He certainly didnt play like that tho. He disappoints me most of the times that I see him play. Daz just me tho....I hope he cud prove me wrong but I haven't seen anything so far to suggest that he as good as ppl claim

That has been the general sentiment on the board. The only man who might give yuh talk for saying that is TI.

Toussaint should be on the squad. He is about 26. Not as striker but as an attacking mid-fielder. If he has two good defensive mids next to him he will be able to bring the ball from mid-field to the six yards box. he has the skill and composure. He may need to go to the weight room also. A strong man with good skills will help our team. Densil has not maintained that WC form, especially against quality teams. He play ok against the Caribbean teams, but against the US, he was not even able to bring the ball from our defence to the half line consistently.

it was very painful to watch any of the games cause the level of the players was very low. i do not know where trinidad football is heading cause the next generation looks circumspect. this boy sean powers not good at all, i kept on saying how he made the team and if that is the best left sided player in the country. he was just giving the ball away all the time. he was the worst of them al, him and glascow. so on a positive side spann, theobald to an extent(not really impressed), keeper williams, toussaint has some touches, but need to be in a midfield role. one or two others but on an international level we need help.

finally ah find somebody who endorses my sentiments. from before the tournament i could not understand what all de hype was about theobald. i have NEVER seen him have a good game. de closest he came was the game he scored in during the digicel cup...before and after that is real shit from this man. errol is meh boy from long time and ah have been one of his biggest advocates...when he is fit though!!! darryl is another one who just needs that confidence and he will win games for us. andre...is only if this man play attacking midfield will be the only way i seeing him making this team when (or if) the guns arrive. jan is we biggest player and will continue to be for many years to come. noreiga has to be there as well. after he...scrap that entire backline...maybe we can salvage wolfe!!! trent noel defintely...silvio too but ah fit silvio!!! :beermug: :beermug:

And Toussaint was by far our best player in the US game. Ppl vex he gettin bump off the ball, but he looked the most composed on the ball in the US game.

only in the 2nd half when he played more withdrawn. 1st half he was the worst player on the pitch. Over the 90 minutes, Jan and Aguilera were better

Saw the Guat game las night.

The team played much better than I expected....against a (what I believe to be anyway) full strength Guatemalan team, with 10 men fuh more than half the game.

To more than hold your own against Guatemala is a testament to dese fellas.  Me eh know wha people was expectin.

Noel was very impressive

So too Theobald.  Yes Theobald

I watch Power close and everytime he get de ball I tellin mehself....yeah...dis go be de bad pass....yet...ah seein when he pass de ball...even when it goin long...it went to a man, ON DE FIELD, in T&T colours.  Allyuh jokey bad if allyuh slaggin off dis yute.

Toussaint was Toussaint...lil darting runs but again....too easily bounced off the ball for my liking

Roberts was a BEAST.  Only criticism I have...he does WAAAAYYY too much running.  At dis rate, he goin to bun heself out.  But good control, strong on de ball, and a fighter.  De lil cameo down in de end was priceless!  To me, de most impressive part of Roberts game is his off de ball running.

McFarlane did a nice job too.  A real physical presence that the Guat defenders DID NOT LIKE.

Even Gary "trow way" Glasgow did a nice job wit his mazy runs etc.

Spann disappointed.  He jes not fit.

Wolfe did a decent job at left back

Keyeno is a good soldier and plays with heart.  Kinda wile doh.

Dwayne Jack wasn't bad eedah fuh de lil time he was on de field.  Another "project".

Jan Michael did what he had to do

I addin Noel, Wolfe, & McFarlane to meh list of players who could train wit a full strength Natl team.

Matter of fact....to be quite honest....all a dem could train wee....if only fuh de HEART dey show!

He had a good first half...by the time the second half came around, the team was collectively tired, had no shape on Guate counter attacks, and hence the backline very very exposed....Our defense was in often in shambles on the break- can't single out Power.....

2nd half openings may have been partly due to fatigue, but I doubt it was that so much as the fellas had to go for the win and Wim made some aggressive subs..We were already playing with 10 men and then Wim took of Keyeno..So none of the starting central defensive pairing was left and Trent Noel (who did a great job protecting the defense) had to fall back. So you had no more bite in the midfield and so Guate had room to run at the back 4. yet we stillbroke up attack after attack. when you consider that Guate only start to really break them down in the last 10 minutes..the fellas do real good. I think the shape was compromised due to tactical reasons, not cuz the fellas was bun.

I agree. Seon Power looked very good at right back. Once yuh move him to the left or central defense..that is where he loses some confidence and his ditribution falls apart..Not his natural positions. We saw him play in his best postion for less than 45 minutes...and he was unbeatable and came out of the defense with ball well and all his passes hit their mark. Watch him for the 1st half against Guate..well done

Yuh like to contradict me eh.
Name one player int he last 3 years not named Latapy, Yorke or Edwards who was capable of collecting a ball in traffic, holding onto it and possibly turning a man. I find Toussaint could do that man. Good for an attacking or central mid-role.

Yeah but Latas used to get shots on goal (including ones that hit the net)....or provide assists/telling passes...Latas strength was not in his ability to dribble-  that was just one of his assets......Toussaint ain't prove that he could put his individual skill to effective use yet...doh get me wrong, I was always a fan of Toussaint from long time...and he has individual skill- but I'm yet to be convinced of how effective he can be at the highest level.

We've had quite a few, including the likes of Dwarika and Angus Eve. You saw Darryll Roberts do it at the end of the Guateh game when moved central and started to take men on. Dey couldn't stop him. he made at least 4 great unstoppable runs with men all over his back

I doh doubt Touissant ability one sec..but just because the man light up a 45 minutes against the US does not amke him our best performer over 90 minutes. I find Touissant needs to develop some other attributes. He has the skill and the brains and therefore the potential. Needs to develop a physical presence (that doh mean he hadda get big and strong) and a he need a better burst of speed off the mark. You see the runs Daryll was making at the end of the Guateh game.... His last run he turn on a dime with two men kicking him, ride another tackle, breed a next man who rush in and dish a thru ball to MacFarlane that was slightly overhit. Before that he had at least 3 runs..I remember one they had to foul him in the edge of the box after he turn 2 defenders on a dime. If you ask me, who will develop into the kind of player that you hoping Touissant could be on an international level....I would say from what I saw that Daryll (who also younger and getting better experience at club level) has the edge.. Two different players but both seem suited to playing just behind the main striker or strikers. Daryll was having a poor tournament for the most part, but yuh see what yuh could do when he get his head into it...Personally, Touissant still looking too lightweight for me..for now at least.

Toussaint is a bit of an enigma.  During the games it was almost as if he thought that the international game was being played on a circle field, with a square ball and 16 players per team.  Meaning that he was acting as if it was not the same football that he plays at home, albeit at a higher level.

One good thing about very young players is that they usually have no fear.  They will run out there and be oblivious to the bright lights and the big stage.  As you get older, fear kicks in, and trepidation, and self-doubt.

Toussaint was playing like he was doubting that his game could stand up in the international arena.  And so he tried to be so precise, and was so careful, that he ending up being clumsy, underweighting many of his passes, and "thinking" too much when he had the ball at his feet.

I feel he could play at the international level.  He needs to feel confident about that now.

When he does, he will be a good weapon for the team.

I think one of the glaring differences between Roberts and Toussaint is that the former has tremendous fight, and an aggressive attitude which was evident in all 3 of the GC games. Roberts can also take some punishment just as well as he can inflict it on the opposition. He also rarely stops running, similar to KaKa...

I dunno how to explain, but I believe that Toussaint just has IT.
He just seems to have a lot of time on the ball. Yuh just don't see that every day, particularly in Trinidad. All the other players seemed rushed and that often resulted in errant passes or poor first touches. (See: Spann, Theobold and last but not least, Glasgow)
I like his technique too.
Roberts looked good in the end but he still a little wild. Yuh have to admit them runs had look lil wil'. But I like him too.
I all for runnin the youths. Let them keep playing together. The growth they showed in a short period of time is a positive sign.

I cyah disagree wit you because me eh know what your expectations of Theobald is.  If you expeckin he to dominate de midfield, rip de entire opposition defence, provide defence splittin passes and score at least 2 goal a game....den yeah....ah guess he go be overrated in your eyes.

For me tho, Theobald is de glue of our midfield in DIS side.  He gets the most touches of anyone on the team and is quite mobile.  Yes...most of his passes go no further than 5 yards but check him out....he is always making himself available for the ball.  It is a role that was performed by David Nakhid in the past....i.e. midfield organizer.  Theobald doesn't have the skill level of Nakhid, but he does a decent job nonetheless.  At least he is willing to tackle and put himself about which is something Nakhid was quite deficient in.

The role that Theobald plays is one that is typically under appreciated by many Trinbagonians.  We all want to see dis midfield "GENERAL".  A man who could rip 3 men in one move and pass de ball wit outside and inside of de foot wit flair and style.  Den we go bawl...."DAT is player!!!"  Well...it only have 1 Latapy.  The likes of him come along maybe once in a generation.,,,IF YUH LUCKY.  Deal wit dat reality.

Theobald game can improve plenty.  Of that there is no doubt.  But to say he overrated and did nothing in the Gold Cup....well ah guess dat depends on de eye of de beholder.
