TFA Premier League heads for nail-biting finish.

The weekly round up
Friday, 9 November, 2007

The League table is nicely poised for a nail-biting finish as leaders Stokely Vale and Charlotteville Unifiers stumbled to defeat. Castara Goal City is now two points adrift of Unifiers who trail Stokely Vale by one point. St. Clair's Coaching School remains in striking distance three points behind Goal City, with a game in hand. The bottom three team are already clear, with very little change likely to the order in which they would finish.

Matchdays # 10

*  Sidey's playing hosts to the struggling Georgia F.C. team were held to a goalless draw.
*  Roxborough Lakers continue their revival with a resounding 3-0 thrashing of title contenders Charlotteville Unifiers. Shamiir Reid, an own goal, and Kirn Harris accounted for the goals. This result offered a little breathing space for current leaders Stokely Vale.
*  Bethel United vs Castara Goal City, and Roxborough Lakers vs St. Clair's coaching School games were postponed.
*  Earlbrokes strolled to an easy 3-0 win over basement dwellers - Mason Hall P.Y.C. Nolan Orr hit two, while Deon Thomas registered the other for Earlbrokes.

Matchdays # 11

* A Khislon Blackman goal settled the issue for Mt. Grace United in their tightly contested encounter with Georgia F.C. The 1-0 win was only the second for Mt. Grace United in a disappointing season. Their Premier League survival now rest on the play-offs.
*  Castara Goal City heightened the drama at the top of the table by taking full points from Stokely Vale - their second 1-0 win over Vale. Kayode Legall netted the winner to bring Goal City back into contention for league honours.
*  In a mid-table battle, Roxborough Lakers eased past Earlbrokes by the score of 2-1. An Elon McConney brace ensured the result, though Nolan Orr snatched a late consolation for Earlbrokes.
*  Downie Marcelle grabbed a late winner as Bethel United held off a determined Mason Hall P.Y.C. 3-2. Mason Hall's Delano Davis and Rondell James cancelled out earlier goals by Downie Marcelle and Julien James.
*  Further disappointment was in store for the Charlotteville Unifiers whose abandoned matchdays # 5 game with St Clair's Coaching School was decided in Coaching Scool's favour. The match was abandoned when the Unifiers players left the field following the dismissal of a second player in the opening 15 minutes of the game. Coaching School were leading 2-0 at the time.

Charlotteville waste move to occupy pole position
Friday, November 9th 2007

Charlotteville Unifiers wasted an opportunity to occupy the pole position in the Tobago Football Association Premier Division League Championship tournament.

A victory against Roxborough Lakers would have kicked Stokely Vale off the pole position, which they have held since the start of the season.

Supporters and well-wishers were baffled to see Charlotteville start such an important game in their quest for championship honours short and Lakers made them pay.

Ten minutes into the game at the Richmond recreation ground, Dyke Reid scored a beauty to open the scoring and they extended the lead to two-nil before the end of the half, courtesy a well-placed shot from Shamir Reid. Charlotteville eventually had their full compliment of players about 15 minutes into the game. On the resumption, Charlotteville who were now at full strength took the fight to their opponents and though they pressed for long periods they just could not breech the stubborn Lakers defence.

The game became more physical in the latter stages, as frustrated by their inability to score the goals, the Charlotteville players became more aggressive, resulting in one player being sent off and Charlotteville back where they started, with 10 men.

Lakers eventually sealed the issue when Kern Harris found the back of the net with a bullet.

Though the defending champions hold a one point lead at the top, they can ill afford to slip up against their remaining opponents, Mega Brite Bethel United, Castara Retreat Goal City and Pepsi Hill United, who on their best day can be a handful. On the other hand, Charlotteville, once they keep their focus should have little problems in winning their last two games against neighbours Sidey's FC and Earl Brookes.

Scores - Roxborough Lakers 3 - Dyke Reid 2, Affiba McKenna 1 - Mason Hall PYC 0; Charlotteville Unifiers 4 - Kevern Murphy 1, Kevorn Martin 1, Cher Burris 1, Kervin McKenna 1 - Mega Brite Bethel United 1-Downie Marshal 1; Castara Retreats Goal City 5 - Kasron Quashie 2, Jessie Henry 1, Kenyon Manswell 1, Kayode Legall 1 - Pepsi Hill United 2-Kareem Campbell 1, Donnel Wills 1; Stokely Vale 1, Keno Kerr - St Clair Coaching School 1, Keon Price 1; Georgia FC 0 - Sidey's FC 0; Roxborough Lakers 3, Dyke Reid 2, Shamir Reid 1, Kern Harris 1 - Charlotteville Unifiers 0.
