Still, Fenwick opted to leave the defender on the bench and gave youngster Anton Hutchinson a rare start at right back while experienced full back Cyd Gray assumed Murray's central defensive role.

In midfield, Jabloteh captain Trent Noel was paired with the offensive minded pair of Marvin Oliver and Ataullah Guerra rather than the more conservative Devon Jamerson or physical Elijah Manners.

It is difficult to gauge how much Jabloteh's performance was affected by the tactical tweaking. What we do know is that Rangers did not mind one bit.

Just eight minutes into the contest, Rangers attacker Christon Thomas gained space down Jabloteh's right flank and crossed for Grenadian international Shane Rennie to convert and the St Ann's unit never looked back.

Guerra was sleepwalking while Oliver and wingers Jason Marcano and Lester Peltier never got close enough to support lone striker Jerol Forbes. And, on every occasion that Jabloteh conceded possession, Rangers headed straight to goal.

Rangers goalkeeper Shane Mattis executed a smart save at Forbes' feet in the first half but, that apart, the action was usually limited to the Jabloteh area. Rennie and Corneal Thomas both hit the upright while goals from Shem McFarlane and a clever Christon finish put Rangers three goals clear with 34 minutes to spare.

It was a welcomed reprieve for Connection who could only draw 1-1 against Petrotrin on Tuesday. Solitary points mean little for either Rangers or Petrotrin from here on. It should make for intriguing viewing at the Larry Gomes Stadium.
The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

Lasana spell de man mame (Karlon Murray) and Shaun Fuentes does spell it (Carlon Murray). Why we could never get names right. ? I always though it was (Karlon Murray) myself. Oh well.

I see Fenwick bench him anyway.

Jabloteh eyes Pro League, ‘Big Six’ titles today

Jabloteh eyes Pro League, ‘Big Six’ titles today
By Nigel Simon (Trinidad Guardian)

Clico San Juan Jabloteh can retain the T&T Pro League title and capture its second Lucozade Sports “Big Six” crown, depending on the outcome of results in today’s penultimate round of competition, from 5 pm.

Jabloteh, the defending league champion, leads both the regular season and “Big Six” competition with 70 points from 30 matches, and nine points from three matches respectively.

Second place W Connection, the only team with a chance to dethrone Jabloteh as league champions, is two points adrift in both competitions with only two matches left to play.

Today, the “San Juan Kings,” coming off a hard-fought 2-1 win over bmobile Joe Public on Tuesday night at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, meets North East Stars at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar.

At the same time, W Connection, also 2-1 winners on Tuesday over United Petrotrin, faces stumbling Joe Public at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya.

In the other match, Petrotrin host Neal & Massy Caledonia AIA at Palo Seco Recreation Ground.

If Jabloteh wins its match against Stars, and W Connection fails to pick up a win, then the Terry Fenwick-coached San Juan club will be crowned both the League and “Big Six” winners ahead of the top-of-the-table clash on Saturday.

Any other outcome for both clubs, then the Pro League and “Big Six” competitions will be decided on the final day of competition, as the points earned in the “Big Six” competition will be added to the league points to determine the overall league champion.

A separate prize is also at stake for the winner of the “Big Six” tournament.

In Tuesday’s win, Jabloteh got second half goals from Marvin Oliver (57th) and Jerol Forbes (65th) while Kerry Baptiste got a late consolation for Joe Public.

The “Savonetta Boys,” as W Connection are known, kept up their chances alive for both titles thanks to a 78th minute winner from Andre Toussaint at the Palo Seco Recreation Ground.

Clyde Leon had given W Connection a 39th minute lead, but ten minutes into the second half, Lyndon Diaz drew Petrotrin level, before Toussaint struck.

Stars climbed to third on both tables with a pulsating 3-2 win over Caledonia AIA at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya, in Tuesday’s other match.

Caledonia raced into a fourth minute lead when Conrad Smith found the back of the net, but on-loan signing Leslie “Tiger” Fitzpatrick got Stars back on even terms three minutes later.

Stars went ahead for the first time in the match through Anthony Wolfe in the 17th minute while Carlos Gonzales made it 3-1 nine minutes later.

In the second half, Guyanese international, Walter Moore got Caledonia back in contention when he scored in the 71st minute for a 3-2 score, but the Sangre Grande-based Stars managed to hold on.

Jabloteh clinches Pro League, ‘Big Six’ double.

Jabloteh clinches Pro League, ‘Big Six’ double.
By: Nigel Simon (Guardian).

Clico San Juan Jabloteh completed the T&T Pro League and Lucozade Sports “Big Six”double after battling to a 0-0 draw with title hopefuls W Connection at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, yesterday.

Jabloteh, winners of the league title on three previous occasions went into the final match of the season needing only a draw to win both titles as it led bitter rival, W Connection by two points.

The ‘Savonetta Boys” on the other hand, needed a victory to end a run of two straight runners-up spot in the league, in 2006 and 2007.

However in the end, the Terry Fenwick-coached Jabloteh managed to get the required result before a sparse crowd of fewer than 200 spectators on a picturesque.

Both teams had chances to find the back of the net with the easiest falling to W Connection’s Teba Mc Knight in the first half and then Jabloteh’s Jason Marcano in the second period.

However, both players failed to find the target when it seemed the obvious. When he awakes this morning Mc Knight may still be wondering how he missed an open goal after Jabloteh goalkeeper Cleon John parried a shot into his path.

John did well to keep out an initial attempt from W Connection striker Andre Toussaint, but the ball fell right into Mc Knight’s path, however with time and space and from an acute angle he directed his effort over the bar.

Marcano should have also done better with his attempt, but put through on goal in a one-on-one with goalkeeper Marvin Phillip, he fired straight at the W Connection custodian.

With the drawn result, Jabloteh ended it 32 match campaign with 74 points, to win the league by two points.

The ‘San Juan Kings’ also topped the “Big Six” competition with 13 points from five matches, also two more than W Connection.

At the end of the 27 match regular season, both Jabloteh and W Connection were level on 61 points, but the latter had a superior goal-difference.

However, Jabloteh managed to turn things around in “Big Six” reeled off for consecutive wins prior to yesterday’s match while W Connection drew its first match in the “Big Six” with Neal & Massy Caledonia AIA to fall behind in the race.

In the end, those two points proved to be the deciding factor as Jabloteh added to its previous league triumphs from 2002, 2003 and 2007 while it also won the “Big Six” in 2006.

In the other matches, North East Stars whipped United Petrotrin 4-1 led by a double from T&T international Anthony Wolfe at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar to secure third spot in both competitions while Caledonia edged Joe Public 2-1 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo for fourth spot.

Jabloteh will now focus on the Toyota Classic competition which gets tomorrow (Monday) with four round-of-16 double-headers and the T&T Football Federation FA Trophy competition which begins on Wednesday.
Jabloteh retain Pro League title.
By: Ian Prescott (Express).

Yesterday, W Connection and CLICO San Juan Jabloteh played their final match of the 2008 TT Pro League season as if contesting one of their usually competitive knockout finals. And like any knockout, there was just one winner.

For the second year running, CLICO San Juan Jabloteh are the 2008 champions of both the TT Pro League and they have won the Lucozade Big 6 title as well.

Yesterday's decider produced thrilling football, which was spoilt only by a series of inconsistent calls from referee Geoffrey Hospedales. Still the 0-0 stalemate was enough to ensure that the defending league champions Jabloteh kept the two-point advantage with which they went into yesterday's match.

Jabloteh ended the season with 74 points from 32 matches, two ahead of W Connection.

The game produced no goals, but plenty highlights for the couple hundred supporters that gathered at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva. From the onset, both teams went for victory.

W Connection needed full points, and might now reflect on what might have been had striker Teba McKnight found the net in the 25th minute The South team looked sure to score when Houghton Hector's defence-splitting pass loosed Andre Toussaint on the Jabloteh goal. Confronted, Toussaint rounded goalkeeper Cleon John, but could not squeeze the ball in from an angle. Instead, his blocked shot fell kindly for his strike partner McKnight, who disappointingly lifted the ball over Jabloteh's unguarded net.

Yes, it was a the most thrilling of stale-mates. One minute, central defender Elijah Joseph intercepted the ball in his own penalty area, and the next he was ending a long run with a crisp shot at keeper John after taking the ball upfield himself.

Toussaint looked the most dangerous W Connection player, and several times almost sprung his teammates with delicate short passes in the penalty box. But such was the importance of the match, that there was always an outstretched Jabloteh leg to turn the ball away at the last second.

Likewise, Jabloteh had one excellent moment to win the match outright, when in the 71st minute an uncharacteristic error from St Lucian central defender Elijah Joseph gave the ball to Jason Marcano in the centre of the W Connection penalty area. But although hopelessly out of position, and galloping across his exposed goal, keeper Marvin Phillip produced an acrobatic dive to touch the ball wide.

Jabloteh had a period early in each half where they dominated. Lester Peltier showed pace and trickery up the flank, but will never play for a top English team without improving on the series of bad crosses he made yesterday. And in the first half, speedy Jerol Forbes was dangerous for Jabloteh, and despite having four markers around him on one occasion, still forced a low save from Phillip in the W Connection goal.

Forbes made way for another speedster, Cornell Glen at the start of the second half and Glen twice produced good shots at Phillip's goal. There were no goals in the end, but still, it was a fitting way to end a long season.

Congratulations Jabloteh. They show real fortitude keeping that lead under relentless pressure from Connection.

If they do well in champions league the younger players might attract outside interest and start forcing their way into the national pool

Jabloteh cruise despite Fenwick dismissal.

Jabloteh cruise despite Fenwick dismissal.
By: Lasana Liburd (Express).

Clico San Juan Jabloteh stayed on course for a second major trophy this season with a 7-0 rout of Central Football Association (CFA) club, Harlem Strikers, in the TTFF FA Trophy first round on Wednesday night at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva.

Harlem were not short on effort and kept the 2008 and 2007 T&T Pro League champions at bay until the 34th minute when an effort by Jabloteh captain Trent Noel squirmed under the opposing goalkeeper and went in off the inside of the post.

Goals flowed freely thereafter and Jabloteh were four goals ahead at the interval.

But, as they cruised on the field, Jabloteh coach Terry Fenwick was ejected for being too liberal with his views to referee Phillip Jordan early in the second half.

It was also, by all accounts, the Englishman's first expulsion this season although he has had similar problems with officials in the past.

Yet surely the circumstances of Wednesday's FA Trophy fixture suggest that Fenwick is troubled by something more complex than a potty mouth.

Theoretically, Jordan might have been too quick in dishing out the ultimate punishment. But, even if that were the case, most coaches would not have reacted with such a score summary in their favour.

Fenwick, a former England World Cup defender, is clearly not your average Pro League coach-not mentally, at least. Because if his verbal tirade was not an effort to distract from Jabloteh's failings, as they were winning handsomely, or not merely testimony to his loose lips, as he was not ejected in any other match this year, then something deeper could be amiss.

In the aftermath of Jabloteh's draw with W. Connection last weekend, which secured their second successive League title, both coaches moaned about the packed fixture list and made interesting disclosures.

Connection coach Stuart Charles-Fevrier, a very successful football man in his own right, opted to cease all training sessions in the build-up for the decisive match in order to keep his players as fresh as possible.

Fenwick, on the other hand, cranked up his sessions to twice daily to stop his players from self-pity. His message to his troops, spoken or not, was on the relationship between hard work and success. Winners do not need excuses.

A single minded and driven figure, who refuses to accept excuses from within his camp, may also struggle to accept shortcomings from the outside on a point of principle and especially when it impacts on your own job.

Perhaps there are similarities with the motorist who rants when a driver swerves in front of him as well as if the driver proceeds too slowly in the fast lane or exploits the shoulder for an advantage. The first misdemeanor is dangerous to the motorist yet the other two seem just as offensive as the motorist sees them as an affront to the accepted standard and a personal slight-as though the bad driver was somehow taunting him.

And so Fenwick, the country's most successful domestic coach this season, succumbed to football's version of road rage on Wednesday and, possibly, let slip part of the mentality behind Jabloteh's success.

Almost certainly, his lapse revealed more about Jabloteh than Harlem Strikers could.

Noel apart, Ataullah Guerra surprised Harlem custodian Ita Charles with a fierce low effort from outside the area, while Lester Peltier scored twice from improbable angles after cutting in from the left flank and striker Beville Joseph as well as his replacement and former Petrotrin teammate, Jerol Forbes, penalised poor defending. Lively winger Jason Marcano closed the score summary with a late lobbed effort.

Fenwick saw the last three goals from the stands after his latest indiscretion. But clearly there is more to his leadership and Jabloteh's success than an inability to hold his tongue.

FA Trophy results:

He will not be unless Jack has a change of heart is removed from the governance of football in T&T. The first one could only come through death and the second one...well refer to the first one.

In other words Jack hates Fenwick simply because he shows what good organisation and planning can do. Jack never allows anyone to show him up.

Gray free agent after seven years at Jabloteh.

Cyd Gray free agent after seven years at San Juan.
T&T Guardian Reports.

Clico San Juan Jabloteh will be without the services of T&T World Cup defender Cyd Gray after the club decided not the renew the player’s contract after the 2008 season. Gray along with Aurtis Whitley and Anthony Wolfe were all at the time members of Jabloteh when they represented T&T at the 2006 Fifa World Cup in Germany.

However, following the World Cup, striker Wolfe returned to his former club North East Stars and midfielder Whitley joined rivals W Connection in 2008. Now it’s the exit of the 32-year-old Gray after his contract expired at the end of last season ending a seven-year relationship. “As of now he (Gray) is a free agent. We have decided not to renew his contract with the option of adding younger players into our squad that will go a lot longer,” said coach Terry Fenwick.

The Jabloteh head coach expressed satisfaction in the defender during his time at the club adding, “We are pleased with the performances of Cyd during his time with us. He is a great player but I believe it’s time that we open the opportunity to younger guys in our club. We want to thank Cyd for his time at our club and wish him best of luck in his future aspirations.” The relationship between Fenwick and Gray was always one to be watched at under the scope over the last couple years but as Fenwick explained it was just a matter of two strong personalities dealing with each other. “Cyd seems to have grown into his own experience. We are both very strong personalities and that’s what made him the great player that he is,” continued Fenwick. “He has done really well for us and that’s what we will remember.”

Meantime the World Cup player is not certain over his next move but is confident that he will continue as a player when the 2009 season begins. “I’m still considering what to do next,” said Gray. “As of now I’m not willing to discuss my future plans but I’m hopeful that I will be back out as a player in 2009.” The Tobago born player had represented Joe Public in 2001, Tobago United on loan from Jabloteh, and Jabloteh dating back to 2002 in his years of professional football in Trinidad but has never made a name for himself abroad.

Gray had interests from English clubs Gillingham FC and Yeovil Town FC which never materialized but in January 2008 he successfully went on a six-month loan to Indian club Pune FC which was cut short after suffering a broken tibia. He returned to Trinidad and after recovering, returned to duty with Jabloteh helping the team to three titles—the Toyota Classic, League Championship and Big Six—to end 2008. Gray has won three League Championships with the San Juan Kings (2002, 2007, 2008) and the 2005 FA Trophy.

Jabloteh face Pro League exit

Jabloteh face Pro League exit
By WALTER ALIBEY Monday, February 2 2009
TT Newsday

THE FUTURE of CLICO San Juan Jabloteh in the T&T Pro League is uncertain following last Friday’s announcement by the company’s executive chairman Lawrence Duprey, that the group had been plunged into bankruptcy due to the global recession currently being faced.

Government have since agreed to bail-out the financially strapped CL Financial conglomerate which is expected to run well into billions of dollars.

The Government has also acquired the company’s 55 percent shares in Republic Bank and has taken control of Methanol Holdings, CLICO, CLICO Investment Bank (CIB), CMMB and British American.

Yesterday, a member of the team’s staff who wished to remain anonymous expressed the view that the club is in real trouble.

The club which receives a support base from the San Juan Sports and Cultural Club has been solely dependant on the CL Financial group for survival, but it is unsure of whether the asset- rich Clico will be able to continue the sponsorship thereafter.

It is said that the club receives a monthly financial package of $350, 000 which is used to pay expenses, including players’salaries and other bills.

The Jabloteh club consists of the Pro League team, a reserve team, under-18, 16, 14 teams, a youth development clinic, women’s football team and two netball teams.

A reliable source also told Newsday that the pro-league outfit currently has about 50 people employed.

Jerry Hospedales the club’s chairman revealed that all attempts will be made to ensure that the club stays in the pro league.

“The club is 35 years old and therefore we have to look at ways and means of keeping it afloat.

“There are lots of people who depend on the club” Hospedales said. According to the Jabloteh boss, “Until we know exactly what is happening, then will be able to say what steps we can take to help the club.”

He added “We have to sit down and analyse the situation carefully.”

Meanwhile the T&T Pro League called an emergency meeting for tomorrow to try and deal with the possible exclusion of the club from the competition.

Already the league has been struggling with the possible exits of Sangre Grande team North East Stars and St Ann’s Rangers.

Jabloteh's structure is too valuable for T&T football to be allowed to go down the drain.

I suspect that this may have been part of the discussions between Manning and Jack.

Jabloteh developed many of our national team players at all levels...from U 13 up.  For them to fold would be a disaster for football in T&T.
