Where on earth is Bora?
Technical director misses training, whereabouts unknown

ARANJESTAD, Aruba - Technical director of Jamaica's football, Velibor 'Bora' Milutinovic, was noticeably missing from Jamaica's Under-23 Olympic team's training session here Monday.

When enquiries were made of the management staff here, no one could give account for Bora's whereabouts.
Bora, who arrived here late Saturday night, was on the bench for the team's 6-1 thrashing of Antigua/Barbuda on Sunday evening. Prior to the start of Sunday's game Bora was heard enquiring about the location of the eastern Caribbean island of St Kitts and it is believed that is where he has gone to.

A release from the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) last Friday said that Bora was leaving Jamaica a day late to join the delegation in Aruba. The delegation had departed earlier Friday. Stated the release: "Technical Director of the National Football Programme, Mr Velibor Milutinovic, leaves the island tomorrow, Saturday, September 8, to join the delegation presently in Aruba for the Caribbean leg of the Olympic Qualifiers.

The Technical Director returns with the delegation on September 14, 2007."

Time and again, Bora had insisted that the Under-23 group will be vital to preparations for the 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign for South Africa, but thus far he is yet to get on the ball for this tournament. In February, Bora successfully guided a core group of Olympic team members to Hong
Kong to win the Lunar New Year's Cup.

The 63-year-old, who took the reins of Jamaica's football earlier this year, is being paid an astounding US$1 million per year.

Jamaica are here in this southern Caribbean island where they are competing against the hosts Aruba, Antigua/Barbuda and Barbados in Group B of the CFU Olympic Games qualifying tournament.

 ;D ;D Who knows.

Boxhill is already out. Captain Burrell cannot enter the JFF office until after the legit November 4 JFF elections  :rotfl:.

From the good of it all: Jamaican-born Coach Downswell is not faltering.  ;D

Slippery Bora turns up in Aruba

ORANJESTAD, Aruba - Technical director of Jamaica's football, Velibor 'Bora' Milutinovic, who did not show for the Under-23 team's training on Monday and whose whereabouts were not known since last seen Sunday night, returned to the team hotel late Monday night.

Bora was last spotted at the Complehjo Deportivo Guillermo Trinidad on Sunday night for Jamaica's 6-1 win over Antigua/Barbuda.

When checks were made, members of the management staff here could not give account of the coach's whereabouts as they claimed "he did not say anything to us".

Bora, who was heard enquiring of the location of the nearby island of St Kitts, was initially believed to have gone there, but the Serb-born Mexican is said to have been in Aruba soaking up the sights of this beautiful island in a rented motorcar.

St Kitts is currently hosting Group D of the CFU Olympic qualifiers.

The coach, who has the distinction of guiding five separate nations to World Cup Finals, was not originally scheduled to travel to Aruba with the group on Friday, but surprised many when he appeared at the Coconut Inn Saturday night.

A press release from the JFF had stated that Bora would join the team a day later here, but team managers were not expecting him.

Bora, who was hired to spearhead Jamaica's World Cup qualifying efforts to the 2010 World Cup Finals, was on hand for Jamaica's second match against Barbados on Tuesday evening where the Boyz won 1-0.

The 63-year-old - signed to the JFF for a whopping US$1 million per year through to 2010 - has not interfered with the coaching of the team so far, but has offered himself more in an advisory capacity as Wendell Downswell is said to be the man in charge.

Didn't want to start a separate thread on this. I figure I stick it here:

Reggae Boyz remain idle for friendlies
Kwesi Mugisa, Staff Reporter (Gleaner)

published: Thursday | September 13, 2007

WITH NO match confirmed, Jamaica's Reggae Boyz remained idle for another FIFA international friendly date yesterday.

Although negotiations had been on going and sources close to the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) had hinted at the possibility of the national team taking on Colombia, those talks broke down and the JFF, apparently, instead chose to focus on the Under-23 Olympic qualifiers. National technical director Velibor 'Bora' Milutinovic left the island on Saturday to join the team coached by former national coach Wendell Downswell.

The Jamaican's have not taken part in an international friendly since late June when a 22-man local squad toured Asia under Milutinovic. On that occasion, the team experienced some disastrous results including a 8-1 drubbing at the hands of then 45th-ranked Iran.

A worrying statistic for the national team, which missed out on a chance to face the region's top teams by failing to claim a spot in this year's Gold Cup, is that the powerhouse teams seem to already be well under way interms of preparing for the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers, which are expected to begin early next year.

Canada, Costa Rico, Mexico, Panama and Honduras were in action yesterday while El Salvador and Trinidad and Tobago already have friendly internationals booked for next month.

The United States, the top team from the 2006 qualification campaign, continued their preparations by hosting five-time World Cup champions Brazil in a 4-2 losing effort on Monday.
