Swansea City Defender Kevin Austin has signed a Contract Exention with the club.

Austin signed a One year deal today at the Liberty Stadium and has become the first out of contract player to sign a new deal with Swansea city.

The Official Anouncement

'Roberto Martinez is delighted that Kevin has decided to extend his stay at the Liberty Stadium.'

There are 5 other new contract extentions with Swansea City players that are still to be resolved.Kristian O Leary , Steven Watt, Bayo Akinfenwa, Izzy Ireikpen and Garry Monk have all failed at this stage to put pen to paper on new deals.

There have been concerns that the negotiations have not been proceeding well.

An unnamed source at the club stated to the South Wales Evening Post

''The offers have been made to the players in good faith and yet the club have been left in limbo at a time when we need to push on, finalize our budgets and see what money is available to strengthen the squad....but the impression we're getting is that they aren't that bothered about staying...frustration is certainly growing within the club.'

It is hoped that Austin can perform in the 2007/08 season after a Heart Scare at Huish Park vs Yeovil last season. The scare threatened his footballing Career but Kevin was able to bounce back from his heart concerns.

There is no word on the progress of negotiations with the other out of contract players but it is growing increasingly likely there will be more departures in the club.
