T&T women team crush St Vincent 9-0 in Olympic opener.

Surinam, T&T open Caribbean women’s Qualification with victories.

Trinidad & Tobago and the hosts Surinam opened the Caribbean First Round Group A to the 2008 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualification with victories over St. Vincent & The Grenadines and Grenada, respectively, at the Dr. Ir. Franklin Essed Stadium in Paramaribo on Tuesday.
Avenell Isaac had four goals, while Tasha St. Louis added two more to lead Trinidad & Tobago (1-0-0, 3 Points) to a 9:0 win over St. Vincent & The Grenadines (0-1-0, 0 Points).
In the other group encounter on Tuesday, Jolanda Saling had three goals, while Brigitta Rigthers, Aisa Smit and Eleonoor Wisch each scored for Surinam (1-0-0, 3 Points) in the 6:1 triumph against Grenada (0-1-0, 0 Points).
The Caribbean First Round Group A continues at the Dr. Ir. Franklin Essed Stadium on Thursday when Trinidad & Tobago takes on Grenada and then Surinam hosts St. Vincent & The Grenadines. The quadrangular concludes on Sunday with St. Vincent & The Grenadines facing Grenada and then Surinam greeting Trinidad & Tobago.
The winner of Group A will join the victors from the other three Caribbean Groups in the second round later this year with the top two teams progressing to the final round of 2008 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualification.
Elsewhere, the Women’s Central American Qualification will have El Salvador taking on Nicaragua in a home-and-away first round series from 6-13 October with the winner advancing to meet Costa Rica in the second round later in the month.
The Central American Second Round Winner will secure a place in the 2008 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualification Final Round joining the two Caribbean qualifiers, Canada, Mexico and USA, with venue and dates to be announced in due course, where two teams will qualify to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
