Nemanja Vidic: Manchester United defender has knee surgery

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has been ruled out for eight weeks following a knee operation.
Vidic missed Sunday's Premier League win at Liverpool after complaining of tightness in his right knee.
However, further tests revealed the problem to be more severe than initially expected and the centre-back was forced to undergo surgery.

United's central defensive woes

Nemanja Vidic (knee): Expected back: 20 November

Phil Jones (knee): Expected back: 20 Oct

Chris Smalling (foot): Expected back: 7 Oct

The 30-year-old Serb missed the final five months of last season with a ruptured cruciate knee ligament.
"Nemanja Vidic has had a meniscus operation on his right knee and will be out for around eight weeks," read a club statement.

"Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson rested Vidic as a precautionary measure at the weekend after he complained of tightness in his knee. However, further medical investigation revealed the underlying problem.

"The central defender was operated on this week and will be sidelined for about eight weeks."
It is the latest defensive blow for United, who have suffered injuries to fellow centre-backs Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.

Smalling was sidelined for 10 weeks in July with a broken metatarsal and Jones for eight weeks in early September with a knee complaint.

Vidic joined United from Spartak Moscow in 2006 and has scored 17 goals in 246 appearances for the Old Trafford club.

Justice for the farce at Anfield last week.

Never justice unless we finish above them in the table... but it will go some ways.  Meanwhile Halsey nearly screw City earlier today with yet another dreadful penalty given to Fulham.  Two fans on Twitter say he shoulda die of cancer and he run to police to complain like ah bitch.  Not that what they said was right, but no crime... as the police properly determined.  His ass needs to go back to the pub leagues.

Congrats to Spurs! But dam they rode some luck! Great goalkeeping by the old man  :applause:

ManU does real batter yuh into submission when they behind at home, but today it was not to be.

PS: after Gallas rest that tackle on VanP, he really did not want to know about the rest of the game.

Even if it was a legitimate infringement, the contact occurred outside the penalty area. It should have been a free kick on the edge of the box. To put it mildly,  Halsey has really been at the centre of some very controversial calls in the last two weeks. City was fortunate to prevail.

De Gea would have made the save on Bale's goal and also parried Bale's shot away from the unrushing shithound Dempsey.
Fergie frustrates me with team selections(no reason De Gea should not be playing or to play Giggs on the wing instead of Welbeck) and the continued lack of a midfielder who can add some graft to the side. If we have midfielders who are not good enough to contribute then get rid of them, why bring them back for another season and continue to have the same problems? Fletcher can bring that to the table but he cannot play all of the matches.  Why not change up the formations when we are down to only one healthy winger. Giggs likes to play down the middle even when he starts on the wing. I feel we miss Carlos when it comes to formualting game plans and making adjustments during games, those two coaches on the bench are useless.

Isn't that the manager's job though? If the coaches are coaching and managing then what's the role of the manager, especially one as great as the infallable SAF?

No matter who the manager is it helps to have people who can provide input in the form of fresh ideas , because they may be seeing it from a different lense regarding how to utilize personell or attack an opponent.  Carlos when he was at United provided input and helped Fergie with stratigies( especially defensive) during and before matches, especially in Europe.  He may not have the best record as a manager but he was an excellent number 2, when he was at United. Plus he was not British which I think was a plus considering the team has more foreign talent than British talent. Mike Whelan who is the current number 2 is old, English and to similar to Fergie IMO.
Fergie IMO has slipped with some of the decisions he has made which has led to United losing points or matches. I still doh understand why the f$ck he has done nothing about the hole left by Hagreves' departure or that we lack creativity in midfield when Scholes doesn't play.
