Giggs just couldn't resist... man warming up to come on for his last Old Trafford swansong.
He's the interim coach so he can select himself whenever his heart desires ;D

Initially struck by the fact that Giggs doesn't have more caps for Wales given his longevity in the game ... but, upon reflection, thought dahis club over country business.

Wales has produced some quality talent, albeit not ever in the same generation?

Not sure if this is true as yet, because The Guardian is reporting something else.

Louis van Gaal ends Manchester United’s interest in Toni Kroos
• New manager decides against pursuing midfielder
• Bayern Munich star had been long-term target of David Moyes

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/may/22/louis-van-gaal-ends-manchester-united-interest-toni-kroos-bayern-munich

Louis van Gaal has ended Manchester United’s interest in Toni Kroos, in what represents the new manager’s first major decision regarding the rebuilding of his squad this summer.
The Bayern Munich midfielder had been pursued by David Moyes, Van Gaal’s predecessor, with the 24-year-old identified as being able to help solve the deficit in United’s central midfield department.

Kroos, who impressed in a deep-lying role when Bayern knocked United out of last season’s Champions League, has only a year left to run on his contract at the German club.

Yet despite his ability to also play in the No10 role or as box-to-box midfielder, Van Gaal, who is aware of Kroos’s abilities from his own time managing Bayern, has decided he should not be a target for the club this close season.
The darkest hour is just before the dawn.

Doh take the shake...

Toni Kroos no longer a target for United
May 22, 2014
http://www.espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1829741/manchester-united-no-longer-trying-sign-bayern-munich-star-toni-kroos?cc=5901

By Richard Jolly

Manchester United are no longer trying to sign Toni Kroos after new manager Louis van Gaal decided to pursue other targets, a club source has told ESPN FC.

The Germany international midfielder was wanted at Old Trafford by former manager David Moyes, who scouted him extensively.

But Van Gaal, who managed Kroos during his reign in charge of Bayern Munich, will not bid for the 24-year-old.

The 62-year-old Dutchman inherited a list of targets from Moyes, who revamped United's scouting system and compiled short and long lists of players to try and sign this summer.

Moyes, who said United needed a "fundamental rebuilding" of the squad this summer, was eager to strengthen in the centre of midfield and Van Gaal is also expected to sign in that department.

Kroos, whose passing game has made him a key member of Bayern's team, was identified as a potential target because his current contract with Die Roten will expire in 2015.

Bayern manager Pep Guardiola has suggested he is keen to keep Kroos and the club are eager to offer him an extended deal.

But the Bundesliga champions have also warned Kroos that they will not be held to ransom, with president Karl Hopfner telling kicker: "We will not overstep certain financial limits."

Kroos responded to Hopfner's quotes later on Thursday, telling Bild he had expected the club to make such comments.

"I have to accept and respect it," he said. "But, honestly, I had expected nothing else when I turned down the club's offer earlier this year."

Officials with the German national team have stated that they do not want Kroos' contract situation to interfere with his World Cup preparations.

Van Gaal has also been linked with Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman, a player he knows from his time managing Holland, and Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas, who was wanted by Moyes last summer.

Quote
Scholes was brought back to United as a coach under the interim manager, Ryan Giggs, for the last four matches of the season. But with Van Gaal now the permanent manager and Giggs his No2, Scholes, along with Phil Neville and Nicky Butt, who had each also assisted the Welshman, have yet to have any official clarification regarding their future.

Scholes, though, who won 11 titles with United, is convinced he will not be asked to continue at the club. “I’ve not spoken to Edward Woodward. I came back for Ryan Giggs for the last few games of last season to try to help out but I’m not waiting for a phone call and don’t expect to be at United next season.”

The 39-year-old then offered the first public criticism of Woodward, who oversaw United’s disastrous summer in the transfer market. “David Moyes took a lot of stick, but I believe he’s a top manager. I’d question if 10 months was enough time [before he was sacked],” Scholes told Paddy Power Blog. “Edward Woodward has an awful lot to prove this time that he’s good enough at his job. He has to bring the players in that the new manager wants. It’s obvious that last year he didn’t manage to do that. If he doesn’t we are not going to get anywhere near the top.”

The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today are Christians who acknowledge Jesus ;with their lips and walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.
