In its opening match at the same venue on Saturday, captain Jerrel Britto scored a beaver-trick in T&T’s 9-0 drubbing of Bahamas while Aruba pipped US Virgin Islands 1-0 to set up a clash on winning teams.
At stake for T&T and Aruba will be a guaranteed spot in the last-eight, while the losers will still have a chance to qualify from their last round-robin match as one of the best second placed teams.
Looking ahead to the clash with the Arubans who were originally expected to meet T&T on Saturday, coach Reynold Carrington said his players are very cofident that they can come away with another win to top the group.
“We had a team chat after the performance against the Bahamians and the guys know that once they continue to do the right thing on the field and keep our structure we will come out with the right results.
Reflecting on the first match Carrington said he was a bit disappointed in his players inability to keep focus and discipline.
“I think the guys once they realised that we were superior to Bahamas allowed indiscipline to step into their match.
“We were able to score five goals at the end of the first-half, but in the second period it seemed as though we lost focus as everybody was just concentrating on trying to score and not to plan, added Carrington.
In addition to the two matches at Mucurapo, other teams hoping to maintain their winning record includes Antigua & Barbuda, Suriname, Bermuda and El Salvador in matches across the twin-island Republic from 10am.
