NBA Impact players
« on: May 21, 2007, 03:50:50 PM »
Folks

Jog yuh memory lil bit...ah tryin to remember names of NBA men who retire into complete obscurity...they was never no stars per se...but they were deadly for their respective teams and one day they just dissappear

as an example..Robert Horry..he never make no commercial or no cereal box..but anybody who watch him  houston, L.A. or S.A. in the playoffs know he is an assassin...when he gone he will just fade, no fanfare nuttn

So far all I could come up with is

Horace Grant
Mitch Richmond
Chris Mullin
Charles Oakley
Rod Strickland
John Starks
and the delicious combination of
Del Curry
&
Glen Rice
Little known fact: The online transportation medium called Uber was pioneered in Trinidad & Tobago in the 1960's. It was originally called pullin bull.

I eh really think he fall off, at least not more than he would have naturally with age.  he was with the bucks with george karl when they had glenn robinson, tim thomas and the young ray allen.  they had high hopes for that team but I don't think they ever get past the 2nd rd of the playoffs before they break up that group.

and of course, playing for the bucks is pretty close to anonymity.

I had only know Tom Chambers from the end of his career.  I had no clue he was one of the premier players in the NBA in the 80s until years after.  he was a multiple time all-star and is famous for this dunk over Mark Jackson

I doh remember Hersey having a bro, but I could be wrong.  There was also Johnny Dawkins who is now an asst with Duke.

Gerald Wilkins used to do as good a job as anybody guarding Jordan when he was with the Knicks.  After Jordan burn Craig Ehlo with the shot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJsPzO4pDsQ) the Cavs had bring him in.  I think the next year Jordan make a similar shot over Wilkins.

then it also had former dunk contest participants like Kenny "skywalker" walker, terence stansbury (the statue of liberty dunk) and Harold Miner.

Jamal Mashburn, Billy Owens, Rony Seikaly, Robert Pack, Elliot Perry (the first man to bring back the high socks in the 90s), Michael Cage, Dale Ellis and Michael Adams also had their own moments in the spotlight at some point or the other.

my god, to hear timmy "commentate" is the worst...the man uses ebonics like they going out of style...e.g. "they be saying..." or "he be putting up 20 pts a night"   he used to get some gigs every so often but after his outburst just before all star weekend he is now persona non grata i am sure.

i know anthony mason used to have a summer b-ball camp in upstate NY.

but i am sure some of the guys mentioned are now probably living comfortably in their mansions, playing golf , gambling etc
