Winston Dookeran ...CONGRESS of the People (COP) leader Winston Dookeran said a COP government would sell Prime Minister Patrick Manning’s controversial $148M new residence and use the proceeds to properly pay CEPEP workers, whom he said earn less than the minimum wage.
Dookeran won loud cheers from supporters as he addressed a COP meeting at Pasea Road, Tunapuna, on Tuesday evening. He said Manning was mistaken if he thought CEPEP workers would vote for him because of their retroactive wage hike. “People are thinking of their long- term future. We’ll not be bribed anymore.”
Dookeran declared: “The Empire must go!”. He hit Manning for asking people to have faith in him, after he had already spent $200B of their money.
Dookeran hit Government for its secrecy over the Ryder Scott Report which exposed this country’s low gas reserves and a European Union report into poverty.
“We live in a democracy. The first right of our people is to demand information. No Government has the right to make decisions about a report and not share the report’s findings with the people.”
On the gas report, Dookeran slammed BP(TT) head Robert Riley for defending Manning’s claim that sufficient gas existed despite Riley allegedly not having a copy of the report according to Dookeran.
“It is time that we the people of this country demand full, open, transparent government in a democratic society.”
Now that have to be the most stupid thing a man who want to become Prime Minister could say. What on earth is he thinking ?
