An allround stella performance from the Trinidad & Tobago women's team brought back memories of the glory years in the '80's for the national team when they dominated regional basketball. This time however the team was able to defeat 28th world rank Dominican Rep in what turned out to be a close encounter after early domination fromTnT.
The women finally brought joy to a dismal display by Trinidad and Tobago basketball as both the boys Under 17 and the senior men's team left the tournament without a single victory combine.
The Christopher Jackson coached women however had other ideas as they led 21 - 16 early and 45 - 36 at the half.Although they carried the same intensity into the third quarter the team took what was seemingly an easy victory down to the wire as Dominican Rep came on strong in the last quater but it was too late as the Pietra Gay led team eventually compose themselves for the 69 - 63 victory.
The national team was led by point guard standout Pietra Gay former WNBA player who now plays in Romania, 15pts , 7rbs and 4 asst.Sterling contributions also came from Trecha Ann Jackson Kennedy 15pts,11rbs 1blk , and Rhea Codio with 16pts.
