Fenerbahçe Friday signed English-born Turkish national Colin Kazım-Richards from Sheffield United on a four-year deal. Sheffield United will receive a fee of one million 275,000 pounds from the transfer. Born in Leytonstone, England in 1986, Richards is the son of a Turkish Cypriot mother and an Antigua-born father.
Kazim-Richards made his international debut for Turkey as a substitute in a 0-0 friendly draw against Brazil 10 days ago and was appeared twice for the U21 squad where he scored a goal. "I know I have made the right decision to come to the biggest club in Turkey," Kazim-Richards said before the signing ceremony. "I can't wait for the season to start and for Fenerbahçe to go on to win another Turkish title." The young player can play as an attacking midfielder and striker and was transferred to fill the void left by the departure of Tuncay Şanlı, who moved to Middlesborough last week.
