History T&T:

Trinidad & Tobago hosted the FIFA U-17 World Cup back in 2001, but the team failed to make it out of the first round. Korea 2007 will be T&T's second appearance at a FIFA U-17 finals. Trinidad & Tobago have lost all six of their matches in FIFA youth competitions: three at the FIFA U-20 World Cup 1991 and three at the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2001.
T&T's U-17 team is the only one of their national sides to have scored a goal in a FIFA competition (two in 2001 vs Croatia & Brazil) and neither their U-20 team nor their senior side, which played at the 2006 FIFA World Cup™, have found the net at a FIFA tournament.

The present
On Monday 20 August, in their opening Group F match, the Africans celebrated a convincing 4-1 victory over Trinidad and Tobago at the Cheonan Sports Complex.
The Ghanaians had their first clear chance after only two minutes, but Sadick Adams failed to convert. However, Ransford Osei made no mistake in the 12th minute as he rounded off a rapid break down the right wing to put the Black Starlets into a 1-0 lead. T&T had a couple of chances through Daniel Joseph, but in general Ghana dominated the play. Inspired by the excellent Adams and Osei, the Africans created plenty of openings themselves, with the latter making it 2-0 just before the break, before Adams added a third in first-half stoppage time.
In the second half the Ghanaians sat back a little, allowing T&T to create a few opportunities. One of these was converted by substitute Stephan Campbell, who struck a powerful free kick from almost 30 metres to notch a consolation goal for his team. But in the 85th minute Ghana had the final say, when substitute Kelvin Bossmann converted to make the final score 4-1.

History Colombia:

The past
This will be the first time that the teams have met at a FIFA youth tournament. Germany are currently on a run of seven matches without a win at FIFA U-17 World Cups, their last victory dating back to 7 September 1997, when they beat Thailand 3-0. Since then, they have only managed four draws and three defeats. Colombia on the other hand have never won their opening match at a FIFA U-17 World Cup. They drew 1-1 with Guinea in 1989 and 0-0 with Mexico in 2003, while in 1993 they went down 0-2 to Qatar.

The present
Germany have opened their FIFA U-17 World Cup Korea 2007 campaign with a draw after the Europeans let slip a two-goal lead in their Group F meeting with Colombia at the Cheonan Sports Complex on Monday 20 August.
Germany had the better of the early exchanges, but the opening goal of the match fell to the South Americans when captain Miguel Julio rose to meet a 14th-minute free kick with a powerful header. The Germans quickly recovered and began creating chances before Dennis Dowidat netted a spectacular 34th-minute equaliser, accelerating past his marker down the right and arrowing a drive into the far top corner from a tight angle. The Europeans took the lead just five minutes later after a fine passing move down the right flank, Richard Sukuta-Pasu converting a low cross to hand his side a 2-1 half-time lead.
The Germans extended their advantage with a similar move shortly after the restart, Toni Kroos supplying a perfect cross for Dowidat to poke him his second of the game on 49 minutes. However, the Colombians responded magnificently and Cristian Nazarith pulled one back from a 66th-minute penalty, before the same player made the final score 3-3 with a long-range thunderbolt three minutes from time.

The words
"Germany are a very strong team with a number of good players. We've already been watching a few videos of them. My lads are really looking forward to the tournament getting under way. They want to show what they're capable of at a World Cup." Eduardo Lara, Colombia coach.
"The Colombians will be tough opposition. In the qualifiers, they drew 0-0 with Brazil and got more points than Argentina. They are incredibly solid at the back and are quick on the break. But we've been preparing specifically for this match and we're going into the tournament with a lot of confidence." Heiko Herrlich, Germany coach.

Ryan O'Neil should replace Primus in defence. I remember he was the captain and did a great job for T&T during the qualifers.

4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 against Colombia.

We need a ball winner in midfield.

Good luck against Colombia.

             Samuel
O'Neil, Cyrus, Adams, Balbosa
Lewis, Paul, Sullivan, Campbell
              Daniel
               Knox

subs from

Maund for Daniel
Molino for Campbell
De Silva for Sullivan
Rochford for Lewis
Marcus for Knox

I saw the TT goal vs Ghana on FIFA highlight. Great shot. Nice set play. We getting left out on the quick one-twos. Out defence are not running back hard enough to prevent the on coming forwards. But go brave Young Warriors. I believe they can get a point in the next game.

Tension boy. Ghana cracks one off the bar right at the end. Germany prevails though.

Good luck to T&T up next.
