It's real cut-throat dog-eat-dog out there.
Hope these guys have their poker faces on out there.
I also hope that the local players are watching and learn to play chess moves carefully with their careers.
Main thing is to be empowered with several job options and never beg or look desperate for a wok.
To avoid being desperate folks like Hyland must know they are good and do their homework and send the right body language and be well represented.
Good luck fellahs!

Agreed... Mark Hughes have to be some kinda sensitive jackass fuh getting vex because Kenwyne text him to tell him he eh feel like playing.  Managers today need to accept that players are the ones making the most money, so players have a right to say when they feel like playing and when they don't.  Matter of fact, KJ should text Van Gaal and tell him he feel like playing fuh Manchester United and then just show up at Old Trafford.  If they doh like it just hop on de M40, ah sure they go love it at Stamford Bridge.

Kenwyne Jones is staying at Cardiff City - Russell Slade insists his star striker will stay as January fire sale continues

Kenwyne Jones's teammates are desperate to hold onto him
After John Brayford and Kim Bo-Kyung left Cardiff City on Saturday, manager Russell Slade insisted his top scorer, Kenwyne Jones, would be staying put.
Cardiff City boss Russell Slade insists top-scorer Kenwyne Jones is staying at the club.

As the Bluebirds manager looks to cut the club’s wage bill, Jones remains one of the biggest earners at the club.

But Jones underlined his value as he made it 12 goals for the season and six in his last eight games when he opened the scoring in the FA Cup defeat to Reading.

“We’ve had no enquiries for Kenwyne,” said Slade.

“I am fairly confident that he will be here at the end of the month. Obviously if a ginormous offer came in for him then that would be left with the owner and chief executive and the committee, but, from my point of view, I’d like him here.

“He is our leading scorer.

“I’ve had assurances. At this stage there is no kind of mandate to lose Kenwyne Jones at all.”

There have been a number of high-profile exits as Cardiff seek to slash their wage bill. But Slade insisted it was not inevitable the club’s bigger players would be part of the cull.

“Not all the big earners will go,” added Slade.

“It depends who that might be and what position as well. We can take a hit on a midfielder or a centre-back. We still have work to do.

“I think it will be a busy week again for people at the football club. There are likely to be one or two more who exit the club, but we will balance that with one or two coming in as well.”

For Kj , for TNT and for our psyche, we need to aspire to the highest pinnacle of competition. To see KJ playing regularly in the EPL would be the ultimate  measure of where we need to be on the football scale of success.

Kenwyne Jones is at Cardiff City to score goals... other players can do the running around
By Nathan Blake (Wales Online)

Cardiff City hero Nathan Blake insists striker Kenwyne Jones should be picked from the start, every week, whether he's willing to chase around for 90 minutes or not.

It was great to see Kenwyne Jones back in Cardiff City’s Championship starting line-up for the first time in almost a month – and he celebrated with a 13th goal of the season.

He’s scored seven in his last 10 appearances and that’s an outstanding record for a team in the lower half of the table.

I’ve heard all the talk about how Kenwyne needs to be more of a 90-minute player, to be charging around the pitch all the time challenging here, there and everywhere.

But that’s not what Cardiff City need him to be doing.

Kenwyne’s game is all about winning physical challenges, scoring goals and being a nightmare for opposing defenders in the air. His approach is not like, say, Duncan Ferguson, who did tend to put himself about.

Kenwyne can help the Bluebirds by doing what he does best – and that is to be a focal point in attack.

Asking a big guy of 6ft 4ins tall to run around all over the place is a typical British attitude. Why? That’s putting square pegs in round holes and doesn’t work. Kenwyne works hard, he puts in a shift, but football is not just about graft. There is far more to it and Kenwyne has the experience and knowhow to make teams he comes up against uncomfortable.

Other players in the team will be there to add the running and put themselves about in various areas of the pitch.

In my view, Kenwyne gets unfair press. Because his style can be a bit languid some people think he doesn’t care enough.

He cares a lot and is extremely effective for the team.

In my opinion Kenwyne has been Cardiff’s best player this season. No question. Thirteen goals in a struggling team says it all.

Cardiff don’t have another players in the group who could play a similar role to him and score the goals he does.

The Bluebirds are fortunate to have him in their team - and he’ll play a big part in ensuring City finish in a respectable Championship position.

Let’s hope City stick with Kenwyne and Eoin Doyle in attack against Brighton. They at least provide goals potential and could prove to be a useful combination.

The key, of course, is that a 1-1 draw at Sheffield Wednesday only becomes a good result if Cardiff win at home to Brighton.

They have a starting point, nothing more. After four successive defeats it was important to come up with something more positive and that’s what Russell Slade and his players have done.

Cardiff’s performance was half decent at Hillsborough and now we need to see a little more at home. The playing surface at Wednesday was poor, but it always is at this time of year. The pitch cuts up badly, but it was the same for both teams and Cardiff will have a far better pitch to play on at home.

Back-to-back home fixtures against Brighton and Blackburn is a real chance for Slade and his team. They can build on what was achieved in Sheffield and move forward with a little more confidence.

Their record now is one win in 10 league games – six points earned from the last 30 on offer. That’s simply not good enough no matter how you look at it and must be improved.

Slade’s team is starting to take shape. The transfer window has closed and this is, in so many ways, his team now.

It’s been a difficult spell. He had to cut the wage bill in a dramatic way. Plenty of players have gone and quite a few have come in.

These are Slade’s players now and we must see over the next few matches what can be achieved.

City’s first job is to beat Brighton, who are a team who like to get the ball down and pass.

That may prove a problem for Cardiff, who are low on confidence. There have been loads of disruptions, lots of change and a period of stability is needed.

Slade has said he still isn’t certain what his best starting XI is, but he needs to find out fast. Cardiff need a settled team if they are to put a run of results together and show they are a group of players with a bright future.

Simply beating Brighton is now the whole answer, of course, but it would be a solid step along the way.

If they can earn wins against both Brighton and Blackburn it would make a statement. City need to beat teams they are maybe not expected to beat and Blackburn, who are challenging for the play-offs, could come into that category.

At times it seems that Cardiff don’t have the mental strength to take control. If they are underdogs they seem to give it a go and see what happens.

But I want to see City players going out expecting to win, particularly at home. They must put themselves and each other under mental pressure and see it through.

If they can have a winning mindset the signs are that there is enough quality in their squad to have a decent set of results over the rest of this season.

They can at least ease any nerves about league position and enjoy the rest of this season. After all the turmoil so far during 2014-15 it would be fantastic if City could calm things down, work on playing in an entertaining way and move forward with a touch more confidence.

Their first job is to win against Brighton at Cardiff City Stadium tomorrow.
The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.

stay in the 2nd division

it would be interested to see his scoring record per games in lower divisions versus premier league

forwards is to score what is the point of playing in a division if you cant make the grade and score on a frequent basis.

only a few years left to play enjoy it by scoring goals on the regular.

This man is a very large body , good for getting goals when one is badly needed. This man allows for the Direct ball from deep..any angle..he is a big aerial target..He should be the man whose job is to wear down central defenders..thus allowing our speedy forwards to look even faster.

For me he is a valuable asset different from Stern John who was a scorer ..Jones should be used as a facilitator for other attackers to score.

He can serve as a target for the Direct option any angle.

He can hold up the ball

He can set picks

He can battle with center backs

He can serve as a big defender when defending corners and set plays.

He shouldn't be allowed to dribble the ball for more than 10 meters

Cardiff City striker Kenwyne Jones to sign for AFC Bournemouth on loan

Cardiff City striker Kenwyne Jones to sign for AFC Bournemouth on loan until the end of the season
By Steve Tucker (Wales Online)

Cardiff City top-scorer Kenwyne Jones is set to leave the club to go on loan to high-flying Championship side Bournemouth for the remainder of the season after the Bluebirds confirmed they have accepted an offer.

The 30-year-old has hit 13 goals so far this campaign for Russell Slade’s side and played the full 90 minutes in the Bluebirds last outing, a 2-0 home win over Birmingham last weekend.

The Trinidad & Tobago international joined the Bluebirds from Stoke in January 2014 in a deal which saw Peter Odemwingie move in the opposite direction. In total he has made 47 appearances for the Bluebirds and scored 14 goals in the process.

Slade has found himself presiding over severe cost-cutting at Cardiff and Jones would be the latest high-profile player to leave following Matthew Connolly’s move out on loan to Watford last week.

The deadline for emergency loans is at 5pm on Thursday and any deal would be subject to international clearance.

Cardiff City confirmed they had accepted a loan offer for the striker on their website.

They said: "Cardiff City Football Club has accepted a loan offer for Kenwyne Jones from AFC Bournemouth.

"Kenwyne will link up with the Cherries immediately, subject to international clearance.

"The emergency loan spell will run until May 2 2015 inclusive, though will be extended until 25th May (inclusive), should Bournemouth feature in the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final that day.

"We wish Kenwyne the very best of luck during his time away."

Russell Slade says Kenwyne Jones loan departure not a footballing decision
« Reply #1039 on: March 27, 2015, 09:12:48 AM »
Cardiff City boss Russell Slade says Kenwyne Jones loan departure not a footballing decision, but a business one
By Steve Tucker (WalesOnline)

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade says the decision to let top scorer Kenwyne Jones join Bournemouth on loan until the end of the season was “a business one.”

The Bluebirds shocked their fans by agreeing to a deal with Cherries boss Eddie Howe which sees Jones wearing Bournemouth colours for the rest of the season.

It comes hot on the heels of Cardiff also having let defender Matt Connolly sign for Watford on loan.

Slade said of the Jones move: "Similar to the Connolly deal. It's a financial decision really.

"We are not going up or down at this stage so in financial terms, it made sense for us. It is not a footballing decision but I would like to wish Kenwyne all the very best until the end of the season at Bournemouth."

WalesOnline understands Bournemouth have agreed to pay Jones' considerable salary and bonuses for the rest of the season.

The Bluebirds have received a sizeable six-figure loan fee from Bournemouth. They will also receive another six-figure fee should Howe's men be promoted to the Premier League with Jones on board.

We also understand no firm decision has been made on Jones' future in the Welsh capital.

Jones joins Connolly and Adam Le Fondre as key Bluebirds personnel under Slade who have surprisingly been permitted to go out on loan.

Trinidad & Tobago international Jones joined the Bluebirds from Stoke in January 2014 in a deal which saw Peter Odemwingie move in the opposite direction. In total he has made 47 appearances for the Bluebirds and scored 14 goals in the process.

The 30-year-old has hit 13 goals so far this campaign for Slade’s side and played the full 90 minutes in the Bluebirds last outing, a 2-0 home win over Birmingham last weekend.

Meanwhile Slade has welcomed promising Arsenal youngster Semi Ajayi, who signs on loan for the rest of the season.

He said of the defender: “He's only 20 and very much a work in progress for us.

"He won't be near the first team this season. He will train with the senior squad and under-21s.

"He's an interesting player and exciting for his age. It's definitely something we will look at in summer. But let's see how things go."

They're paying his salary and bonus... AND paying Cardiff a fee on top of that?  Good bit of business by Cardiff... especially if, as Slade say, Cardiff aren't at risk for relegation.

Wow, I know relegation can take a toll on clubs but didn't realize that Cardiff get mash-up like that. Well I guess if he is one of their highest earners and they not pushing for promotion and not in danger of another relegation, this makes business sense.

Trinidad football international forwards make loan moves

CONCACAF.com PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad & Tobago (March 27, 2015) – A pair of Trinidad & Tobago international forwards sealed loan moves on Thursday in announcements made on two different continents.

Cardiff City sent Kenwyne Jones to fellow English Championship side Bournemouth (73 points), which currently tops the table by a single point over Watford and Middlesbrough. The top two clubs earn automatic promotion to the Premier League.

The 30-year-old, who has been capped 57 times and joined Cardiff from Stoke City in January 2014, scored 13 goals in 27 games in all competitions this season. Jones also possesses Premier League experience with Southampton and Sunderland. His loan agreement will run until May 2, but could be extended until May 25 if Bournemouth features in the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final that day.

In North America, Rundell Winchester joined Timbers 2 (T2) -- the United Soccer Leagues team of Major League Soccer’s Portland Timbers -- from Central FC of the TT Pro League, Trinidad’s top-flight circuit.

He tallied 19 goals in 34 matches for the Sharks, leading them to a Lucozade Sport Goal Shield in 2014 and taking both the tournament MVP and Golden Boot honors. Winchester also helped them to a second-place finish in the TT Pro League and was awarded Young Footballer of the Year, Goal of the Season and Supporters Goal of the Season by his own club in 2014. The 21-year-old has four caps for the Soca Warriors, making his senior team debut on October 16, 2013, as a substitute against New Zealand.

Cardiff City have misused Kenwyne Jones
« Reply #1045 on: April 01, 2015, 06:34:24 AM »
Cardiff City have misused Kenwyne Jones and I don't get why he's been allowed to join Bournemouth
By Nathan Blake (Wales Online)

I don’t know Kenwyne Jones. I certainly can’t remember playing against him in the last few seasons of my career or even saying hello to the guy.

But I am certain he’s a highly effective centre-forward, particularly at Championship level, and it’s difficult to fathom why he has been allowed to join Championship leaders Bournemouth on loan.

For me he should have stayed with Cardiff City as they make plans to start 2015-16 on the front foot.

It’s clear the financial rewards for the club in giving their go-ahead to the deal were significant, including a loan fee plus a bonus if the Cherries go up, but it’s crucial City challenge hard for promotion next season and Jones must be part of that bid.

Right now, though, manager Russell Slade’s team are stuck in mid-table mediocrity and Jones is preparing to give Bournemouth’s title challenge a boost over their last seven fixtures.

Okay, that’s a great temporary move for Jones, who will pose a substantial forward threat for Bournemouth, but Slade is left to get on with his plans for the future without him.

City currently have seven senior strikers under contract and in line to be part of the squad next season. If I had to choose three of them now it would be Jones plus Adam Le Fondre, currently out on loan at Bolton, and Joe Mason, who is just back from a spell with Bolton and is regaining fitness after a bad hamstring strain.

For me the other four, Eoin Doyle, Federico Macheda, Nicky Maynard and Alex Revell still have a fair bit to prove.

Jones will link up with Bournemouth early next week to start preparing for their next fixture, at Ipswich next Saturday.

He is Cardiff’s top scorer on 13 goals, but apparently hasn’t been guaranteed a start with Bournemouth. I reckon he will make a significant impact on their season and I hope the Cherries play him in the right way.

I’ve been a bit perplexed about the way Slade has used Jones at times this season, playing him too deep in a sort of No.10 support role.

Why on earth would you do that? The way to get the best out of Jones is to play him as an out-and-out centre-forward.

He can take on both central defenders, give them a bruising time and that’s when the likes of Doyle or Revell can support and make the most of chances he can create.

But Slade has sometimes used him in deep and that doesn’t make sense. He is not that style of player.

Opposing defenders will love to see Jones sitting back and out of their faces. It’s not as if City have another striker who is technically gifted or lightning quick to lead the attack instead. They don’t.

It’s puzzled me why Jones was being asked to play a withdrawn role which seems to expose any weaknesses he has.

And now he’s off to the seaside. It’s not as if Bournemouth are a bigger club than Cardiff, far from it, but they are top of the table and in a much better position.

Most fans would say their manager, Eddie Howe, is among the best young coaches around and I’d like to think he will use him in the right way.

Callum Wilson is Bournemouth’s top scorer. He has great movement and an eye for goal. Wilson and Jones could be a potent partnership.

I can see the big man tying up Championship defenders with sheer physical presence, allowing Wilson to run in behind. That’s a role I once had with Sheffield United and it’s a beautiful thing to be given that job. I loved it. There is a real freedom being able to watch your strike partner take the bangs and bruises while you run in to pick up the pieces and hopefully score goals.

Slade has said that the departures of Matt Connolly to Watford and Jones to Bournemouth are for business reasons. That really means they are cost cutting measures.

I can understand that City are mid-table and can’t really achieve anything this season, but they are trying to rebuild and it says a lot about our club’s ambition when they are cutting costs at this stage.

Maybe the days of big money signings have gone, but those players don’t always make the best team. Bournemouth have done it without splashing out massive money, Southampton in the Premier League have built steadily and are up there competing with the top clubs.

The task for Slade is to ensure he signs the right calibre of players to ensure he has a group who, working together, can become a successful team. It’s going to be tough next season. Three clubs will come down from the Premier League, probably three from Sunderland, Burnley, QPR and Leicester, while Bournemouth, Watford, Middlesbrough, Norwich, Derby and Ipswich are battling for promotion. Three of them will miss out and, along with the three coming down, are sure to push on even harder next season.

Right now it’s difficult to see Cardiff competing against those clubs. I wish Slade all the best and would love him to prove me wrong, but there is a lot of work ahead if that is to happen. He will have to add a few more players who can make a quick impact.

There is no room for sentiment as Slade plans for the future. He needs a committed group who are ready for the Championship battle and anybody who falls short in the fitness stakes should be moved on.

Seven games to go and the Bluebirds must now plan ahead. The pressure is growing already and Slade must deliver in terms of a solid start next season. We all need to see Bluebirds’ progress.

AFC Bournemouth: New loan signing Kenwyne Jones tells all
By Neil Perrett (Bournemouth Echo)

NEW Cherries loan signing Kenwyne Jones yesterday faced the media for the first time since his move from Cardiff City.

Here is a transcript of his interview.

Were you expecting this move?

“No. Actually, it caught me by surprise. I didn’t think there were many things in football that would have surprised me any more and this actually did. It threw me off a little bit because I was on my way to training at Cardiff on Thursday and, literally, it took place in half an hour so I’m still trying to understand how that came about.”

What explanation were you given as to why Cardiff were letting you go?

“It’s a funny situation. We’ve been dealing with a funny situation all season. Basically, I was just told I was going, more or less. I didn’t really have a say in the matter. I think it was already done before I got the phone call so I’m here.”

Nathan Blake said he felt you were misused at Cardiff. Would you go along with that?

“Well, I think he probably has his opinion of what was needed for Cardiff. Cardiff went through a situation this year that has been very topsy-turvy from the beginning of the season until now. We have lost managers, changed managers, lost managers, changed managers and then you have the uprooting of players, some who you thought were fixtures. They left, for whatever reason, and the team has been unstable all season. So, for what Cardiff is going to be, you are going to see that properly next season. Well, hopefully.”

Do you feel let down by Cardiff at all?

“I’m sorry, I don’t carry those feelings around with me. Football, we know, is a business. It’s a short career and you have to make the best of it. Things like this happen, sometimes every year for people.

"So, at this present time, I’ve been with Cardiff for one year and now I’m here until the end of the season. Where I am in a couple of months, whether it be here or abroad, who knows? That’s the life of a football player so I’m just looking at the moment for now.”

Are you pleased to be at Bournemouth?

“Yes, of course. It’s an exciting time for Bournemouth. They have a very good set-up here, the coaching staff are very good and they have a very good playing philosophy and I’m happy to at least sneak in and be a part of it for a short time.”

What have you made of Eddie Howe and how does he compare with managers you have worked with in the past?

“It’s been a short time. I’ve been very impressed with his work-rate, attention to detail and his philosophy so, on the club front, without fail, he’s probably the best manager I have worked with in that short space of time.

What have you been told about you role?

“I’m here to bolster, I’m here to challenge but it’s all about lending experience to try to get the guys over the line. Maybe, with the remaining fixtures, it might call for different things however the manager sees it and he will make that decision when the time comes. But I’m here just trying to become part of the furniture for the moment and work as well as the guys and, hopefully, that will go well.”

Do you feel you fit in with Bournemouth’s style of play?

“To be really honest, I think my style of play is mistaken. For the teams that I’ve played in, of course, they adopted the more direct situation, based on ability. But away from here with my national team, I don’t play that style of football so there are quite a few coaches and managers that know that about me. I don’t think the manager here didn’t know that before he enquired about me so, hopefully, I will fit in well and be able to lend some experience and, of course, get them promoted.”

Do you see this as a step up?

“In some ways, yes, in some ways, no. Here, they have the right idea and the right way to go about things. I’m not trying to damn myself, things weren’t happening in the right way at Cardiff. They have an ambition here and they have done well over the past few years and would fare pretty well if they went up again into the Premier League because the manager believes in his philosophy and he trusts the players 100 per cent and the players trust the manager and work for him and work for each other.”

Are Bournemouth equipped to step up?

“If you leave this division and go to the Premier League, you can have the tendency to interfere too much and destroy the philosophy you have been working with for the past few years. That again is down to the manager and the staff when that times comes. Over the past few days training with the team and inter-acting with them and the manager, (top of the league) is a true indication of where they are. The way they train and the way they prepare, it has been on point. In all honesty, over my career, it’s nothing that I’ve ever seen before and I’m quite excited by it. They do have the formula to do well so kudos to the manager, the staff and the club for the way they have been going about their business and, hopefully, they will be able to take that into the final seven games and also into next season.”

How different has it felt to be at Bournemouth?

“I’ve played at Bournemouth before. It’s always been a smallish club. But for the ambition that they have, I’m guessing that things would happen for them to expand somehow in whatever stages they feel necessary. They have a brilliant fan-base. Everyone supports the club properly and the club has been working in the right direction to get to where they are. It doesn’t have the fit of what you think a small club might be.”

Do you have aspirations to get back into the Premier League, potentially with Bournemouth?

“The aspiration at the moment is to work well and to keep the run going. Being on top, winning games, playing well and hopefully tipping them over the top to promotion. From what I have seen from the past few days, they are of the mindset of actually finishing first and not just getting promoted by finishing second. I’m happy to come into a place where everyone is of the same mindset so that in itself makes it easier for you to come in to push yourself and to become part of the furniture so that’s the aspiration for now. When that finishes, we’ll have a rest and then see what happens.”

What was a Cardiff player’s version of Callum Wilson’s disallowed goal?

“To be fair, we didn’t have an explanation of why it was disallowed. I’ve been in that position before where you stand outside the box in front of the goalkeeper and they try to say it’s unsporting conduct, even though you can stand outside the box. But when the goalkeeper is at the top of the box, they say give him a few steps, even though you are outside and I guess that’s what they blew for. I’m not a referee, I don’t know!”
