I glad for de youth. Not sure about that club, but at least they in de Premiership and who knows Jones may get more interest should he do good at that level. And if Wednesday get relegated I'm sure he would be picked up by another club. But this is a chance for us to see what Jones could de at that level. Many good players try at the EPL and fail....

Like you was in a coma since 1999. Sheffield Wednesday was last in the premiership in the 1999-2000 season.

Owls Linked With Former Loan Star

In another piece of summer speculation OwlsOnline understands that having shelved plans to sign Billy Sharp, Brian Laws has turned his attention towards former loan star Kenwyne Jones.

The Trinidad and Tobago hitman was a star under former Owls boss Paul Sturrock in a loan stint with Wednesday in the 2004-2005 season equaling the consecutive goal per game scoring record.

We at Owlsonline understand that a fee believed to be in the £1.5 region has been agreed in principle between the two clubs and Jones is expected for talks when he returns from his holiday in Trinidad.

The move is being spear headed by chairman Dave Allen who is pressing ahead with the move despite only having early discussions on the topic with Owls manager Brian Laws

Sheffield give up on Jones.

Sheffield Wednesday have given up trying to sign Saints striker Kenwyne Jones, according to the Owls official website. Jones, who had a highly successful loan spell with the South Yorkshire side in the 2004/05 season, will remain on the South Coast after scoring 18 goals in all competitions last season. The Owls chief executive Kaven Walker said, 'We've had a £2m offer for Kenwyne Jones rejected and there won't be another one because Southampton have told us categorically that he's not for sale.'

Now why would Jones want to go to Wednesday? That club was close to administraton about 3-4 years ago, if I'm not mistaken, and went down to the third division. Good storied past, but not the club you would go to, if youre aspiring for higher. He'd be better off staying put at Southampton and fighting it out for a spot in the Prem.
