Women blank Grenada
...but face big game vs hosts on Sunday.
By: Shaun Fuentes (TTFF).

Trinidad and Tobago’s Women Olympic team scored another convincing win, this time a 6-0 thumping of Grenada on Thursday but will have to overcome another hurdle on Sunday if they are to progress in the qualifying campaign for the Beijing Olympics.
Despite their two wins in the tournament so far, the T&T Women will need to avoid a loss to hosts Suriname on Sunday to progress as both teams are on six points and only the Group winner will advance.
T&T has just a one goal lead on goal goal difference. They have scored 15,conceding none while Suriname have scored 16 and conceded two.
The hosts are coming off a strong 10-1 win over St Vincent/Grenadines and will be up for the challenge at the Dr. Ir. Franklin Essed Stadium in Paramaribo.
T&T coach Marlon Charles, going into the tournament knew that his team would have to come good right down to the final game.
“We knew it was never going to be a situation where we would come out of the group easily. The fact that one team alone goes through makes it competitive and even though we won our first two games quite comfortably, the biggest challenge will come on Sunday and we have to be ready to take it on,” Charles told TTFF Media.
Tasha St Louis led all scores on Thursday with three while Avenell Isaac, Jenelle Nedd and Mariah Shade each added to the scoreline.
In the other group match on Thursday, Jolanda Saling had six goals, while Aisa Smit scored three more to lead Surinam over St Vincent.
The winner of this Group A will join the victors from the other three Caribbean Groups in the second round later this year with the top two teams progressing to the final round of 2008 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualification.
