XIII. ELIGIBILITY OF PLAYERS
1. Each participating Association shall select its national representative team from the best players who are subjects of its country and under its jurisdiction and are eligible for selection in accordance with the provisions of Article 15 of the Regulations governing the Application of FIFA Statutes.
2. Each player must be in possession of a legal individual passport containing an up to date photograph and giving full particulars on the date of birth (day. month, year) of the player. If a player is not in possession of a legal individual passport, he shall not be allowed to participate in the tournament.
3. A member Association which has entered the competition shall not refer to its selection as an inferior selection publicly or in the print and/or electronic media.
THe question is, how does Concacaf enforce rule # 1. They can never prove that a country has not brought it's 'best available' players.
Question: Where is Carlos Edwards, where is Kenwyne Jones?
Response (i) : After a long European season these players looked jaded and out of form..or..
Reponse (ii): There are a number of players challenging the TTFF over WC bonuses and from our discussions with them, they would like to play for T&T but it is obvious that they ar not in the right frame of mind to give 100%.
Besides..this rule is probably NOT enforced for teams like T&T who are expected to just make up the numbers anyway (i think we've only gotten out of the group stage once). This is to ensure teams like Mexico and the US bring their best teams and give the tournament some semblance of quality. I may well be wrong...but Concacaf could care less who T&T brings, especially now that the only real marquee name we ever had..Yorke..is retired
Not trying to be negative..just think that there is always a way around these things and the TTFF knows what they doing
