Gamecock forward named to W-League All Conference Team

South Carolina forward Darcel Mollon has been named to the W-League All-Conference Team for the second consecutive season, as voted on by team coaches and general managers of the 35-club W-League of the United Soccer Leagues.

Mollon, a senior from Chauganas, Trinidad, was named to the All-Central Conference team after playing the 2007 season for the Charlotte Lady Eagles. Mollon will return to the Gamecocks this season after missing the 2006 campaign with injuries.


USC women's soccer season opener time change

The season opener for the South Carolina women's soccer team against North Carolina at Chapel Hill has been changed to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, to avoid conflict with North Carolina's football season opener.

The Gamecocks and Tar Heels were originally scheduled to open the season at Fetzer Field at 7 p.m., one hour after the start of North Carolina's football home opener.
