Well someone done mention Pele...some oter big names include:

John Barnes came down with Watford back in 87 (i think) and they played against a Sao Paulo team that had Muller and Silas. Careca was advertized as coming but ended up signing with napoli just before the end of the season...I know real peple went to see Careca and get disappointed. But Careca did finally show up a couple years ago with Brazil Masters. There were a few big names in that team.

Elber was part of a Brazilian Under 20 team that played against Yorke and co. in a pre youth WC warmup

Soccer sevens had some big UK names from the past. I cyah list dem all

Wim play on two Oranje WC teams, so you know he hadda be a boss.

We had plenty more...but I done dey  :D

I think Zico came together with Socrates when Flamingoes came to T&T.
I'm trying to remember the captain of the last Brazillian team that Pele played on,he came to T&T with the NY Cosmos.

Are you serious ?? I heard Edgar Davids was there too ?

I say these players...

Eddie Johnson, DaMarcus Beasley, Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan, David Suazo, Antonio Careca, Bebeto, Ricardo Rocha, Jared Borgetti, Pavel Prado, Cuauhtemoc Blanco, Antonio Naelson, Walter Centeno, Paulo Wanchope, Luis Tejada, Julio Medina, Pele, Franz Beckenbauer, Carlos Tevez, Theodore Withmore, Nolberto Solano, Maximiliano Lopez, Niko Kranjcar, Deigo, and Alan Shearer.

Didn't Ronaldhino came to T&T before ? that's when Yorke under 20 team beat Brazil before going to Portugal in 1991 ?

Anyone know if Rafael Marquez ever play in T&T ?

He may not have had the biggest name, but the best and most exciting performance I have seen by a foreign player in Trinidad was the Brazilian, Aloi (not sure of spelling), in 1971.

Coop's,

I know you would remember him.  You hit it on the head.  My most vivid memory of that tour was how Aloi destroyed Anim David and Winston Phillips (Bee).  Man, he had Anim David spinning like a bobtail dog.  Yes, he came down the right side - near the pavilion end.  I know Bee is your boy, but he was a bruiser too.  The team was Nautico.  Edu was on the Brazilian schoolboy team that came to Trinidad in the 1960s.  I believe they even beat the national team.

then allyuh would remember when Americas came with ZeMaria played in Arima.
Chelsea came with a star studded team that had Charlie Cook, Peter Osgood, Peter Bonnetti and David Webb. Put 6 in we tail in Skinner Park. Charlie Cook was the rooliepolie king back then.

Ah have to include Pat Jennings ...because man does leave out keepers, even defenders, when it comes to picking best players .... who came with Arsenal and played against ASL in de oval.
Another reason is to give meh pardner Ron la Forest an opportunity to get some more pips, as he scored a hattrick in that game. try as i might, I have not been able to find another player to do this is to jennings anywhere in the world.l

Jai John, I believe you are right.  His name was “Eloi.”  Yes, the trainer with the bucket was the greatest.  The crowd could not wait to see him run onto the field to assist an injured player.  He was quick and held the bucket with a straight arm – not even spilling a drop of water.

Observer, I remember Chelsea coming too in 1971.  Southhampton came with them on that tour.  Southhampton played the national under-19 team a practice game at King George V Park.  They dropped about six on us in a 60-minute game.   Needless to say, I collected the six goals.

Just as an aside .... How about  the Howard university Bison's team that played the national team at the QP oval ? The african..I believe he was Nigerian, was running rings around the most feared defender of the day , Charlie Spooner. Well the spoon decided to end the humiliation ...a straight right did it  :rotfl:  ...he didn't even wait for the referee ...not in front all dese people man !!!
Alvin henderson scored the loan goal, a penalty and Howard came away with the victory vs T&T natinal team.
